The best part about a RUSH show is...

..the "bonding" of the fans.

I've seen RUSH several times through the years (hey, I was around for their "B.C. to A.D" tour) but for the first time ever, I went solo. I kind of figured it would be a lonely experience. But man, it was anything but.

Went to the Universal City show Wed. night and just "hung out" with some great people and a couple of other married guys "bacheloring-it" for a night.

Normally, when I do something on my own and my wife asks me how it was my stock answer is "oh, not as good as it would have been if you were there"(my hunch is she has never believed that b.s. anyway). But I have to say,a RUSH show is different in that regard.

So just felt like throwing out kudos to all the fans that became better than family for me over three hours plus. Enjoy the rest of the tour, everyone.

I agree that going solo can be fun, I went to Vancouver in 1997 by myself when my brother bailed on me and had a great time. I think I appreciated the music better since there was nobody around to distract me.

I totally agree! I haven't gone by myself since the first VT show I saw (second one that time around, I had my BF at the time with me, converting him to Rush). But, I went to the Seattle show solo and had a great time! Met up with some fans at the Muckleshoot Casino for the Rush tribute band before the show. Made some new friends and just had a great time all around! No kid to worry about (have taken my son to every concert since the '07 S&A tour), no husband to argue with after the show (every show since R30).

Just me...and thousands of other fans! I'm also going to Vegas by myself! I am sure it will be awesome! I am DEFINITELY going to make a habit of going to at least 1 show a tour by myself. 1022.gif

Going solo is fun for almost any concert not just Rush. Honestly, as soon as the show starts i'm not paying attention or talking to the people I went with anyways. If it's a general admission show most of the time I lose who i'm with during it and we just meet up where we parked afterwards laugh.gif

I have no problem either way. If I go to a show alone that's fine and if I go with people that's fine to. The main point is once the show starts i'm concertrating on that and not weather i'm with anyone or not.

i had no problem at all going solo for the second half of the S&A tour. i brokered 3rd row seats and didn't expect anyone else to splurge for that, and i'm able to yuck it up with anybody...hell, especially other regular shlubs like me.... it was an awesome experience and my favorite rush concert, because i didn't have to placate to anyone and got to have Rush all to myself!

This tour i will be tailgating with a bunch of old elementary school, and high school friends that i haven't seen since those days, and we all have the common bond of RUSH!

We all purchased lawn seats, and we'll hang together.... next year i'll splurge for up close again!

I'm comfortable enough with myself to go it alone whenever! it's easier!

My better half did her duty by coming along for the Counterparts tour...

I know you're married, but for the single female Rush fans out there -

Don't have a boyfriend? Want one? Go solo to a Rush concert. You'll have a variety to select from. Of course, the only guarantee is that the prospective new BF will have good taste in music. The rest is a crapshoot. laugh.gif

I went to the HYF show solo, as a 20 year old college student, and had a BLAST.

When people found out that I was going to a Rush concert solo the first comment was how weird it was (from almost everyone).
Especially since they're coming here early next month.

heck yea same with me but you know what, better going than never to have gone. Even though i was alone, a nice guy right next to me was in the same state and it made me comfortable. so i just a had a little chat during intermission, offered him some chips, and let him take a look at my program book.. oh yeah and it was my first time seeing rush, but well worth it as we all know!

I travel 35 weeks annually with my work and I see them alot, while on the road myself,...so solo happens most of the time.

I typically sit up close, so everyone else around is normally an avid fan, so I always have things to talk about before the show, during the intermission, etc.
