Xanadoood
I have always heard that she is indeed quite talented, and very musical. A co workers friend, who is a classically trained keyboardist, plays in her back up band. It is amazing how much image can make or break an artist. RUSHHEAD666
QUOTE (iluvgeddy05 @ Jun 26 2010, 04:20 PM) http://dailycontributor.com/stefani-german...lady-gaga/8780/ I want to get my hands on her first album under her real name -- I gotta do some searching now. Very nice. My daughters just watched the clip and loved it. Interesting week on here. Talking a lot about Katy Perry and Lady GaGa. I like both of these women. I guess having two daughters and a young wife has been influencing my audio intake. Then again my girls enjoyed "Beyond The Lighted Stage." I have the "Best Of Both Girls." Spindrift82
Lady Gaga's stuff is okay, but her songs before she became 'Lady Gaga' were amazing. I still don't understand why she didn't stick with that sound, she could have been the next Paula Cole. I also really like Katy Perry, too. In fact, I'll probably go see Katy live when and if she tours down here (I wouldn't be caught dead at a Gaga concert, however...too much weirdness.) It's a shame that Gaga felt she had to change her image and become 'freakish' in order to sell. Sometimes I think that the controversy sells her albums more than anything else (but Katy does it, too; anyone catch that California Gurls video? It was like a softcore porn video. )
H. P. L.
very interesting find! Thanks for sharing. You can tell Gaga is VERY talented, I don't particularly like her songs, but maybe she will outgrow the Britneys and the Christinas and, in time, give us a truly adult record. Tick
When you said before Lady Gaga, I thought you were talking about Madonna. After all, she is nearly a 100%percent ripoff.

Unfortunately she then had to go with the synthetized voice route (like Shakira did), ending up another plastic wreck. What a way to squander a gift! But there's still hope. I did not buy Bionic yet... and I'm not really pressed too. I LOVE Stripped, and Back to Basics was a great effort too. As for Gaga, I feel she was always *weird* but didn't think she would make it as a plain-jane singer. I mean, there is not way in the pop music industry today that she could be Stefani Germanotta and make the impact she is. Hate it or love it, but it's true. Christina Aguilera herself conformed to bubble-gum pop on her first record to break in -- then went her own way and look, she's a true artist. We'll see what progresses. launchpad67a
I love her, she's very talented. Great songwriter, great singer, great performer, genius marketing. That old video is amazing. She sure can sing.
Xanadu93
I read the huge article about her in the latest Rolling Stone, and I want to go out and buy all of her records. I also watched an interview with her on TV, and she seems very intelligent. That article has several pictures of her through the years, and one of them is her senior year picture. She looks beautiful! (Not that she doesn't look beautiful now, it's just so different.) If it wasn't labeled there's no way I'd imagine that it was her. Here's the picture; she's on the first row, on the left. http://static.gigwise.com/gallery/6335593_LadyGaga-years-33.jpg

I actually find it insulting that you lumped her in with Britney, who outside of what her producers do, has absolutely no musical appeal.

H. P. L. I'm sure you can find lots of more important matters to which direct your bitterness, apart from my opinions. You cannot find anything but respect in my post, towards Gaga, Christina or anyone else. It's safe to say that their respective marketing depts aim towards the same audience, thus the fact that Christina, Gaga and Britney share the same room in one of my phrases. That said, I'm dying for an ADULT Christina record, which she could surely make. Same as Gaga. Could Britney do it? Don't think so. There, happy now? rotting
I enjoy her music, she's extremely talented. She reminds me of madonna's ( 80's era ) music but better. BTW - thanks for the clip, it was most awesome.
