I know there’s a big debate about what is said at the beginning of Alien Shore but can anyone throw light on what is said at about 3.45? This is in the solo section and sounds like someone talking quietly - I’ve struggled to make out what’s being said (if anything for years)

I heard it first on high quality headphones and now I can’t not hear it.
Am I the first to notice this? - I’ve looked everywhere and I’ve never read anything about it anywhere!

You're definitely not the only one to notice it. I've heard it for years...no clue as to what's being said. It's a great song.

I think you start hearing it at 3:40, and it's in and out for the rest of the solo. I've always wondered if they were repeating lyrics, like maybe "Reaching for the alien shore,"  etc. but I never really knew for sure.

Yes I think you might be right. I find this track really interesting after the umpteenth time of re-visiting it as a mere favourite.

Its whole format and style seems to be unlike Rush in some ways.

I think It’s fair to say most recent Rush acolytes fail to see how experimental they were.

That's very weird.  I wonder if it's a clip from a movie or something...

This was my thought, too (I didn't bother to check if there is a definitive answer as to what is said at the top of the song, either)...but it does sound remarkably like Geddy doing a voice to me.

I used studio.gaudiolab.io, and extracted the vocal sounds from the guitar solo,

happy "solinggomph" to you (whatever that means!) LOL

Sounds like they were goofing off to me. It's what they do.
