  2. QUOTE (Del_Duio @ Sep 9 2010, 10:03 AM) Naw, won't happen. I also don't think they'll play The Camera Eye again after this tour either. Probably not Vital Signs either why do they like Witch Hunt better than Vital Signs (( Vital Signs is such a great tune! and I would LOVE to hear Permanant Waves in it's entirety!!! and I personally don't think Different Strings would drag down the show, I'm sure in context during the concert it would be beautiful and fit!
  3. QUOTE (ForceTen @ Sep 3 2010, 06:34 PM) 36 shirts? What's the significance of the number? I think it's how long they've been together...I'm not exactly sure of though
  4. is there anyplace to find the polka version of Closer to the Heart that was playing after the show? it was highly enjoyable!
  5. QUOTE (Rushchick10 @ Aug 12 2010, 12:42 PM) I totally agree! I haven't gone by myself since the first VT show I saw (second one that time around, I had my BF at the time with me, converting him to Rush). But, I went to the Seattle show solo and had a great time! Met up with some fans at the Muckleshoot Casino for the Rush tribute band before the show. Made some new friends and just had a great time all around! No kid to worry about (have taken my son to every concert since the '07 S&A tour), no husband to argue with after the show (every show since R30). Just me...and thousands of other fans! I'm also going to Vegas by myself! I am sure it will be awesome! I am DEFINITELY going to make a habit of going to at least 1 show a tour by myself. a girl converting a guy into a Rush fan!?!?!?! that's out of the ordinary!
  6. QUOTE (Paulio91184 @ Jul 23 2010, 06:07 PM) due to the low light at times on stage, the fact that he is playing some sick bass line and singing all at the same time, they are reference points. If you look they are all on C keys which gives him a quicker acquisition of the correct notes to be played actually I just saw a pic. of the keyboard, they aren't all C's. many of them aren't actually. so I think they are sample triggers
  7. It took a while to get out of the Mohegan Sun...but it wasn't too bad. Maybe 45 minutes. If i were you I would try to park somewhere near the exit so you can get out quickly. But even if you are going to be late to where you're going DO NOT miss this show!
  8. QUOTE (Workaholic Man @ Aug 3 2010, 06:46 PM) If Geddy and Alex said it, then that's official enough for me! The waiting will be painful....as always.... what about "the song?" hahaha
  9. if they keep La Villa then I hope Alex does his rants! I've never seen one live only on Youtube and they're amazing!!!
  10. SET 1 THE SPIRIT OF RADIO TIME STAND STILL PRESTO STICK IT OUT WORKIN' THEM ANGELS LEAVE THAT THING ALONE FAITHLESS BU2B FREE WILL MARATHON SUBDIVISIONS SET 2 TOM SAWYER RED BARCHETTA YYZ LIMELIGHT CAMERA EYE WITCH HUNT VITAL SIGNS CARAVAN LOVE 4 SALE CLOSER TO THE HEART 2112 OVERTURE / TEMPLES FAR CRY ENCORE LA VILLA STRANGIATO WORKING MAN okay there's the set-list. What songs do you think they will carry over to the next tour? and what songs would YOU like them to carry over (if any)? for me. I think they will keep: Caravan, BU2B, Tom Sawyer Far Cry Spirit Freewill Subdivisions. And I personally would like them to keep: Marathon Red Barchetta Closer To the Heart Marathon Vital Signs (as much as I LOVED the Camera's Eye, I would like to have them switch it with a full version of Natural Science, I heard they only did a short version of it for the S&A tour, which the first leg of it was my first Rush Concert and I didn't know very many Rush songs then.) for me, with this past tour being only my second tour and the first tour where I knew a lot of their material, I personally would love to hear songs others are sick of again. but at the same time I would love a way different set list next time to hear stuff I haven't heard before.
