Lucas
That's Totie Fields....singer and stand-up comic. She was a fixture on the Mrev Griffin show in the early-to-mid 70's. She was only 44 when the Kiss segment was filmed. Had a lot of health problems with blod clots shortly after, which led to having a leg amputated and eventually killed her a few years later. What's amazing is what 44 looked like years back! (and what 44 looks like now!)Well, there's Jennifer Anniston at 44 a few years ago...http://i.huffpost.com/gen/1278362/thumbs/o-JENNIFER-ANISTON-570.jpg?1 ...and then there are my old high classmates (now 43-44) that I occasionally catch glimpses of on Facebook...http://freeimageplace.com/Animals/Images/Orangutan.jpg I see your Jennifer Friend and raise you a Gong Li at age 50 http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMTk4MzMwMjc5NF5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTYwMDMyNzQz._V1_UX214_CR0,0,214,317_AL_.jpg

RUSHHEAD666
If Kiss was just about the music it would have flopped. Bank on it. Bullshit I wasn't going to chime in tonight Lucas but really. What do you expect from a bunch of homer Rush Addicts And Narpets LOSERS! They love to suck that 21.12 inch cock on here every night. I love most on here but as far as the sucking of the Syrinx ass goes it really sucks ass. I can type this crap because I am one of the biggest Rush Tits on this fuckking fragile forum.KISS is one of the greatest bands in the world. Are you fuckking kidding me?I'm sorry that I don't jack off into Spock's Beard.I am sorry I don't say "YES" ever time someone wants to put their "Relayer" in my butt. Every time they come "Closer To The Edge!"I am sorry if I don't where glasses and look like a little pale skinny nerd and make love to the Steven Wilson sheep herd followers!!!!!! Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Ace Frehley, and Peter Criss are LEGENDS!!!!! Shame on you naive Rush Fanboi Fruits! You so called Rush fans who rip KISS have understanding to what when on. Are you KISS Haters 12 years old? Do you wear your Rush 2112 Starman Underoos over your big fat heads and eat Capt Crunch naked? You bois love your naked Starman. Your "Hemisphere's" bathroom alone time fodder. You love "Going For The One" Bois but you HATE KISS????? Hilarious!!!!! I would listen to all four KISS MEMBER 1978 SOLO ALBUMS OVER ANY OF THE CRAP THAT GEDDY AND ALEX PUT OUT!!!! The Ace Album is one of the greatest rock records ever made. Go pull your pud to VICTOR. How far will that get you? "WE NEED NEW PORNOS!!!!!" Signed, LES CLAYPOOL "My Favorite Headache" is this fuckingg thread. KISS FucKKinG RuLES!! YOU HATERS ARE FOOLS!!! Go listen to Nightwish or Laguna Coil or Blackmore's Night!!! KISS IS ONE OF THE GREATEST BANDS IN THE LAND!!! Even the overrated band RUSH uses PYRO!!!! THEY COPIED KISS!!! I would rather listen to "The Elder" 2112 times in a row than listen to "Suck My Clockwork Angels" once!! "The Wreckers" are you!!! YOU KISS HATERS!!! LOL!!! Don't wreck a good thing Rush fan. KISS members have made more money than you will ever see in your life. I get it. "Money for nothing, chicks for free. I'm in Dire Straits man, but I will be rich for the rest of my life......... Earl i am kind of surprised you would say rhat but I will take uour comments with a grain of salt. I'm not a Rush fanboi and indont like most of the acts you mentioned but Kiss is just overrated. Sorry bud. Its all about the image. Just a theatrical stage prop to cover thenfact their music is largely mundane. We all saw what happened when they took off their makeup. Thud. Ace was the only jnteresting member of the band musically and when they lost him they lost their musical idenitiy. DD I didn't mean to insult you. Honestly I was just using that term in general. I may go off into outer space like ACE but no, I would really never try to insult a fellow Rush Forum Member unless someone shoots their agro arrow at me first.I just love KISS. We all have opinions. I do agree with you. When the band took off their make up and Gene and Paul had to hire other musicians they did tank. Some of the worst albums on the planet are done without their make up. I absolutely loathe "Hot In The Shade" and "Crazy Nights." Sorry if I was in rare form last night. I should have just gone to bed. Glad you take me with a grain of salt.I like to like to write in SHOCK mode. I know my schtick is getting old. Oh well, I will never change. So that being said, come on DD and "SHOCK ME!"

