For those that have been to a show already, can you let me know after which song(s) any pyrotechnic special effects take place?

 

I would like to time one of my pics so I can get a shot of whatever pops up in the background, e.g. the fire flames on the S&A tour.

 

It's usually after the first song of the second set, but just want to check.

 

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Tons of steam erupts from ged and al's amps in various points during BU2B

 

Loud boom in Marathon after "Shot in the Dark"

 

Flames on the intro of Witch Hunt

 

Flames, Fireworks, (both in quick succession early on) and lots of steam on Caravan

 

Fire at the end of the 2112 Overture

 

Fireworks in Far Cry, just before second chorus (same as SnA tour)

 

pretty sure thats it but i might be forgetting some

Side note: We were a fair number of rows away from the stage and when those flames shot up, I could feel a serious blast of heat.

laugh.gif what Nate said - I couldn't remember half of the pyro triggers that I got shots on. When I'm there, I remember them - more of a "feeling" than anything. Sadly I couldn't remember the exact song moments to give you - but seriously, if you can see Gump behind the kit, if you look to when he takes a towel and puts it over his head and back and hunches down - that's a good key that they're using Pyro very soon in the song.

I opted against including the one from this tour. It didn't turn out as well. But now that I'm talking about it, I guess I might as well.

I'm going to bring in a Sony Cybershot.

Canon Powershot G9

It's a small, Point and Shoot size camera that has a good portion of the features of an SLR (just not the full options of the detachable lenses), in a compact body. It shoots manual and has the option to shoot in RAW as well as in JPEG. It's a great camera for concerts. The current model is the Powershot G11 - a friend of mine has it and has used it to great success at Rush shows smile.gif

Big bang during Far Cry, like on S & A tour.

 

Lots of fire during Witch Hunt.

 

During Caravan, lyrics include the word "fire"...LOTS of big flames then. I don't know those lyrics well so can't say exactly when that occurs but be ready and you'll get some good shots.

 

I've used a Canon PowerShot G7 for all my concert shots and it is amazing! If the G9 is indeed an evolution of the G7 and truly better, it will take great photos.
