1966 Chevrolet Chevelle 396 SS convertible

See the Nickey sticker on the bumper? That was Nickey Chevrolet. They did a lot of high performance mods back in the 60's. My dad was a mechanic there from 1959 until 1962.

1970 Plymouth Superbird

http://www.chryslerinthenews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/plymouth_road_runner_superbird_image_11.jpg

For 1970, NASCAR raised the production requirement from 500 examples to one for every two manufacturer's dealers in the United States; in the case of Plymouth, that meant having to build 1,920 Superbirds.

I always thought that the Daytona and Superbird were both built in 1970, but they built the Daytona in 1969, and the Superbird in 1970. They only built 503 Daytonas, and only 70 of those had the 426 Hemi.

Urban legend Plymouth was 19 cars short so they drove the first 19 back around to the end of the line to be counted again by the NASCAR official.

I've read that Dodge didn't have time to build the required 500 '69 Charger 500s in time so they drove 108 cars around the block to be counted twice. Didn't know it happened with the Superbird too haha!

Apparently there were 3 Dayonas built from 70 Chargers. they even had the charger RT "scoops" on the doors. One had two things no other winged car had.. a sunroof and Plum Crazy paint! It was built for Robert Goulet!

Btw- havent been in this thread for a bit WOW the Mopars! All the best GM and ford's too! My true love is Mopar although I'm building a 302 Ranger street machine at the moment :D
