Snowdog
Thanks again guys for the suggestions. It's really helped me broaden my musical horizons. After reviewing the tunes currently loaded in my iPod I realized that about a little over half of the songs I picked for download are actually live recordings. I never really realized it before, but I guess I really like live recordings Keep those suggestions coming, studio or live

Moonraker
QUOTE (madra sneachta @ Aug 17 2005, 05:47 AM) The Decembrists - Picaresque I keep seeing this bands name pop up all over the place and its usually followed with glowing accolades, so I decided to pick up a ticket for their 2nd Fillmore show in SF. I'm decidedly going in blind (or would it be deaf in this case...) and not listening to any of thier material. I will be a clean slate and let what they have to say take over. Good, bad, andrush
Just do it and grab Porcupine Tree, Tool, and Mars Volta.
Tommy Sawyer
Definitely go for some Porcupine Tree. As for new prog... Van der Graaf Generator and Yes both but out pretty good albums in 2011, Anglagard had a great one this year, and.. Beardfish. If you like prog, you MUST check out Beardfish. Best album (IMO) in 2008 - Sleeping in Traffic (Part 2) Helmet of Gnats is good jazz fusion. Astra is psychedelic prog. Good stuff. Indeed. I pity gbr & Tommy! Kidding of course. I ran a google search "site:trf" and tried to find any posts related to Galactic Cowboys since I've gotten into them quite a bit recently.
