QUOTE (Syrinx @ Feb 17 2011, 02:08 PM) Rusher - where have I misread a thread?? if you have been on this forum for a few years you would have seen that any attempt to do business or to draw attention to auctions is frowned upon by a lot of people, regardless of price asked. It somehow sullies this board. And there is a real resentment among many when someone asks a high price for something they own. Like that should really bother you. All I am saying is I would prefer a seperate site, where there would be no backlash and the sole interest would be to buy, sell or trade. Yes, you're right. Once I have been on these boards as long as you have I will have gained the profound wisdom of how message boards work. It's a lofty goal, but I will try. And really, you talk in circles. You say in the other thread "why does anyone get uptight when they see someone selling something for a high price? It is a free world." That really doesn't jive with your post here, does it? And I agree with your last sentence. Never once did I or anyone else in the other thread even hint that such a board should not be created. Why do you and Rummut keep inferring that one of us did?

QUOTE (usb_connector @ Feb 16 2011, 03:02 PM) You took my quote out of context. I specified THOSE autographs were overpriced. I support a site dedicated to Rush memerobilia and I would understand the high prices for items that are extremely rare, but sendind an item to a venue will get it back signed by the three band members provided they get them during this tour. That's what I've been trying to tell Syrinx and Rummut all along. Those comments (not complaints) were just about that auction in particular. And for some reason, those 2 are very sensitive about people commenting on the auction. BTW - no one says anything against having a Rush memorabilia section, for trade and/or sale. I have no idea where they're reading that. I for one think that's a great idea for everybody.

QUOTE (Syrinx @ Feb 16 2011, 01:38 PM) Check out the thread "My Rush autographs on Ebay" and you will see how people feel about doing business on this site. It should be a separate site altogether. Yes, please read that thread and see if anyone anywhere says people should not be allowed to sell Rush items. Way to completely misread a thread and then complain about it in another one. Sorry RushChick10. Don't mean to clutter your thread. Just don't want you to be misled by Syrinx.
  4. Just so everyone knows, my original post was meant to be on the humorous side. I guess it didn't come across like that. I realize that having fans pick songs on the spot for Rush to perform is not realistic. Sorry that the post elicited more serious replies than anticipated.

QUOTE (ReflectedLight @ Feb 7 2011, 05:07 PM) QUOTE (rusher @ Feb 7 2011, 04:45 PM) Spinning Wheel But what if it keeps landing on Faithless?? when the song is played you take it off the wheel. i'm willing to take a chance. More of a rhetorical question, but stating the obvious I guess can't hurt.

I'm hoping to see them after the Newcastle gig. Em.. I've never tried this, but I don't think it's a very good idea. That might come off as a little bit stalker-ish.. I cannot see any harm done if you know the band are staying there. It's not like you are sneaking about the hotel trying to find which room they are staying in. Very much like waiting at the stage door after a show. The difference being every one waits there, and only a few people make the journey to the hotel. I was very lucky to see Heaven & Hell (Black Sabbath) on the last 2007 UK tour before Ronnie took bad. One of the road crew gave me a tipp off to what hotel they were staying in. After a short wait of 30 mins all the band showed up and signed all my tour books etc. Geezers nephew, who is his PA. He went one better and came out with a bunch of guitar picks for the fans. It's such a shame that Ronnie is no longer with us. He was such a lovely friendly guy. It's been hammered to death on these boards - but Neil hates it when fans seek him out after a show. Freaks him out (and rightfully so). Don't try to follow his bus (or bike) as you will get a word or two from his crew. What makes you think that i'd be interested to follow Neil on his bike. All i wanted to know was if he still does the touring on his bike. If he doesn't he'd more then likely be with the band instead of being on a separate bus etc. I don't think Neil would turn to stone when asked if he could sign my copy of Ghost Rider. He may stay away from the fans but i'm sure if he was asked nicely to sign something he would be humble and do so. He does meet and greets so he must find time to be sociable with the fans. Your making him out to be some kind of sad loner. Seriously? 1) If you ask if anyone has met the band at the hotel and then ask if Neil still tours on his bike in the same sentence, then it's not a big leap at all to infer that your intentions are similar. 2) I'm sure Neil would sign your book if you had the chance to ask him. The issue is - would you have the chance to? The way he goes about the tours purposely limits these encounters. Try reading one of his books and you might learn how he feels about interactions with the fans. 3) Neil does NOT do meet and greets (at least not anymore). That is pretty common knowledge. 4) I never said Neil was a loner. You really should make an effort to learn more about his ways with fans before you make your comments. I'm sure he doesn't mind controlled, planned events with fans (e.g. charity events and such). But chance encounters, that's a different story.

