Jack Aubrey
QUOTE (pixey @ Feb 4 2007, 10:15 AM) You wound me so. When my 11 year old son (at the time) was all gung ho about this series of "literature", I had been hearing crap about it on tv. [/quote] Well then if you heard about it on tv then it must be the gospel. As I said before, read the whole series. The first 2 books are aimed at the kids but they are definatel not now. If you dont like it then thats good for you but I love the series and it seems quite a few others do too. Seems like Necro and Jack just want to start crap in this thread. So funny. Better be glad I dont have magicl powers and a wand, I would Sectum Sempra your butts. You remind me of one of those trekkies. "You're lucky I don't have a phaser, or I'd vaporize you!" Yeah, whatever Spock.

Jack Aubrey
To all of you delightful Harry Potter fans: I may be poking good-natured fun at all of you but that doesn't mean I don't like you anymore. I pick on all of my friends, and they pick back, and it's cool. Just thought I should say that. Now go read a real book!

What, I'm not allowed to try and make up for what may have been a mistake, to tell people who may have taken something the wrong way that that's not how it was meant? I guess in Pixeyworld everybody is required to be perfect. Sorry to let you down.
Slime
Don't worry about it, Jack. The one thing about being an old enough HP fan is to be big enough to take a good ribbing for it! I really think Harry Potter has made the world's civilized nations a much better society and Rowling should win a Nobel Prize for her work. Still kidding. That could be considered a political statement - and thereby Goobs would lose visibility to it once it got moved. Should be move this part of the discussion to how the Ministry of Magic is, or is not similar to Scotland Yard, and Parliament?

rushgoober
With the amount Rowling has the ability to meander (although it's always a truly wonderful meander), I'm actually almost apprehensive about how she's going to complete the story, with the amount that must be left to be told, in one book, even if it's a 700 pager! I would imagine she'll have to stay more on track and go off on less tangents than she usually does to accomplish completing the book. Regardless, I'm sure it'll be amazing as always.
