Dark Horizons reports:

MI6 reports that Oscar-nominee Clive Owen has shot down recent reports that he's a finalist for the role of James Bond in the upcoming "Casino Royale" saying "They have never approached me, it's nothing but a rumor."

Owen's next project will be director Wolfgang Petersen's remake of The Poseidon Adventure. He'll portray the role of Reverend Frank Scott originally played by Gene Hackman in the 1972 feature. "Clive's thrilled. Even if he leaves (the Oscars) empty-handed, he'll be able to take great comfort from the fact Wolfgang wants him in the film," said a source.

Does this rule out Owen for Bond? Despite no official approach, not necessarily. "Poseidon" is about to begin shooting shortly on the Warners lot and should be wrapped by late Summer/early Fall whereas "Casino Royale" doesn't being filming til either late Fall or early 2006.
