neilpeart_gal
I sort of hate it for Jamie Foxx that he's up for both actor AND supporting. I hope he doesn't somehow cancel himself out of both in the voting. Haven't seen 'Ray' yet, but he was good in 'Collateral.' I'm surprised at the Aviator cleaning up (though not really given as its Scorsese). Haven't even seen it yet, any good? I think Scorsese has a lock on director, just cos of the nostalgia factor alone. Recognizeable director but no Oscar. He's almost a lock to me, but what do I know? anagramking
I'd love to see the performance of whoever beats out Jamie Foxx in Ray. That was an amazing performance. It was so good we thought it was Ray himself.

Sodoff Baldrick
I'm sorry to say this is the first year I haven't seen any of the major nominees. I have a lot of catching up to do. I do agree that Scorcese is a lock this year, because the Academy will feel "he's due." Seems with many of these awards, a win late in one's career is almost a lifetime achievement award. I'm thinking of Al Pacino in particular who, though he was good in Scent of a Woman, did much better work deserving of an award.
Digital Man
Man after reading that list I realized I need to get a life. I have seen 5 of the movies on the list, but 4 of them are kids movies (3 animated). I need to meet more adults.

war2112
I had to see what the fuss was about with Million Dollar Baby so I saw it today. To be honest it's pretty derivative and manipulative, but I found it to be pretty damn affecting nonetheless. I'm an Eastwood fan anyway, particularly in regards to direction, but this was Hillary Swank's film and I have to say I thought she pulled it off admirably. She was convincing enough to cover some glaring problems with the movie. Edited January 31, 2005 by war2112

anagramking
We saw Closer last weekend. Natalie Portman outdid her Garden State performance in this one. She absolutely stole the movie. And the movie itself was quite interesting and well written.
