I remember Mr. Binary mentioning something on another board about component hookups (and I'm still waiting for him to elaborate on it [no pressure]) and thought that the whole home theater realm was ripe for discussion. So go ahead and brag about your setup, ask questions, debate the merits of progressive scan dvd players, anamorphic widescreen vs. full-frame, or anything your heart desires. I'll start. Forgive me for boasting, but guys love to do it. My setup: 42" Gateway plasma HD-capable monitor. Pioneer progressive scan dvd player DTS and Dolby capable. JVC RX-6020V Receiver DTS/Dolby. Bose Acoustimass AM-500 speakers (My mother-in-law owed us money, she won the speakers in a raffle, we made a deal.) Comcast digital cable with (so far) 8 channels in HD. Next? Come on, don't be shy!

1-0-0-1-0-0-1 Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Let's play.... I'm still lacking in the display area.... 27" Sony TV (a nice TV, but obviously small!) A Sony 110wx5 digital surround receiver A Toshiba DVD player w/ DTS (six years old!) A full set of Athena speakers - 2 AS-F1 towers; a AS-C1 center channel; 2 AS-R1 dipole surrounds. And the cornerstone of this setup...a 250w Velodyne subwoofer with a 15" driver. It shakes the baseboards in the dining room and the shutters outside....all while the sub's volume is set at 3.... I'm still waiting for all these companies to settle on a universal digital connection for these digital TVs and DVD players before I start shelling out the big bucks.
RushRevisited Posted August 25, 2004 Posted August 25, 2004 Well my big dilema on this is I have the good video upstairs and audio downstairs. Our family room has the 53" Hi-Def Projection (Panasonic Cinema) with prgressivescan DVD, but the way our familyroom is oriented, no way to do surround well (pic 1). Downstairs in finished basement I have surround sound, nothing major, but sounds kick ass down here and a basic non-hidef 31"(?) TV...
