  3. QUOTE (hermy @ Sep 7 2012, 08:59 AM)QUOTE (bigalfan @ Sep 7 2012, 08:51 AM) QUOTE (hermy @ Sep 6 2012, 11:49 PM) Having beers with John Arrowsmith but he won't give details. That was good. BTW, is there a guy you're more envious of? On top of following Rush (and other bands) around taking pics, he gets to play with explosives AND he's one of those guys that apparently got a crapload of chick-magnet genes in the looks area as well. Damn you, John Arrowsmith! He was in tough shape by the end of the night! OH - and he's got a cool last name to boot! (the only unfortunate: aerosmith the band is pronounced the same way) Along with Lerxst, John might be my other man-crush Rush tour figure.

  5. Gotcha on the song swappin'. They haven't done it in a while, but it's been done. Gotcha.
  6. QUOTE (FOH Lights @ Sep 6 2012, 02:59 PM) QUOTE (farcryoverspilledmilk @ Sep 6 2012, 12:39 PM)The band has made the decision to rehearse the entire record and leave the options open this round to drop 2 and put 2 songs in. The complete record will not be performed on a nightly basis. Hmmm, I think your friend might have misunderstood his source. Changing things up nightly, every other night, or anything other than mid-tour break, would be rather out of character. Don't ya think? But I guess a journalist for the Union Leader Newspaper and a fellow Rush fan of OP's would know... I was thinking the same thing about the 'changing out of songs' from night to night - I haven't seen that from Rush in their current form (can't speak for or remember much past S&A). It seems they are very 'locked in' when it comes to timing on the songs and the visual elements synching. There are tour breaks and they have dropped/added a song (or maybe two) for a different leg of a tour, but every other night or week a dropped/added song or two? Not saying that's not the case, just would be VERY unusual for them.
  7. I for one really hope this is a chain pulling exercise. With the exception of Losing It, the choice of 'extras' bums me out a little if true.
  8. Well, it's 99.875% certainty we'll be hearing Subdivisions ... ...again.... ... whether or not there is anything else played from the album. Can you tell I'm not a big 'Subdivisions' fan? I hope it's not too obvious?
  9. Is that a 'Farewell to Kings' nod I see on the front of that pink shirt? Hmmmm...probably nothing other than a nod, but.... Could there be a little Xanadu in our future? That could work well with an orchestra. Perhaps a little Cygnus X1 (I would pee my pants) - at least in some form? Just speculatin'.
  10. THIS shirt is awesome! longsleeve t MERCHANDISE PAGE
  11. I could hear the first two played repeatedly for three hours and I'd walk away happy! see? >
  12. QUOTE (Na na na @ Sep 6 2012, 09:08 AM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Sep 6 2012, 09:03 AM) They have never skipped South Florida until this tour. Probably next year then... Yeah, Pretty sure another U.S. leg is-a-comin'.
  13. QUOTE (dtpoet @ Sep 5 2012, 10:20 AM) I'm fairly certain they only played JL on the PermWave Tour. It has not been played since. Neil's comment can be taken either way; (a) never going to fit or ( didnt fit this time. I'd like to think it didnt fit that time, but who knows, it may never fit. I'd like to see it close the first set. What an 'incredible' conclusion!
  14. QUOTE (SolitaryPine @ Sep 5 2012, 09:10 AM) Wow, great thread, but I'm surprised nobody has even mentioned Jacobs Ladder as a possible with the string section. It would be amazing to hear THAT with strings. I have some gut feeling that says that we are going to be blown completely away by some of the string arrangements accompanying or, preferably, replacing the keyboards. I think Geddy would absolutely LOVE to be free of all keyboards for at least one tour, right? See you all on Friday. The countdown is ON! Jacob's Ladder has been discussed in other threads. Neil said something along the lines of 'We tried it in rehearsals for S&A, but it just didn't work. Some times you just have leave things like they are' - something along those lines. Kinda gave the unfortunate impression they weren't going to play it live anymore. But - who knows! I would LOVE to hear it on this tour.
  15. Never switched a seat, but I have taken advantage of much better seating (not necessarily closer) when I've found them to be open in the same section. To tell the truth, my favorite seats in any venue are the ones directly under the handicapped seating with a fairly straight on view of the stage. The row is rarely full and you can stand up as often as you'd like without worrying about bothering anyone. Those are the best seats in the house, imo....next to the handicapped seats...which I'm not.
  16. Classics (imo) from Clockwork s Headlong Flight The Garden The Anarchist Caravan Seven Cities of Gold (for the life of me I cannot understand the 'meh' attitude towards this tune by so many) A LOT of GREAT music on this one! Can't wait to hear it live in St. Louis in a few weeks!!
  17. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Sep 4 2012, 04:24 PM) QUOTE (Shredder2 @ Sep 4 2012, 03:38 PM) I wouldn't mind "BU2B2" being played. After all, that's what this tour is for, seeing how they have strings on the road, right? Thats keeping an open mind! And we all know Neil (penner of BU2B2) LOVES an open mind!
  18. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Sep 4 2012, 04:27 PM) QUOTE (BrightAntennae @ Sep 4 2012, 04:25 PM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Sep 4 2012, 01:20 PM) QUOTE (BrightAntennae @ Sep 4 2012, 04:15 PM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Sep 4 2012, 12:49 PM) QUOTE (hermy @ Sep 3 2012, 11:18 PM) We'll break this down one more time for the short bus students. Alex has amps. Geddy has Gump. http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d153/avplanners/ScreenShot2012-09-03at111047PM.png The riser will be where the snares and cases are in this pic. It will elevate them just enough to be seen over Neil. They will come and go quietly behind the other items like Neil does when he comes on stage. Howards keen abilities will allow for darkened transitions....except sunlit outdoor arenas. Isn't this a shot of Neil's drums from behind? Where did "the riser" in question go? Is it one of those new disappearing- reappearing risers I've heard so much about? This image is from the TMT tour. The image with Gump sticking his tongue out is from the CA rehearsals. The two images are not related. A likely story! I'm not buying it. The guy who posted this image (hermy) said this: Please note the second pic I referenced is still the Time Machine tour. It just served as a good reference for my point. Its Ok dude, We're just having some fun. Blowing some Steam. The excitement is building though! 'Blowin' some steam' ....I see what you did there.
  19. The timing seems to be a single note - 1-2-3-4 - 1-2-3-4 - which goes along with BU2B2 perfectly.
  20. QUOTE (ThinkingBig @ Sep 4 2012, 10:36 AM) QUOTE (bigalfan @ Sep 4 2012, 08:46 AM) Looks like they've really amped up the steampunk thing - cool! Thanks for posting! Too many rusty sharp edges. I hope cast and crew have had their shots.
  21. QUOTE (losingit2k @ Sep 4 2012, 09:43 AM) Nice pics! Steampunk Galour! Interesting pic: The sheet music present could be the beginning too Red Sector A! The synthsized bass part (Its the same rhythm and notes). Can any other musician verify that? If so we have another confirmed song from the set list. That'd be cool with me if it were. One of the few from the synth era I actually like.