  11. QUOTE (darth by tor @ Jul 30 2010, 09:53 AM) That is a truly fantastic shot!! Here's my fave of the bunch I took at Mohegan Sun Geddy "Willing" himself to hit a high note in (SPOILER) http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash2/hs026.ash2/34668_426906098112_642838112_4724185_4833309_n.jpg was this during the song that came after BU2B (to avoid spoiling what hte song actually is)
  12. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Jul 30 2010, 05:43 AM) QUOTE (aliceintool @ Jul 29 2010, 10:11 PM) I personally thought FarCry was a great closer. there was the deceptive cadence type ending with 2112 and then BOOM! into the rockin' intro to Farcry! it was awesome in my book!!! Very nice! Someone has actually studied music. I haven't seen the concert yet. But from what you decribed they hang the fifth or forth chord at the end of 2112... which would be called a deceptive cadance like you mentioned. Impressive. well by deceptive cadence type ending for 2112 it's just the regular ending to Temple of Syrinx. Now I don't know the chords for that song well enough so I don't know if by hanging onto the 4th or 5th IS in fact what they usually do in the song or if you're thinking they do something different. but they do end the song normally just that with the ending being how it is for Temple it doesn't resolve and it leaves you wanting more...and then Farcry would act as the one to resolve (or in actual deceptive style act as the 6 cause it keeps going). I don't think there actually is a deceptive cadence (actually I know there isn't because deceptive NEVER happens at the end of a song) I just said deceptive TYPE cause that's the best way I could describe it...and I hope this whole thing wasn't too confusing and you have a good sense of what they do (with some theory to boot!) but when I learned deceptive cadence, I learned it was 5 goes to 6 and it happens in the middle of a song. not it ending on a 4 or 5 chord. I think that's called a half cadence or something. I could be wrong it's been a while

  14. I brought a newbie to the mohegan sun show and even though she (yes, a female) didn't know a lot of the songs, she had an incredible time and was in awe by Peart's drum solo (she's a drummer). Rush is a good band to bring newcomers too, cause they're all fantastic musicians so you can still follow the music even if you don't know it, and the show never dissapoints either!
  15. When I saw the stickers I was thinking sample triggers, cause it looked like he wasn't playing a single one of them while shredding all over like a madman! but they could just be references, which also makes just as much sense!
  16. I went to a Black Sabbath concert a few years ago (with Dio as the singer RIP) and I mainly went for Megadeth. I enjoy Black Sabbath but I liked them more with Ozzy, and Megadeth rocked harder in my opinion. But other than that, all other openning bands I've seen are aweful! Like Meat Puppet when they openned for STP
  17. I'm just curious to see what people's favorite songs were. either for the song itself or the song with the best show design (like with the lights/fire/video). for the song itself the real treats for me was Red Barchetta and Vital Signs. THis was only my second concert and I've never heard those live before and they were absolutely beautiful! (and Red Barchetta is my favorite Rush song, whenever I'm in the car with it on I have to go a minimum of 10 mph over the speed limit ) and show-wise I'm really going to go with any song that had more focus on the lights than a video, like YYZ, that was a lot of lights!!!
  18. Last night at mohegan they started right on time! not a minute later than the scheduled time!!
  19. While I personally enjoyed the second set more than the first, the first set was kick-ass!!! I enjoyed every song off of it!
  20. I've noticed that whenever I go to a concert, I don't listen anything by that band from the day before until the concert. It's probably just me fearing that maybe I'll just get out of the mood for that certain band come concert time. but yeah that's what I do and I am doing that currently for the Rush concert tomorrow. am I the only one?
  21. the only guess I could have would be a young dai vernon
  22. Tool is one of my favorite bands! and I cannot wait for their next CD to come out! my top 3 CDs by them are Aenima, Lateralus, and 10k Days. and my favorite track off each one is: Opiate: either Opiate or Jerk-off Undertow: ether prison sex or disgustipated Aenima: Eulogy Lateralus: The Grudge or Ticks & Leeches 10,000 Days: Rosetta Stoned
  23. I'm going with The Way the Wind Blows and Armour and Sword. but this whole CD is amazing!
