I don't understand the excitement over this by some. "Reboots" (or whatever) like this rarely work out well unless it's from a proven and accomplished director (like Batman Begins).

 

This director doesn't have any track record. It's his second movie.

 

That one movie he did, Safety Not Guaranteed, is good, though.

The characters seem wooden and have no personality (or just boring actors)

 

You can't say that about Goldblum, Dern, and Attenborough.

 

Agreed but I want dumb action, minimum.

 

The fourth film in a franchise rarely, if ever, should be expected to match the stellar quality of the first.

 

Just bring the popcorn, take the friends, have a laugh.

 

And then come on this forum and tear to shreds. That is my approach to this film.

 

I remember hating the trailers for most of the Pixar films, so I now wait to see the film before I judge.

 

Well, those Cars movies were lame, though.

Speaking of which, I hope Fox brings back Goldblum for ID4 2. He even expressed interest in it. I can take or leave Will Smith. Goldblum is one of the coolest actors ever.
