I really need to start purchasing her back catalog.

Somehow, "Babooshka" looks familiar. Maybe she had a video on MTV back in the early 80's?

Start with Hounds of Love.

It is perhaps unfare to send anyone to that album straight off, but it is the one that clinches or breaks the bond.

It is her masterpiece.

It is her masterpiece.

I remember that album but have only heard two songs from it. "Running Up that Hill (A Deal with God)" and "Cloudbuster". I love both of these but never thought of buying the CD.

I may just have to though.

Anyone here have a favorite Kate tune?

I only have "Aerial" right now, but I can only narrow it down to Disk 2, the one about the birds.

Just one?

Like, if I was forced onto an island, and I was only allowed to pick one song and never get to hear any others?

In that case, I would probably go with "Hello Earth" off of HoL, but I'd be second-guessing that the moment i said it.

Some Interesting vids from over on YouTube

Kate rehearsing the "Sat in your Lap" video from a 1982 BBC show.

And here is the most insane piece of Kate footage you will ever see.

It is from a 1979 appearance on Japanese a TV. The video quality is awful, but you soon learn that this does not matter.

It is a production of Rolling the Ball, played in the cheesiest "TV Variety Show" style (bad horn section et al), and Kate appears on stage in gigantic red bell-bottoms with a chorus of male dancers...and performs the most jaw-dropping, insenely over-the-top number you've ever seen her do.

The video Kate does not want you to see

I'm a fan of her and her music. She's very talented and has a beautiful voice.

But for some reason, me and my friends have always called her Kate's Bush.

Puppetking, I am convinced that EMI is about as good a marketer as Anthem.

You and I both know what that means.

Nah...at least Feedback debuted at like #19 in the US. Aerial was what, 48?

Nah, I haven't gotten anything else yet by Kate. I will eventually though.

Here's a pic of Kate Bush I found by accident.

Well, yes. But Aerial has sold a million copies. It hit 300,000 copies in a week.

VT is where now?

This isn't meant as a pissing contest. It is just an illustration of how niche acts that get little support try to survive in the current music industry.

I bought Aerial the week it was released...before that, while Kate was away I found solace with Tori Amos, oft compared to Kate. I think they're both brilliant. smile.gif

Tori Amos I'm a fan of as well. Little Earthquakes is probably my favorite, but I like all her stuff really, particularly From the Choirgirl Hotel and Under the Pink.
