plodder
I've read all the books and i still don't see it. I'm not at all religious so maybe I'm just seeing it as a story of good v bad. Back on topic, go see the film. It's fantastic.

Kirsten
Okay, now I HAVE seen the movie, haha. I loved it. So much. It actually had a plotline *gasp* which was easy to follow, even if you haven't read the books. Unlike the Harry Potter movies, which, even after reading the books... heh. They're a bit DISJOINTED. But, anyway. I was choked up the entire movie, for some odd reason. That, likely, has more to do with having a uterus than the movie, but... I digress. So good. See it. EVERYONE. MUST. SEE. THIS. MOVIE. *falls over*

Arndrake
I took my daughter to see it last Friday. She loved it. I gave her the entire set of books for Christmas also. I think she will always love and never forget that gift.
rushgoober
i thought this movie was very good. i didn't LOVE it, but i liked it very much. my wife loved it. while it was VERY well done, i still kind of felt like it was somewhat of a kids story and somewhat simplistic. i guess i'm pretty spoiled by LOTR, as this story couldn't really hold a candle to it. i was more interested in all of the cool creatures and effects after awhile then i was in the outcome. the harry potter books are kids stories, but ones i feel adults (like myself) could related to a lot more effectively than narnia. don't get me wrong - very well done and i enjoyed it alot, but it doesn't hold a candle to the harry potter stories or the LOTR books or movies... frouse
Whooo ho ho!! What doesn't hold a candle to Harry Potter??!! Narnia??!! It's just the opposite! Narnia is one of the best-made movies I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot! Any Harry Potter story is rubbish for naughty little kids Of course that's my opinion! I simply find the stories not very interesting as against Lord of the Rings or Narnia, for example. Maybe "rubbish", that is the word I used in my previous post, was kind of overreaction on my part, so sorry for that. It's just a matter of personal preference. frouse
It's because I found the story a bit shallow and with little moral. I wonder what good it actually conveys. Well, perhaps I should watch it once again...
plodder
I think frouse is trying to say if you've been good you're allowed to watch LOTR or Narnia as a reward, if you're naughty you can watch Potter as punishment.
frouse
No, I'd rather you didn't take the word "naughty" so literally. Hey, READ my previous post with some attention!

Hatchetaxe&saw
My wife and I saw it over Christmas, really enjoyed it. Wonderfully old fashioned. The kids were great, in an Ealing 1950's kind of way. An antidote to the smart-arsery of the Harry Potter films.
