andrew28
We've all got one (or several): A band (or bands) that you know really aren't that good, but you like them anyway. You know, the kind of band that's buried deep in the annals of your iPod (until a friend starts scrolling through your playlists and shouts "WHY THE HELL DO YOU HAVE DOKKEN ON YOUR IPOD?"). Mine would mostly be 80's metal (or at least a few songs from 80's metal bands). Def Leppard, TNT, Tesla a Dokken song or two. On the other hand, I could sing along all day to any song by the Carpenters, as well as "Come and Get Your Love" by Redbone. I'm done now. Your turn(s). Pags
Hey dude - welcome to TRF. Sorry, but there is an identical guilty pleasure band thread in the Music Of The Spheres forum that is dedicated to music outside of what is Rush. Check that one out, and by the way... EVERY band and song you mentioned above I have on my MP3 player, including The Carpenters and Redbone. They're awesome!! 1001 and myself are both one hit wonders from the 70's fanatics. haha WOW, I did a search in the forum for you, and actually found FOUR. http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...ndpost&p=224644 http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...ndpost&p=303640 http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...indpost&p=17091 http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?show...ndpost&p=537251
circumstantial tree
I tend to like several one hit wonder kinds of songs, particularly 70's and 80's. Example, I heard this on radio the other day and enjoyed it: "lewy, lewy, lewy, leweeee, lewy, lewy, lewy, lewahhhh......"

PuppetKing2112
I don't know if I have any guilty pleasures. Even when some stupid pop or rap song comes out that I like, I don't turn it into a guilty-pleasure thing, I just like the song. I'm not ashamed of anything I listen to. Kudzu
See, since I firmly believe that REO Speedwagon is painfully underappreciated, it doesn't count. The Carpenters do, though.

Boy bands are generally created by a management team who pretty much own them in exchange for getting them airplay and TV appearances etc. Def Leppard were a proper band who formed on their own and did gigs and got exposure that way, the old fashioned way. I was just listening to a mix of Dokken and everything they made before that album (Back for the Attack) sounds like it was recorded on a 4 track in someone's garage. I mean the "Just Got Lucky" and "Breaking the Chains" are solid songs (in metal terms, anyway) but the sound is so - blah.
