Actually, she's 39 and I was talking to her about groups I love that were born from Ireland. Minus UPOO I mean U2 of course, however everything up to "Joshua Tree" is ok with me!!

 

So she was talking about the Drop Kick Murphys. I liked them. I mentioned Flogging Molly. She knew them.

 

But then I mentioned how much I love....

I told her how much I want to go to Ireland and go to that pub that has the Rory Gallagher bronze guitar statue in the window.

I told her how much I want to go to Belfast and see where Gary Moore lived and also where the Titanic was built.

 

She instantly sent me a picture of a bar in Ireland called "The Black Rose." I was blow away!!

 

She is 11 years younger than me and loves Irish ROCK AND ROLL!!!

I will one day go to Ireland and place a Black Rose by Phil's statue.

 

A very serious goal of mine.

Pat! Her great grandparents are from there. They migrated to New York City. He is a famous bagpiper and opened up a bar called "The Pleasant Hour." That's all I know.

She's 75% Irish.

She lived in Ireland with her parents for a month when she was a kid!

 

All I know is that her bloodline is southern Ireland. When she was there for a month they could not go north because of all the violence and stuff going on then.

 

I hope that shit has cooled off Pat. I want to get my ass up to Belfast!!!!!!

 

This girl loves baseball and can drink beer! She's the first girl I've met that I don't have to babysit thanks to too much booze. She has fire in her soul. Makes me lose control.

Earl, I was in Ireland for my 2nd time last March, and I found the Phil Lynott statue in Dublin! I went to a local music shop to buy some guitar picks and left him one in the strings of his bass. I was so excited to have found him!

 

When you go to Dublin, you should also check out the Irish museum of rock and roll. They’ve got cool stuff from everybody from Van The Man Morrison to The Commitments and beyond, and a little studio where you can jam with other tour goers (okay that parts a bit corny, but I learned about a lot of new Irish music).

I am sooooooo sad. I was seriously going to book a trip to Ireland this year. Was going to take Zoe, my awesome daughter with me.

I want to go to Iceland for a few nights.

Then fly to Ireland.

I want to go to Belfast for the Titanic. Gary Moore.

As an American boy, I was always blown away how my local Bay Area Band Y&T really failed to make it big. Crushes me.

But on the World Stage, I will never understand how THIN LIZZY was never huge.

Regardless of the revolving door of amazing Legendary musicians, Lizzy was never BIG.

 

True Confession:

 

When I was a kid buying every Lizzy record I could buy.

I rarely looked at the year of production.

I would just race home on my bike and put the record on my stereo.

Well in my young mind I always thought that "Thunder And Lightning" was before "Chinatown" and "Renegade" because I always thought "Thunder And Lightning" was a lot heavier!!

That's how I thought even back then.

 

But WOW! The fact that Phil hired the young Sykes out of Tygers of Pan Tang, another band I LOVE LOVE LOVE was impressive.

 

For me it's like David Bowie having the balls to hire Stevie Ray Vaughan to play lead on the "Let's Dance" record. Pure genius.

 

Phil and David. Musical Magicians.

 

So wonderful.
