Necromancer
QUOTE (Arndrake @ Sep 10 2006, 06:47 AM) Congrats And congrats to Fordham over Albany today. How involved was Kenny in that win? Thanks Arn. Kenny was worked in and out at Fullback the whole game. After last season when he got suspended for having 1-AD in his system, he worked his way back this year from 4deep to shared time with another guy at the fullback slot. I'm sure by the end of the year, he may just be the only fullback. I couldn't go to the game, but from what he just told me he was responsible for some of the key blocks for tailback James Prydatko's runs. Prydatko had nearly 150 yards rushing in the game. So all in all... not a bad performance from Kenny. What sucks is that the coach that originally recruited Ken, used the fullback extensively in his offense. Most coaches today don't. He was a tailback in high school and an all-state strong safety. He turned down other offers from schools cuz the offer was so good from Fordham. He was promised a lot of carries. That coach quit and went to Richmond before Kenny even got there. His offensive coordinator, Foley, took over at head coach. He used Kenny as a freshman. Ken started at fullback in his first college D-1 game. Outlook for him was very high, naturally. Then last season the 1A-D fiasco really knocked him back. Then on top of that... Foley resigned and now there's a new coach who barely uses the fullback other than to block. It basically sucks as far as carries goes. He's still playing and he has this and next year left to make his presence known. Believe me... if you ever get on the recieving end of one of HIS blocks... his presence is KNOWN. He kills people with his blocks. Ever since he was a little kid, he's been vicious on the field. Not trying to sound like i'm complaining... he's still getting a free education from one of the best schools in the country, which is utmost of importance. It's just a shame how things fell. I think the new coach is having his eyes opened though as to what Ken is capable of. It usually doesn't take coaches long to see what he can do. Necromancer
QUOTE (Arndrake @ Sep 19 2006, 06:15 AM) Hey, Necro. I just checked out how Fordham did last week and also found Kenny's roster entry on ESPN.com. Here's hoping he gets more carries and picks up some huge gains. On special teams Saturday, Ken got hurt. He was on the line on a kickoff return and they squibbed it. Instead of just diving on it, Ken picked it up and began to return it. He had to hurdle a player, and when he did he got hit by a guy on the hip with the guys facemask. He has a severe hip pointer. OUCH!!! They have a bye this week, so he should be back next week at home. He's in some serious pain, but luckily the hip didn't fracture at all. Remember BO??? I don't see his coach giving him too many carries in the FB slot, but as long as he's out there blocking, then the tailback will do quite well. Ken's a helluva blocker. Thanks for checking him out Arn.
Necromancer
http://i84.photobucket.com/albums/k35/necro44rf/fridaynightlights.jpg I call the picture "Friday Night Lights Go Down" Last night was "THE BELL GAME". It's the yearly battle of the two Scranton teams. The Knights of Scranton vs. our WEST SCRANTON INVADERS. I've been to five Bell Games that my sons were a part of. Last night was my final one. Of the five heated rivalries, my boys only won two of them. Last night we relinquished The Bell in a very hard fought, injury plaqued, emotional rollercoaster of a game. It was so sad to hold my behemoth of a son as he cried his heart out. These rivalries can be so emotional. I've seen every end of the spectrum that the emotions can run in my years of pee-wee and high school football. Last nights setting sun on all those years really affected me. It pretty much summed up a lot of how I was feeling. Though the sun was setting and it was coming to an end... it was beautiful. That's how I feel about this whole high school football thing. It was beautiful, but it's also beautiful that it's coming to an end. After this year, unless I have grandkids on the field... I will probably never attend another Bell Game. Maybe if my boys want to go to one someday, but that's about it. The feelings of watching my own flesh and blood do battle out there will probably be done. Kinda bittersweet, y'know? Necromancer
That was a heart-wrenching defeat. My son's team didn't have the best record for a playoff bound team. 5-5 isn't your normal record to make the playoffs. They were injury plaqued all year and they finally got healthy and peaked at the right time. Unfortunately, they couldn't quite overcome this Pottsville offense. While the O-line gave awesome protection all game to keep our offense tallying up the points, our defense could not shut down their powerful running game. It seemed as though they could pull off ten yard draw plays at will. It was very frustrating to watch. I could only imagine how it felt for the defense out there on the field. But it was historical as it was the FIRST time in West Scranton history that a team from WS made the State Playoffs. And I am very proud of my son, Justin, for being a HUGE part of that. It was heartbreaking to watch him sob uncontrolabley after the game, but I could never have been more proud of him. From everything I saw, he never made one mistake and he dominated his position. I seen him just EAT the defensive line as they tried unsuccessfully to get to our quarterback. Not one kid made it past Justin. He had the game of his life. Now it's time to start the decision making process on which college to go to. He's got a few really good leads and should continue his career in football at a fine college. Hats off to you Justin. I have never been prouder in my life.

Necromancer
Okay, let me brag about the oldest again for a bit. Kenny Jr. is the fullback for The Fordham Rams. He had to overcome some pretty tough stuff this year. Injuries, a season being ineligible for over the counter supplements, and a new coach that didn't have much use for fullbacks in his offense. He started out the season in the FOUR deep slot. By the opening game though, he was back to 2 on the depth chart. By mid-season he was alternating with the other fullback and by the final three games of the season he was the STARTER!!! Fordham didn't have a great season, but Kenny put himself in the driver's seat for next season. Here's a nice shot of him getting ready for some action. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m244/necroTRF/kennyrushingforfordham3B.jpg These two are after a pitch. http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m244/necroTRF/kennyrushingforfordhamb.jpghttp://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m244/necroTRF/kennyrushingforfordham2B.jpg And this one is the defender finally knocking him down. Perseverance. Good for him. This will help him later in life. He's always been tough. I have been around sports all my life and not just cuz he's my son, but I really never seen a kid as dedicated as him in the game situation. I often thought he could put more into his training and off season dedication, but when it's GAME time... there's no one you'd want on your team more than him. He defines the term SCRAPPER. He'll do whatever it takes to win in every sport. I can't say enough about that aspect of his athleticism. The only thing about his college career that blew was the year of ineligibility. Had he played last year, he would have started all season, no doubt. I'm hoping he can have a stellar year next year and get an invite to a combine. There were pro scouts that noticed him when he was a freshman, so that's a possibility.
