circumstantial tree
QUOTE (paganoman @ May 3 2005, 04:38 PM) Discuss. Hell no! Makes me think of lighthouses (a beacon in the darkness). It's a pretty good intro into Cygnus X-1. I take it that Madrigal is the "odd" song Rush always talks about when doing an album. A last minute piece, if you will. Eikon
I like the line about Dragons becoming too mighty to slay with pen or sword. That rings true today when I picture certain world leaders

madra sneachta
I always thought it was a beautiful affirmation that amidst all the technology, progress and fantastical journies of life, that which is sought can be found through contact with a soul mate. Lovely instrumentation as well - An underrated classic IMO.

sfuentes
Good song. Almost necessary to "balance" out A Farewell To Kings. Only thing that I don't like about it is that it's never been played live!

physics23
Another song that's too short. I love its easy-going rhythm and feel. It doesn't put any pressure on you. Just light, mellow, melodic. And the message is optimistic, reassuring. It kind of builds up a little, but tapers off without actually peaking. And then "Cygnus X-1" kicks in............... Perfect. Perfect transition. Magnus
I think it's a great song, though it's definitely a softer style they've rarely wrote in. The one and only major thing I dislike about this song is the instrumentation. I'm sorry, but the squeaking synthesizer in the opening and the strings later on just don't do it for me. I agree that this would be a great song to be done live acoustically--without the 1970s synthesizers.
