Wow! The Concord Show Was F'N Great!

Hey TFR's!

It helps living only 5 minutes from the Concord Pavilion!

Just got home from the show and they were spot on!

I'm glad I took six months off from Rush music because this show just knocked my socks off!

I thought the boys were going to be a bit laid back and slow but damn was I wrong.

I thought the energy was a lot better than the first leg. They are tighter than a tick's vagina. atickhum.gif

That's for you Tick! tongue.gif

The boys were on fire and Neil's solo was once again off the charts.

Neil's bus was out of the gate before most of the fans. No wonder Neil hates "Fly By Night" because that's Neil in a nutshell.

Tonight was the fastest that I have ever seen Neil flee a show. No police escort tonight. Just gone with the wind.

Anyway Geddy mentioned that the new album will be out before Christmas.

Not sure if that is old news but it's good news for us.

Christmas is going to come early for us diehard Rush fans.

The only complaint I have tonight was that there was some "feedback" in the system, other than that the show for my ears and eyes was perfect.

They truly are the greatest band in the world.

I can't wait for the next chapter in Rush History!

2012 baby!

RUSH ON!!

Was there last night too, and it was awesome. I was 6th row, right in front of Alex. A guy two rows in front, and a couple seats to the right of me got a set of Neil's sticks. You're right about the feedback, it seemed to come and go, and for the first two songs I could barely hear Geddy's bass(how is that even possible? tongue.gif), but they obviously fixed that, and Geddy made his normal monsterous presence felt for the rest of the show. Thought Alex had an excellent show, really nailed his solos, and his tones were really nice all night, although I still feel like the clean strumming on Presto is a bit thin on his Les Paul, but I don't think he could get between an acoustic on a stand and his Paul in time to transition between parts, it's obviously a compromise. That said, I love it in the set. From where I was standing, Geddy nailed the vocals on Freewill, and I thought he did an admirable job with Marathon, but I felt he struggled with The Camera Eye (just like last leg) and Red Barchetta (typical for the last few tours), but I'm nit picking. I'd love them to keep The Camera Eye in the set for the next tour, even if Geddy struggles a bit to sing it. Agree that Neil's solo was awesome. In particular, as a band I thought they rose to an unreal level on Freewill, La Villa and YYZ, but thats just me. Having heard the new songs live a second time now, they hint at some serious promise for the new record. I really like them both, but I like Caravan more. It already comes across like a classic to me. All in all a great show from the greatest band in the world.

Looks like Rush might be coming back to the Bay Area in August.

Fingers crossed.

It sure sounds like they could be back around next summer. I know it's looking ahead, but they need a 2012 tour in order to get a rest to take on a 40th anniversary tour. I hope they are up to it in 2014, but for now, like you, I can't wait until they hit the Bay Area again soon, and with new material too. If what Geddy has said recently about tinkering with an epic song again is true, combined with seeing the passion they have for playing the new songs, I just get the impression that we could be in store for something really special with the new record.

This time around I'd love to have more dates in the area. I was thinking yesterday how it seems like forever (the early 90's perhaps? I'd need to go look at the set list history to confirm) since they've done back to back shows (same venue, not Shoreline, then Concord) anywhere in the Bay Area. I'd love a couple nights in a row somewhere, but at their age I doubt it will happen. I'll be happy with Shoreline/Concord with a night off between.

A rockin' great show! I think all the complainers about Ged's voice listened to a different show than I attended because I thought he was in fine voice all night.

RUSHHEAD, I went looking for you a number of times but you were not at your seat before the show or at the break. My seat (#8 not #5) was just shy of being equal to the front row of the pit, just about 15 feet right of Ged's keyboard set-up...an amazing vantage point if you loves you some Geddy! Umoveme, I didn't even think to go looking for you in your row EE seats. Sorry I didn't meet more of you at the show but sure enjoyed the evening!

Rock on!

It was some kind of Geddylicious night, for sure! I literally did not see Neil directly once all night, just flailing sticks and arms above the kit. Alex was there but waaaaay over there! Geddy was RIGHT there and within arm's reach a couple of times...very cool and soooo much fun!

Damn Huge!!

These are some of the best close up shots of this tour that I have seen on here!!

As a drummer I always choose to be close up on the Alex side so I can get the better view of Neil!

Being on Alex's side is great too especially when you have a hot blonde wife by your side.

At the S&A Tour up in Marysville Alex handed my wife a pick.

It was EPIC!

Rock on!

I didn't make the connection you were referring to yesterday. (zoned out) I see you had asked in another thread about a rumor that Rush was coming back to the Bay in August. I hadn't heard this one, but I doubt it. Don't know why they'd come back here so soon, and they need a small break before getting down to business on the new songs. Would be cool if it happened though.

Boatloads of energy in Concord, without a doubt!

I was expecting them to be dragging ass at this point in the tour. Their fatigue was more than evident (to me, at least) towards the end of the S&A tour. Not this time! Smokin' hot and runnin' full bore on all cylinders!

So glad that I didn't pass this one up!

I agree the intensity was severe. They get better and better musically. From my lawn seat it seemed like Geddy was having trouble a bit, but that didn't stop him from doing his best. Alex....Alex is a world class bad-ass. My wife mentioned she would have his love child and I promptly OK'd it. He is so good it blows my mind. Neil was terrific song to song but his solos are boring anymore. He seems to be trying to be too 'artsy' and well....meh.

My 8 year old loved it but was complaining about all the "smoke". I have been to my fair share of concerts and knew there would be tokage but MY GOD MAN! I am still high!

Overall it was an excellent night of music. The solo section of Freewill was unlike I have ever heard before. As well, Marathon into Subdivisions was just perfect.

I was blown away the whole night! When they ran out and I saw them right in front of me, I actually teared up!!! I ended up getting one of the shirts Geddy threw, as well!

Amazing!

I agree. That show rocked! It was my first Rush show and was even better than I expected.

I was a little disappointed that they didn't play Natural Science, but I think I'll survive. biggrin.gif

They really did a great job of picking all types of songs. And I couldn't believe how awesome Presto sounded live. wub.gif
