Stormtron Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 So I've been listening to this new Brand New album The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me pretty much nonstop, wondering what the hell happened to this band. I remember their old stuff sucking, but this might be my favorite album of the year. There's plenty of good bands that fell off, but are there any bands you used to think were shitty, but changed their style to something you like?
tangy Posted November 22, 2006 Posted November 22, 2006 Wow, thats a tough one. I can't name one off the top pf my head. I suspect most us after determining that something is bad rarely give the band a second chance. I applaud you for keeping an open mind.
PuppetKing2112 Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 The new My Chemical Romance album is pretty good, I think.
thestand Posted November 23, 2006 Posted November 23, 2006 John Mayer, but it's weird how it happened. Before his big-label debut, he was a respectable artists. A&R guys chased him, and said if he toned the songs down, he'd get signed. His first two major label albums sucked. All cheap poppy soft rock shit. Then he released John Mayer Trio's "Try!" album, and it was my favorite live album of 2005. This year he released "Continuum" and the album is amazing. He's at the point where he can do what he wants to do, and is much better than his old schtick. EDIT: Oh, and it doesn't hurt that he's one of the funniest celebrities I've ever met/seen.