  10. QUOTE (MarKo @ Jan 5 2011, 08:13 PM) There does seem to be some kind of history there...but a fight in a bar ?! Surely not? I cannot imagine Geddy getting into a bar brawl. That would be some sight. And stop calling me Shirley!!
  11. Anyone who sends money to an individual person before receiving the product that is not through a legit market (eBay, Amazon, stubhub and such) is just asking to be taken. Especially on Craigslist.
  12. QUOTE (Janie @ Sep 29 2010, 12:17 PM) http://i378.photobucket.com/albums/oo228/LifesonPics/Picture1861.jpg I also have my signed MP album cover framed too and hanging next to the tour books. Man, those tour books look awesome. It would be cool to have all the tour books put up and framed. Sort of like a museum.
  13. And he posted this a couple of days before creating this thread: "MSG $198 PER TIX (16 row & back) RIDICULOUS!!! " But I guess 12 rows closer is worth another $400. Strange indeed.
  14. QUOTE (TheBluePhoenix @ Dec 9 2010, 11:53 AM) QUOTE (Digital Man @ Dec 9 2010, 11:19 AM)QUOTE (GhostGirl @ Dec 9 2010, 10:51 AM) I'm more than a little uncomfortable about someone using this forum to sell a ticket that is marked up THAT much. I agree, we let people post ticket sales here but it's always been at face value (plus fees sometimes). I realize the seller has been a member for a while and doesn't seem to be a broker. Letting this stay seems as if we are condoning the scalping of tickets. We don't allow people to sell bootlegs or distribute songs or cd's to each other. This is the same thing IMO. I sure some see it as the same but it's not the same. The difference is that selling bootlegs is illegal and reselling tickets at a profit is legal. I would sell an extra ticket to a personal friend for what I paid for it. If they don't want it then it goes on eBay to the highest bidder. But when you set the starting price at $600, there's not much bidding to be done.
  15. QUOTE (FoxxiStarr @ Nov 10 2010, 03:09 PM) My signed Archives album http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt227/DeathGlamIndustries/Rush/DSCF0787.jpg When did they sign that for you? The sigs look more detailed than now. Of course that happens with most celebs who sign a lot.
  16. QUOTE (Motorshooter @ Nov 2 2010, 11:47 AM) Mine is now ready to hang! http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL1162/4052066/10251020/393082564.jpg Very cool. I wonder who signed first? Did you send the silver sharpie or was that Alex's own doing? And I can see by the salutation by Alex that he wrote the salutation on mine.
  17. Does anyone have any experience sending something to the studio to get signed? I would think there might be a good chance there since they wouldn't be as "rushed" with their time.
  18. QUOTE (Huge Ackman @ Oct 7 2010, 04:25 PM) QUOTE (32Ford @ Oct 5 2010, 05:35 AM) Got mine back yesterday from Atlanta as well. Mine back from Atlanta today! Woo HOO! Very HOT! (16" x 20" poster/photo print) http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z33/bfwgjma/Rush%20posters/Rushposter001.jpg Straight to the framer after work...this one will get a special place among my Rush goodies... I take it that's a picture you took yourself? Very cool.
  19. QUOTE (Janie @ Oct 1 2010, 09:19 AM) QUOTE (rusher @ Sep 30 2010, 03:43 PM) Just wanted to post a pic of the finished display for my wall. It was even wife-approved. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/photostart/DSC_0482.jpg God did that turn out NICE! Good job! I really like it. Thanks guys for the compliments. What I like most about my piece is that the picture is from the their Permanent Waves days and the ticket is from the Time Machine Tour. A ticket dated 2010 and pic from 30 years before.

