  1. I saw him in Fremantle in 2008 and as part f G3 in Rio in 2007, with John Petrucci and Eric Johnson. AWESOME!!!!
  2. I'm planning a trip to Istambul next year...it would be absolutely AWESOME to catch them live in Europe while I'm there!!!! Whether they make it to Europe or not, the Time Machine Tour is likely to be one of their most extensive ones of recent times. I dare say it'll be their longest since Roll the Bones, if you consider concerts of 2010 and 2011.
  3. This is one of the bands I've always read and heard about, but never checked out. How good are they???
  4. QUOTE (irish_matt @ Aug 10 2010, 09:08 AM) The Chilean show was announced locally for the 17th a few months ago, though Rush have not officially announced it. That date was in place well before the Brazilian shows. That's right...the first time I read about Rush touring SA again was in a Chilean website / newspaper.
  5. QUOTE (Rush Cocky @ Aug 10 2010, 08:23 AM) The southern part of South America seems to be a growing worldwide market for Rush! Not that this is a bad thing at all. I think it's getting a bit like that for all rock bands. Who wouldn't want to play in front of a raucous crowd of 20,000+ fans? Iron Maiden discovered this in 1985 and played South America on almost every tour since then. Megadeth, The Police and a bunch of other bands have live albums/DVDs recorded in Argentina, Dream Theater has one in Chile, Deep Purple played here on every tour since 1991...it's about time Rush caught up with it!!! Unfortunately, South America is still a place where 5% of the people control 95% of the wealth, but that shouldn't stop bands from coming over.
  6. QUOTE (Apollo @ Aug 8 2010, 08:17 PM) SLC Video I have the rest of the show (except for 2 songs) but most of it is in SD instead of HD due to memory constraints but please let me know what you think and if I should upload more. And if you know how to rescue fileparts, please send me a PM as I have a 2 Gig filepart that includes Caravan and the Drum Solo that I can't figure out how to salvage. Oh no...you mentioned a drum solo!!! Now I know there's a drum solo in the setlist...you just RUINED it for me!!!
  7. Hola, Raton. I'm sure they wouldn't waste a trip to South America and not go to Chile. I just wish I had some days of vacation accrued so that I could follow them in Buenos Aires and Santiago...I've been planning to go to Chile for a long time now, and this would be the perfect opportunity!! It would be nice also for our fellow North Americans in the forum to visit Santiago and the surroundings, all the wineries, ski stations, Easter Island etc etc...
  8. subdivisions to me, regardless of where it's paced in the setlist, is an untouchable song. It should be on each and every concert they play, as it speaks directly to the majority of Rush fans. It's right up there with Tom Sawyer and TSOR as their most important songs.
  9. QUOTE (GreedHasNoConscience @ Aug 6 2010, 09:20 AM) QUOTE (J2112YYZ @ Aug 3 2010, 07:56 PM) I think they're just doing this tour now for fun. No, their doing this tour for money Yeeees...I dunno about Alex and Geddy, but Neil has been quite clear in his books about how much he hates touring, it's just something he HAS to do.
  10. QUOTE (Queen of Megadon @ Aug 6 2010, 09:03 AM) ANAGRAM FOR MONGO I have always put PRESTO up in my top 2. But truly, haven't listened to it much lately. I have it practically on a loop over the past week, and, shame on me...I really HEARD the anagrams this time around. Sorry to disappoint, dude, but there's hardly ANY anagram in the whole song... Chemistry is one of the best songs in Signals for me, Alex's solo kicks serious a$$. And a song I absolutely hated when I started getting into Rush was Between the Wheels. I love it now!!!
  11. QUOTE (gotbass1228 @ Aug 5 2010, 01:09 AM) QUOTE (GeddysMullet @ Jul 28 2010, 10:38 AM) QUOTE (Der Trommler2112 @ Jul 27 2010, 06:45 PM) i think what should of done, is tape every show and then do a song from almost every venue, that would of been cool. I just love the wildly unrealistic ideas that fans come up with! Dream Theater did it. Chaos in Motion. Yes they did!!! I love to see full concerts on DVD, but this idea is quite good too. Can you guys imagine a Rush DVD with each song in a different venue, possibly with songs in South America and Europe as well, and scenes from the guys going from country to country, Neil with a camerea built into his helmet etc etc???
  12. Forgive my ignorance, but who's John Arrowsmith?
  13. I may be wrong, but I think they haven't officially announced it because there's no exact date for the release of "ClockAnge" yet. They haven't even finished composing the whole thing, from what I read in their interviews.
  14. They kinda lost me after Yield. I did buy Binaural and Riot Act, but hated both, and didn't get their self titled album. But somehow I decided to give them a shot and bought Backspacer. What a pleasant surprise!!! I still listed to it back and forth every second week, and saw them in Perth, Australia last year. Vedder gives it all onstage, and it's impressive how much he gest involved with the local scene. During the show he mentioned several Perth bands that he liked, and I checked them out later. Spot on!!! Lots of good ones, including the infamously-titled The gays.
  15. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Aug 2 2010, 08:19 AM) IMHO I think they will keep the following songs! Caravan BU2B Tom Sawyer The Spirit of Radio Freewill Limelight 2112 Far Cry Anything Else is pure Speculation. Ditto. And as for Natural Science, they've been playing the shortened version (without Alex's a$$-kickin', finger tapping second solo) for years now...I bet they're keeping Jacob's Ladder for next year's tour.
  16. It should be called "Time...blinds my eyes...with light...BOOM!!!"
  17. QUOTE (shaun3701 @ Jul 29 2010, 02:10 PM) His solos used to be awe-inspiring. Now they're kind of neat to watch, but you get bored after like 2 mins. I hate to admit it, but I kinda feel the same way. After Rush in Rio, I slowly started to lose interest in his solos. It's great to acknowledge how good a drummer Neil is, but why not replacing it with an incredibly challenging and busy song drum-wise, such as Red Lenses, Xanadu, Grand Designs etc etc? Whichever way, it's just a suggestion. If Neil decides he should play a 4 x 4 beat for 10 minutes, I'd be happy with it.
  18. QUOTE (Phantom @ Jul 28 2010, 06:21 PM) I suspect the Rio and Sao Paulo fans will go absolutely nuts. I'd love to see a DVD of the Sao Paulo show.... 60,000 - 80,000 plus fans? You're right, as soon as TSOR starts just as it was when Tom Sawyer started in 2002, we'll go absolutely crazy!!! It's a shame that the sound in both places where they'll play is far from perfect. The Rio show in particular worries me a bit. I saw Roger Waters and Eric Clapton at the same venue years ago (not together, of course!!), and the sound sucked...let's see what happens this time. The Rio show will be ata different location this time, exactly where they have the carnival parade every year. Maybe it's time Big Al pulls out his bikinis to wear onstage?