Ace was the only jnteresting member of the band musically and when they lost him they lost their musical idenitiy. I don't think it's being a Rush or a prog fanboi...it's whether you like someone's stuff or not?!?! I know a lot of people that think Springsteen is the greatest musician that ever lived, but I think all his stuff sounds the same...but the man made his mark, you have to give him credit. Frank Zappa probably WAS the greatest musician that ever lived (during our lifetime) but he got like TWO tunes played on the radio over the years with any frequency! As far as Kiss.....their music is marginal, their talent it adequate, but they're marketing genius's!! The fact that Gene was doing the reality TV thing, and STILL looking to sell Kiss related merchandise PROVES that fact! Well stated. But ACE is the most talented!!!!! RIP IT OUT!!!!! Lucas
Kiss are a bar band with goofy makeup. Thankfully, some of the guys you love were a little more open minded “Peter Criss was as influential to me as John Bonham or Neil Peart. In 76-79, I was the biggest KISS fanatic on the planet! Like Ringo, he doesn’t get enough credit but he influenced millions of drummers around the world. His solos play like a song and I can still sing them note for note in my head. Loved his use of cowbell and he was one of the first to play a mammoth kit. One of the highlights of my career was playing with Peter last year. He’s one of the great unsung heroes of our age.” - Mike Portnoy "In the mid-70s Rush opened for Kiss many, many times -- for months on end in 1974-75. They always treated us well, and even the guys on their crew became close personal friends for years after. Peter was an absolute sweetheart -- warm and sincere. I appreciated his strong and rhythmic drumming -- exuberant and loose-limbed -- and he was always fun and funny." – Neil Peart

Digital Dad
I don't know many people who know as much as about this shit as I do, I'm not tooting my own horn here Earl, I truly believe that KISS is overrated. Musically. That doesn't mean I lack respect or fail to understand why people like them, obviously they tapped into a Zeitgeist that follows them to til this day. I don't begrudge them that at all, but after all this time you can't tell me that KISS belongs anywhere in the same breath as Rush do. I just find that notion completely and utterly preposterous. I don't like ABBA either...must be something about a band who's name is in all caps that bugs me! ;)
Lucas
I rarely venture into the "I am a guitarist" bit, but I am a guitarist, and have been for a loooong time ... I while I do love Alex, anyone who wants to even compare the POS called Victor to what Ace Frehley put out as a solo album in 1978 - basically himself, Anton Fig on drums and Eddie Kramer producing - there is no comparison .. Ace blows that shit away, and this coming from the guitar player in me, not the KISS fan

MMCXII
Grew up a Kiss fan...coverted to Rush around 79... here's the thing...battles have ensued between fanbases...who is better?... whose fans are better..?... etc...well.... Its 1979 ....again...going into 1980.... Kiss does Dynasty...without basically 2 founding members for crissake...Criss never plays a note......Rush drops Permanent Waves...heralding an entirely new era....no comparison....the "opener" kills the headliner.....Rush...much greater than Kiss.... Drops mic...... I grew up a kiss fan and converted to Rush around '79 too.. I think many of us here can say that. i agree with your post too 100%
MMCXII
Kiss is for kids, simple as that. They were everything until I grew out of them at 8 or 9 years old. I still have all my brother's old albums up to Alive II. I could easily put one on and enjoy Rocket Ride or Dr Love. Rarely do though. I loved 'I was made for loving you' when disco was big. (Hey I was just a child!). The song is still a time machine for me. (Even though I'm 45 and my email is discosucks@.. ;) ) they're kinda like the Monkees in that they're not really a band anyway.. they were a business based on comic characters and the Monkees were a tv show..
