  1. I absolutely agree. In fact - (this is going to be blasphemy) I think the Garden is a great song, but if the album finished after Headlong Flight I think the album as a whole would have been better.
  2. QUOTE (LedRush @ Aug 28 2012, 12:34 PM) There are many reasons I want to know the setlist beforehand, and one major one is so I can let my wife and friends know some of the songs so they can listen to them before the show. For me (and I think for most people), I can enjoy a show much more if I know the songs being played. Yeah, I did this so my girlfriend would at least have an idea of some of the songs aside from Tom Sawyer, etc., so she wouldn't be bored out of her mind for 3 hours. PLUS if they happen to throw in a song or 2 you don't care for you can plan your beer runs around it.
  3. QUOTE (DistantEarlyRushFan @ Aug 23 2012, 10:26 AM) S&A is arguably the best Rush album, lyrically. See, I think this is probably their absolute bottom album in terms of lyrics. Not for the subject matter (honestly Neil can write as many "faith-bashing" songs as he wants), I just really think his lyrics were clunky and poorly delivered on this album. I like the music a lot, because it's a real 180 for the band, it doesn't really sound like anything else in their catalog. But I just get so embarassed by the lyrics that it ruins the album for me :/
  4. I think they've said that they don't see themselves announcing their retirement ahead of time, they'll just decide one day to throw in the towel. Maybe they would set up a farewell tour at that point, but as far as albums go I don't think they're even thinking about whether they're going to make another one or not until they finish this tour. (Personally I do think this will be the last album)
  5. QUOTE (Amy Farrah Fowler @ Aug 20 2012, 07:50 PM) Some of you think entirely too much. The man is a drumming GOD. You really think he would mess up? His solos NOW differ from night to night because that's just how he is. I love how some of you think that being a little more improvisational is going to trip him up and cause a "train wreck". Sheesh. Everybody messes up live once in a while! Last time I saw them Neil completely lost his place in La Villa (listen to the July 2010 Time Machine recording from Camden NJ.) It happens, no big deal! That said, Clockwork Angels or Headlong Flight are probably the most likely "train wreck" candidates.
  6. What was that? I can't hear your posting over your stereo. Turn it down!!!
  7. Did you know it's impossible to kill yourself by holding your breath? Once you pass out reflex kicks in and you start breathing on your own anyway, like you're asleep. (unless you're reallllllly stupid!)
  8. I agree with rushgoober.
  9. I agree with him 100% in this interview, especially the part where he goes into religious beliefs conflicting with political affiliations. I think if we say too much more this thread is going to get moved!

  11. I should have looked at this forum a long time ago. Another one of my favorite bands. I have a playlist on my phone that's a mix of Godspeed, Mogwai, Tangerine Dream, Explosions IN the Sky, and other stuff along those lines, and it's good for everything from background music at work, to video games to Did anybody get to see them on their reunion tour last year? They were really good although I was a bit bummed they didn't play "Moya" at the Philly date. Has anybody listened to their other band, A Silver Mt. Zion? It's a similar style but heavier overall and it has vocals. The singer is terrible, but in a way similar to Bob Dylan where it fits the music.
  12. Hey neat thread, glad I found this. Zombi is one of my favorite bands and I've seen them live quite a few times. Definitely a cool mix of Goblin, Tangerine Dream, and '80s Rush. Isis is my absolute 2nd favorite band ever right behind Rush. Comets on Fire were pretty good too... I think Avatar is my favorite by them.
  13. I was asked to post this by Tombstone Mountain because he can't copy & paste his phone(scroll down for spoiler): http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d153/avplanners/SteamKimono.jpg
  14. I thought this was another joke post until I looked at that thread... which is also another joke post, but then halfway through there actually is a picture of somebody from the orchestra in a kimono, standing in front of one of Alex's amps. I think it looks cool!
  15. They're not going to play a 20 minute song when they've already said they plan on playing most of the new album.... (and Geddy can barely sing it anymore, even downtuned)
  16. I'm not an audiophile but the vinyl definitely sounds better to my ears, compared to both the early leaked version, and the free mp3 download you get with the vinyl. I haven't heard the actual cd but I'm assuming it's pretty close to the free download. Definitely more "space" on the vinyl version, I guess is the best way to put it.
  17. (plus it's one of the best songs on the album )
  18. It's the second single, so it's basically a given that it's going to be a part of the set.
  19. I just think there's too much singing on Wish Them Well (and too much guitars, bass, and drums too). The rest of the album is a-ok!
  20. I didn't see that! I assumed when it said "Clockwork riff" that it was... a riff from Clockwork Angels.
  21. The opening to Carnies??? All I hear is Working Man
  22. QUOTE (RodrigoAltaf @ Jul 9 2012, 09:03 AM) QUOTE (tel @ Jul 8 2012, 02:14 PM) Yes i think it may be of a heavier bent . but pleeeese no more sawyer, spirit, 2112,limelight etc,etc I say the same, even though I've only seen them live 4 times...I'm ok with keeping Tom Sawyer, it was their biggest hit etc etc, but why do they insist on Limelight,2112, Spirit of Radio etc? If they got rid of at least one of the three, that would seriously help the setlist. Keep dreaming! Those songs aren't going anywhere!
  23. There are like a billion guitar tracks on Vapor Trails and he managed to do those live
  24. You hear anything on MP that sounds like it didnt fit, or anything even close to stock rock with just some boring chord progressions and unappealing vocal melodies slapped on top of it? The Camera Eye is, basically, one song played twice in a row, and they don't even bother to transition half the parts together, they just stop playing, wait for a few seconds, and start playing a new part.