  21. QUOTE (shaun3701 @ Sep 20 2010, 12:40 PM) if there isn't a Time Machine DVD I'll riot. Ok not really, but I'll be extremely disappointed... I swear if we don't get Marathon and Camera Eye on DVD I'm going to lose my mind. Isn't Marathon on a Show of Hands? Definitely need the Camera Eye though.
  22. QUOTE (LakesideMaiden @ Sep 26 2010, 10:05 PM) I had stated earlier in the thread what I had sent actually...I wasn't trying to come across condescending at all, I was merely trying to clarify that I wasn't trying to take advantage of getting multiple items signed - that isn't something that I would ever do, and I took a mild offense to someone I barely know implying that I was - hence the clarification. I was not intending to come across as condescending at all, and if I did, I apologize. Hey, it's all good. Sometimes the written word has a different effect than the spoken word. I'm sure you meant no harm. About your situation, perhaps because your son's name is pretty original, maybe they didn't recognize it as such. Also, I imagine, at least some of the times, someone on their staff takes care of the personalizations, and the band just goes down the line signing the items.
  23. QUOTE (LakesideMaiden @ Sep 25 2010, 11:51 PM) QUOTE (jdouglas @ Sep 25 2010, 09:43 AM) QUOTE (LakesideMaiden @ Sep 24 2010, 01:36 PM) QUOTE (Janie @ Sep 20 2010, 10:36 AM) QUOTE (varney2613 @ Sep 19 2010, 06:20 PM) QUOTE (SeaTurtle @ Sep 19 2010, 08:05 PM) I'm not sure about sending a note with it, though, and am wondering if I should bother since it seems they aren't being read. I'm not sure who is reading them, but someone is. My note was the only place where I wrote my name and since my album was personalized, someone had to have read it. It can't hurt to throw in a note. I agree. Send a little note and sign it so they can personalize it for you. And by personalize I mean, they will put your name on it. What I meant by someone not reading notes was that I had included a note attached with my TSOR guitar sheet music. It seems like if someone had read it they would have understood why I was sending it in, why it was special to me and why I wanted Alex to sign it. Also, LM sent something in she wanted personalized for her son but that didn't happen either. What's weird about it is that I signed each of the notes (and there was one for each of them in it's own envelope, with a family photo of us) from Kathy, David and Niall - so you'd think that if they we're not going to follow the direction of the letter and personalize it to who I asked (Niall) that they would put it to the persons that signed the letter (Kathy, David and Niall)...instead, it was just to Kathy and David. Just weird... *edited to say that I'm not complaining by any means, I am so happy that I have something signed by them...I'm just sad that I don't have something signed to my son, which was the point of sending it in...* Why didn't you just send in one photo and say please sign it for my son if that is what you wanted? Definitely a bit of too much of a good thing going on with a few here when you send in multiple things to multiple places, right? to clarify - * it was one package sent to one venue with four items in the package. The item for them to sign (a tour book), and three envelopes (one each for Alex, Geddy and Neil). * inside each envelope there was a letter (each said the same exact thing, asking for them to sign the tourbook, personalizing it to my son), and a picture of the three of us for them to keep for themselves - a small personalization so they knew who was sending them the request, as I read in Roadshow that they do actually like and keep their fan letters. Not really that complicated. In jdouglas' defense, your original post said you sent a tourbook and a separate envelope for each member. You didn't state that the envelopes were for them to keep. So it could easily have been construed that you might have wanted all 4 things signed. No need to sound condescending.
  24. QUOTE (Motorshooter @ Sep 23 2010, 08:54 AM) QUOTE (rusher @ Sep 22 2010, 05:27 PM) I sent in this picture to the Bristow VA venue. Very cool they take the time to sign items. http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a113/photostart/Rush.jpg You got yours back already!!!??? I'm still waiting for my Hemisperes poster from Bristow...maybe today...maybe today I see that you're in VA too. Hmm. Are you having them send it back to you in one of those poster tubes? Maybe they take a bit longer to be shipped. Hopefully it will arrive in the next couple of days.
