H. P. L.
Always nice to know when a young one discovers good music... Go on! Get Turn of the Cards and listen to Mother Russia. So you can go and read Aleksandr Solzenycin.
GeddyRulz
I love Renaissance! I saw them live in 2009 and then again less than a year later in 2010. Yep, Annie's voice is incredible. She's in her sixties now, so she's lost a little off her fastball, but still very good. Ashes are Burning is probably the best of their albums, but everything from their main sequence is good: Prologue Ashes are Burning Turn of the Cards Scheherazade and Other Stories Live at Carnegie Hall Novella A Song for All Seasons Azure d'Or http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/252/266117.jpg

GeddyRulz
QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Feb 15 2012, 04:04 PM) I listened to some of their stuff on Youtube and I liked it. Still need to get their albums though. I recommend their two-disc compilation: Tales of 1001 Nights, Volume I and Tales of 1001 Nights, Volume II. The first is better. greyfriar
:bump: Here's the trailer to the new Renaissance DVD.Annie is killer. I can't believe that she still can sing like that, especially at her age. Just WOW. http://youtu.be/0xVnuRTzN60 22.04.16 - ABC, Glasgow24.04.16 - Academy, Bournemouth,26.04.16 - Forum, Kentish Town (London) I wish I could go and see them... :sigh:
Lorraine
Grey, do you know who replaced her friend in the band that died last year? I forgot his name, but I understand they (he and Annie) were very good friends.
greyfriar
Michael Dunford was his name. I read a bit about his death and how the whole circumstances affected Annie. Edited April 19, 2016 by greyfriar
bean-tor
WOW is right, greyfriar! She's amazing!! Cyclonus (thanks again! :) ) introduced me to this band some time ago, and while I still have much to hear, I absolutely adore the album Ashes are Burning--such brilliant work! She has an astounding voice and, based on the trailer, I'm so glad to hear that's still the case :) Edited April 20, 2016 by bean-tor
