    The Garden

Impossible - it's not about internet dating, dogs, or Law & Order.
  2. QUOTE (NYM86 @ Jun 19 2012, 08:41 PM) For the most part they make 5, 6, 7 minute songs go by pretty quick. That's a testament to their songwriting ability I'd say. Yeah, I went running today for the first time in about a month after messing my knee up so I wasn't expecting to do more than a mile or so. I put the album on and the songs go by so fast that the next thing I know, Carnies is over and I'm thinking ".... maybe I should stop. Halo Effect is a good cool-down song." I am going to be hurting in the morning!
  3. It's straight from Candide. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Candide if not rejecting optimism outright, advocating an enigmatic precept, "we must cultivate our garden", in lieu of the Leibnizian mantra of Pangloss, "all is for the best in the best of all possible worlds".
  4. Funny, I thought you could marry just about anybody down in Georgia! (I kid, I kid)
  5. That, and she needs to grow 2 more fingers for the other symbols.
  6. My only question is why is she still your girlfriend and not your wife?
  7. QUOTE (mazyyz @ Jun 19 2012, 04:36 PM) There are always some throw away songs, and this has only a few. It's the great albums that have none. That is why I'm sickened with the comparison of this album to 2112 and MP. Honestly I think The Twilight Zone and Tears are throwaway songs... none on Moving Pictures though!
  8. Yeah this album flies by. I listened to it at work today and didn't even skip Wish Them Well this time and it was over before I knew it!
  9. that's what she said. (wait, that makes no sense)
  10. Clockwork Angels is DEFINITELY better than: Hitler Mussolini Test For Echo Pol Pot Fidel Castro Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Clockwork Angels is definitely NOT better than: Martin Luther King Jr. Cute kittens Obama Pizza Hemispheres (not the album, the bisections of planet Earth) Sex Cute kittens (so good they have to be listed twice) Victory Golden Monkey beer
  11. Usher's a great singer and Rush isn't going to beat him, I love them but be realistic! I don't own any of his albums but Usher's cool.
  12. #1 - headphones #2 - the vinyl copy on my stereo #3 - + any version of the album on any sound system
  13. This album really doesn't sound like Snakes & Arrows at all, and only sounds like Vapor Trails in a few points. And to answer your question: GUP, Power WIndows, Hold Your Fire. Or Fly By Night, Caress of Steel, 2112.
  14. QUOTE (Xanadoood @ Jun 18 2012, 03:56 PM) QUOTE (Jomboni @ Jun 18 2012, 03:53 PM) QUOTE (GeddyLeeFender @ Jun 18 2012, 03:48 PM) QUOTE (trenken @ Jun 18 2012, 01:06 PM) The Nickelback comment he made was very appropriate. He's just talking about the SOUND, not the songs themselves, and this does sound like a Nickelback album with the safe production style Nick has and heavy guitars. This doesnt sound like some off the wall creative production. It sounds like a regular rock album. I cant turn on a rock station without hearing that damn band and they're one of the most successful rock bands out there these days so it's fair to compare to them when talking about the sound of an album. God damnt your an idiot. Nickelback?! Your not a Rush fan dude...AT ALL Uhh did you read the review? Neither the reviewer, or anybody in this thread said Rush sounds like Nickeback. He said the PRODUCTION & SOUND of the album is similar to Nickelback, and he's right. He could have also said Foo Fighters, or just about any other big name rock band these days. This is what rock album sound like nowadays. But that's the issue. He could have said Foo Fighters, a respected mainstream band, but he chose Nickleback. But it's not an issue. He's talking about how a Nickelback album SOUNDS, and he's right. And it's actually a pretty apt comparison considering both bands are on teh same label (and actually - the same guy at roadrunner is responsible for signing both bands believe it or not, I don't know him but he was in a metal band on Columbia with my fiance's uncle back in the late '80s)

  16. Another fun Rush/Nickelback fact: the A&R guy from Roadrunner who signed Nickelback is the same guy who signed Rush. He played in a metal band with my fiance's uncle that put an album out on Columbia in the late '80s / early '90s.
  17. Apparently he's saying "I've got blisters on me fingers!" which is a weird thing to say before the song even starts, but it's the truth!
  18. I honestly could take or leave the drum solo at this point, unless he changes it up big time. I could see them not playing Closer to the Heart (last tour was the first time they've played it in a while). I wouldn't be surprised if Freewill gets dropped, you can almost see the look of dread in Geddy's face when he's about to go for the really high part. Plus they didn't play it on R30 so it's obviously a song that they feel they don't have to play every tour. Limelight, Tom Sawyer & Spirit aren't going anywhere!
  19. QUOTE (hughes&kettner @ Jun 18 2012, 12:24 PM) Sounds like we may get 2112 like from T4E....I could handle that. Don't want this. Even downtuned Geddy could barely sing it on the Time Machine tour.
  20. it's a recipe for blueberry cobbler
  21. QUOTE (Workaholic Man @ Jun 18 2012, 10:23 AM) QUOTE (The Owl @ Jun 18 2012, 09:06 AM) It's all semantics... but the way I see it: 20th studio album= 20Th full legnth LP= I agree with this. The word "album" simply means a collection of songs, photos, videos, etc. There is no minimum or maximum number of items in an album, just like there is no requirement that the songs be original. end of thread!

    1 week out

I dunno, at least once a day all the way through (except Wish them Well) and then usually I'll listen to a song here or there at home. I had to force myself to not listen to it on my way in to work this morning so I don't burn myself out on it.
  23. Hey, Garden Road & Fancy Dancer were recorded in a studio right? I guess this is album #21
