Pierzynski is sticking around with Chisox for 3 years... I think AJ deserves a lot of the credit for the Sox' performance this past season. He did a great job handling the pitching staff. Arndrake
QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Dec 19 2005, 10:16 PM) QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Dec 17 2005, 12:44 AM) Washburn very close to signing 4 year deal with Mariners http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/al...-washburn_x.htm It's now a done deal.... http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Ai42...ov=ap&type=lgns This is definitely good news for the Mariners, provided Washburn can stay healthy. I read a report on the Mariners site regarding Washburn's performance on the road and at Safeco these past couple of years. I think he will fit right in as a fly ball pitcher with Ichiro and Reed in the outfield. This season hopefully will be a big improvement over the last two. anagramking
Looks like San Diego and the Rangers are going to make a multi-player swap. The Rangers get Eaton and Otsuka, and the Padres get Chris Young (a young starting pitcher who had a great stretch in the middle of last season), Sledge (who came from the Nationals in that earlier trade). There are other prospects included in the deal. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...e2005&fext=.jsp

anagramking
QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Dec 21 2005, 12:00 AM) Damon's a Yankee http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Aqi1...ov=ap&type=lgns edited to say deal is not finalized but in all probability it's a done deal Wow, this is nuts. I didn't think he'd end up a Yankee, but what do I know? The Yankees had to do something. They've been so quiet this winter. They now have a leadoff hitter. This makes Torre's job of filling out the lineup card much easier. Jeter bats second, where he belongs. This batting order is going to be pretty intimidating. Lots of 10-7 games next year for the Yankees.
1-0-0-1-0-0-1
QUOTE (anagramking @ Dec 21 2005, 12:11 AM) QUOTE (Test4VitalSigns @ Dec 21 2005, 12:00 AM) Damon's a Yankee http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=Aqi1...ov=ap&type=lgns edited to say deal is not finalized but in all probability it's a done deal Wow, this is nuts. Lots of 10-7 games next year for the Yankees. I didn't expect this one to happen. Boras seemed pretty set on getting Damon a 7-year deal (Damon is 32 -- not a wise move for any team, IMO), so for the Yanks to get him for 4 years and $52 mil is very good for them. This makes Bernie Williams a bench player/part-time DH, which is fine because he's clearly in the twilight of his career, and can't play center anymore. Now if Jeter would only agree to move to second base...

Now if Jeter would only agree to move to second base... Well, we all know that Boras shoots for the moon in his initial demands. As for Jeter moving over, I think Cano earned a spot in the lineup in the second half of the season. He saved my fantasy lineup last season when Brian Roberts went down with his season ending injury. It's hard to imagine Bernie not being in the mix everyday. He's been such a big part of their past successes, and he really did prove himself to be a money player. I'm sure his number will be retired when he hangs it up. It's too bad that his knees went out on him. I thought he had an outside chance at 3,000 hits a few years ago. anagramking
The Yanks signed Octavio Dotel, or as Chris Berman would say if he were a Rush fan, Octavio Show Dotel. I traded Dotel for Matt Clement straight up with Indy in our TRF league at the beginning of the season, and I have to say it was a trade that worked for neither side. Dotel won't be ready right away because he had Tommy John surgery last season. He'll be another setup man when he's healthy.

The first guy to homer off Tomko had a crisp $100 bill waiting in his locker.
