Principled Man
A painting of Christ by the Renaissance master Leonardo da Vinci sold for a record $450 million (380 million euros) at auction on Wednesday, obliterating previous records for artworks sold at auction or privately. The painting, called "Salvator Mundi," Italian for "Savior of the World," is one of fewer than 20 paintings by Leonardo known to exist and the only one in private hands. It was sold by Christie's auction house, which didn't immediately identify the buyer. http://media.rtl.fr/cache/TcmJJ09BV6XJiTYhNjhIcA/880v587-0/online/image/2017/1116/7790983151_salvator-mundi-de-leonard-de-vinci-a-ete-adjuge-450-3-millions-de-dollars.jpg The highest price ever paid for a work of art at auction had been $179.4 million (152 million euros), for Picasso's "Women of Algiers (Version O)" in May 2015, also at Christie's in New York. https://www.yahoo.com/news/rare-painting-leonardo-da-vinci-auctioned-york-051045114.html

Principled Man
Interesting article that brings up doubt as to whether or not Da Vinci actually painted this piece http://www.thisisins...tal-orb-2017-10 I could never be an art dealer, expecially when it comes to ancient works such as this one. I think less than half of Da Vinci's works are "universally accepted" as being authentic. Some are "generally accepted", with others being disputed. That's too risky a business for me!
