My_Shrimp_Cot
If you have a particular piece of gear that you especially like or find useful, post it here! I'll start, I am really impressed with my Vox AD30VT modeling amp. http://www.music-town.de/onlineshop/bilder/egitarre/voxad30vt.jpg For the money it sounds great. None of the amp models or effects are cheesey. That being said this is a chinese made, PC board, mostly solid state amp. I don't think I would gig with it. But for around the house, it sounds awesome! I have some sound clips if anyone wants to hear some.
GeddyRulz
The Zoom 506 Multi-effects Bass Pedal. A cheap bass pedal capable of producing several effects - flange, delay, fuzz, compression, echo, reverb, etc. Okay, so the effects themselves aren't as good as having a high-quality separate pedal for each effect, but this is a good way of getting dozens of sounds for low buckage. And it also works as an electronic tuner! Recommended for all electric bass players. Can be bought for as low as $60. http://www.samsontech.com/images/productimages/506.gif (Photo shows the discontinued version of the pedal, which I own. There is now a Zoom 506 II, updated version of the pedal, which is still available.) Edited February 28, 2006 by GeddyRulz
tepes22b
This: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v242/tepes22b/Village%20Idiot/idiot5.jpg My personal favorite piece of gear, a great bass for only $700. I realize I'm pretty much preaching to the converted here, though.
launchpad67a
The title of this thread fooled me. I have a Zildjian endorsement!
CygnusX-1Bk2
I was disappointed with the Zildjian cymbals at the NAMM show this year. Finding a good Zildjian is very difficult these days. They used to be warm and textural now they sound harsh and brittle. Sad. They used to be so great. Cymbals I heard I liked were Meinl, especially their Byzance line. Also Istanbul AGOP had a nice variety of jazzy rides, excellent splashes and other effects cymbals. Sabian has a new Dave Weckl line called Legacy which are quite dark, much like a good older Zildjian K. There were several other Turkish cymbal makers that had some really nice pieces. As for good gear there are many good manufacturers these days. Technology for instrument production has taken off in the recent past.
Jack Aubrey
I've been using a pair of Pro-Mark Lightning Rods lately. They're fun. http://www.yoursound.lv/foto/2038LI_Rods.jpg
sullysue
My kid got a hold of the Musician's Friend Catalog and wants the Sabian 12" splash. This poor kid. One day, my boy. One day soon.
