What makes the morel special is the difficulty of finding them, but also the taste. They are considered the "ribeye" steak of mushrooms, and they live up to the billing. Never eat them raw. Always cook them to kill the nasties. For dinner today I've got these (dryad's saddle) and some morels with eggs. Onion, garlic added to a mix of butter will blow you away! Apparently, last year there was a massive wildfire - 256,000 acres burned. Consequently, they are expecting a bumper crop of mushrooms this year.
