Lucas
So, I finished my KISS marathon of the classic line-up today. I have to tell you what a joy it was being transported to a different time in my life and the discussions of that time with you all. I can't imagine how many times I played all of those albums back in the day and how instrumental they were in my life. What great fun and what great memories! The original line-up covered a lot of genres. Hard rock, metal, glam, power pop, disco, prog, etc. Here's one example - "Hard Luck Woman". Seriously, how good a song is "Hard Luck Woman"? I completely agree ... and Peter nails it on vocals

MMCXII
I haven't owned a Kiss album in decades but I remember from my childhood that on the back of "Dressed to Kill" is a picture the same as the front but with the colours inverted.. and Gene's make-up makes him look like he's big huge googly eyes..
Lucas
I just want to listen to all of those albums right NOW!!!!!!!! Never gets old!!!!! We had Two Guys here in NJ, and it was a big, totally 70s department store ... I remember going there all the time, and if you went on Sunday, you couldn't buy clothing - everything else was OK, but no clothing ..It was "The Blue Laws" and was tied into the religious belief that Sunday was a day of rest .. How this applied to clothes, and not albums or electronics is beyond me .. Anyways, the Two Guys in Morris Plains was the one my family always went to .. I remember buying the Van Halen debut on 8track there after hearing You Really Got Me on the radio ... So I get home, put the 8track in, and Eruption comes on .. I was 11, and had just started to pick up the guitar .... I swear to you, I thought the 8track was defective - like the spools of tape were warped or spilling out .... I took the 8track out, told my Dad, and we exchanged it for the vinyl .. I remember calling my Dad in to listen to Eruption - he was a guitar player, loved Les Paul and Chet Atkins, etc ... When he heard Eruption, I could see he was like "Holy shit" lol

Lucas
ok, here's why KISS fans are like no other, and just one example of my obsession ... Back in 1977-78, a local newspaper here in NJ was holding a poll for most popular musical artists, songs, etc ... You had to send in your submission thru the mail on paper ( yes, times have changed ) with your name and address along with your choices of top artist, top album, top song, etc .... Including your name and address was required as they didn't want one person sending 100 votes ... Anyways, I was one of about 3 kids who loved KISS in this stiff whitebread school ( it still baffles me that a 10 or 12 year old kid could like Billy Joel or James Taylor, but whatever ) So I figured the non KISS fans in school would NOT have the wherewithal to send anything in - I mean, I LOVED KISS, and the other kids were not nearly as fanatical about music .... So my 2 friends and I decided to find the exact addresses and full names of about 100 other students ( phonebooks, etc ) and using those names, send in 100 votes for KISS across the board ... We thought we had this in the bag .. So when the results came out, KISS was the overwhelming winner - and because of all the votes, the newspaper decided to break down all the "KISS fans" by printing the names of each kid and their selection of KISS album, KISS song, etc 100 kids in school had no idea how their names got in the newspaper voting for a band they hated !! lol Edited January 6, 2016 by Lucas

Stormtron
Jealous of all you guys who grew up with Kiss in the 70s. I love their music now, but I can only imagine how fun it would've been to be a part of it back then.
Huge Ackman
I love all the old stuff up to and including Music From The Elder. I saw them in Milwaukee, on the Destroyer tour and from the front row for Dynasty. This was the very last show of the original line-up before Peter left the band the first time... The Sports Arena in Toledo, OH. A long, cold day outside in December to among the very first to get into the venue for a true "general admission" show. I only remember the moment that Gene rose up from the stage floor and started his antics and using up the one roll of 110 "Instamatic" film I had with me in less than two songs (except for remembering to save one shot to catch Gene's fire breathing, which I did pretty well). At the end of the show, Paul place his destroyed guitar into my hands but I was immediately mobbed and the thing got ripped from my grasp. I did end up with one of Gene's picks from the night but that has long since been lost. I wish I knew then how important music and the memorabilia would end up later in my life and I would have fought harder to keep Paul's guitar and would never have let Gene's pick and the ticket stuff from that night vaporize. I do still have the bootleg T-shirt that I bought out in the parking lot after the show... it has Rock 'n' Roll Over cover art on a yellow-sleeved T that is now thread-bare but still fun to show off to anybody who knows the good old days of the band... Good times... Rock ON! http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Kiss%20December%201979%20Toledo/scan0011.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Kiss%20December%201979%20Toledo/scan0010.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Kiss%20December%201979%20Toledo/scan0009.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Kiss%20December%201979%20Toledo/scan0008.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Kiss%20December%201979%20Toledo/scan0007.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Kiss%20December%201979%20Toledo/scan0006.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Kiss%20December%201979%20Toledo/scan0002.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Kiss%20December%201979%20Toledo/scan0003.jpgGreat Story Huge! I still have my ticket stub (and Cheap Trick tour book) from the 13 July 1979 gig at Pontiac Silverdome and much of the memorabilia from those days. (The two comic books, KISS cards, posters, photos, etc.) What a magical time it was. July 13th was 11 days before I saw them - and you got Cheap Trick ?!?!?! .. That is fantastic The band New England opened when I saw them July 24th at MSG .. I had no idea about opening bands, and when New England came out, I was like "HOLY SH!T, THEY ARE NOT WEARING THE MAKEUP" lol .. The Rockets opened in Toledo...they had a single "hit" with their cover of Fleetwood Mac's "Oh Well"... I remember just wanting them to get to that one "hit" and to get off the stage... BRING ON KISSS, already!!! Rock ON!!! http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Kiss%20December%201979%20Toledo/scan0001.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Kiss%20December%201979%20Toledo/scan0004.jpg http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Kiss%20December%201979%20Toledo/scan0005.jpg
