Lerxster
QUOTE (rushgoober @ Apr 30 2012, 10:24 AM) QUOTE (Lerxster @ Apr 30 2012, 08:09 AM) After some thought, a slight bit of deliberation and finally a check on the definition of epic, I conclude Headlong Flight is indeed EPIC! Ok, you think the song is epic - no argument here. But is it AN epic? It's an entirely different question. I don't really see that much difference in saying HF is epic or HF is an epic. If it is epic, then it also can be an epic. Epic is as epic is, eh? If it is epic, then it must be an epic, no? If the glove fits, wear it. Steel Rat
"AN epic" is a real word. The adjective "Epic" is more of a bastardized slang term; they DO mean different things. Is there anyone here who doesn't see that the confusion in this thread stems from this fundamental misunderstanding? Before we go on, let's get it straight: "An epic": (1) A huge, overarching, artistic composition, usually (but not always) centered upon a hero, in which a series of great achievements or events is narrated in elevated style (2) any composition resembling an epic. "epic:" Slang, meaning "awesome." Does anyone not agree with those terms? Edited May 1, 2012 by Steel Rat
