I'm ashamed to say I read the book (bought it in a hospital) never saw the movie.

Was it a book? It was on TV over here about a month ago. I saw it recently before that, about a year ago, pretty cool film.

I'm not sure what came first. Back in the 70's and 80's they would sometimes do the movie and then write the book. It was a paperback edition but it seemed pretty long.

I think the film came first and the author is almost an action hero, Kent Rembo.

With that hat, definitely.    :bolt:

The actor playing Holmes was also in Urban Legend, which I watched the other night, a film made 33 years later.

His name is John Neville and he's actually a good Holmes, although he doesn't get mentioned much when the best Holmes actors are listed. And in this film it's Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper which is extra cool.

Well, I'm glad it doesn't involve any TNG.
