Create-a-Side

Disregard the concept of CA for a bit and take the songs at face value. You are to design the best possible side you can by changing the track listing of the album. Consequently, the remaining songs which will make up the other album side, will be, to you, the worst of CA. After doing this, you can optionally compare the album sides to actual Rush album sides, whether you just do a few or 36.

Note: Traditionally, album sides are seen as album halves. This means, in CA's case, that each side should be around 30 minutes - but it doesn't have to be. The side you create absolutely must be under 40 minutes, however.

Though the idea of two sides on a studio recording is old school, I'll play. My 6 favorite songs:

Clockwork Angels

Headlong Flight

The Anarchist

BU2B

Carnies

Caravan

However, at 37:25 it's about as long as many of their classics:

35:35 - Permanent Waves

36:14 - Hemispheres

37:18 - Fly By Night

37:37 - A Farewell to Kings

38:46 - 2112

IMO, this is better than any side of any Rush album:

Side 1 (21:43):

Clockwork Angels

Headlong Flight

The Anarchist

Instead of creating a best and worst side from the 12 songs, here are a couple options for an ass-kicking album of classic Rush length:

Side 1 (18:21):

Caravan

BU2B

Clockwork Angels

Side 2 (19:04):

The Anarchist

Carnies

Headlong Flight

Or a little longer (order chosen to make lengths of each side close to even):

Side 1 (21:55):

The Anarchist

BU2B

Carnies

The Wreckers

Side 2 (21:59):

Caravan

Clockwork Angels

BU2B2

Headlong Flight

At this point I've listened to the new record enough to form the following opinion: Clockwork Angels isn't their most consistant album, but it has the best 43:54 minutes of any Rush album.
