If it were not for LVS, Hemispheres wouldn't rank near as high for me. It's my "desert island" song. The live versions from RiR and TSoSL are among my favorite recordings of anything ever. (And, the RiR was before Alex broke up with PRS.)
  6. Too early for me to tell if it cracks my top ten. But, then, I hate ranking albums anyway. What I am most likely to put in the CD player for the whole album differs from what I might choose to favorite songs from. (I think Permanent Waves may be one of the most perfect albums of all time, but if I only got to have one on an island, I'd take Hemispheres just for LVS.) Permanent Waves Hemispheres Signals Rush Moving Pictures A Farewell To Kings Presto 2112 Caress of Steel Grace Under Pressure Power Windows Clockwork Angels - the last four probably get juggled the most. In 5 years, I can see CA potentially moving its way up. CA is definitely my favorite from the last 20 years, which is pretty impressive for how long Rush has been together.

Neil's story closer probably had any number of influences, Biblical and otherwise. Many, many authors - those of prose, poetry and song - have been inspired by the Bible, without it necessarily being religious. I mean, even Iron Butterfly recorded "In A Gadda Da Vida" (In The Garden of Eden).

Ha ha ha ha! What a dick you are. I am happy to be a hack. I play for me, for fun. Odd, all of my guitars feel real when I hold them, strum them, pick them. Real enough for me. Ha ha ha. That's probably one of the douchiest things I've read on this forum, given the context of the thread. This isn't even the musician's thread, it's certainly not a "players only" forum.

    Here's the Radio Edit version: On YouTube I like that Roadrunner had enough sense to do this. It makes it more accessible to the casual rock radio listener. I haven't heard The Wreckers on the radio yet - I was thinking it was supposed to be the next single. I did hear HF (edit version) several times, though.
  12. I sent away for the copy of the autographed CA sampler booklet and got it in the mail yesterday. (as offered here.) It's interesting reading the story fleshed out a little bit, and I will probably pick up a copy when it comes out in paper back. I will give the whole thing a fair review, once I've had a chance to read it all, but I wasn't especially blown away by the sample or anything. I mean, I look forward to reading a version of the whole story, but KJA didn't strike me as a really talented writer. In the first three chapters, there were all sorts of lyrics from Rush songs sprinkled in (not CA songs - like, the Steamliners described with "the breath of a sleeping white dragon" and so on.) Also, it felt like he was trying to cram too many proper nouns into a short space, place names, character names and so forth, that could have been revealed later. It was nice to get the autographed sampler for simply the cost of the postage ($1.30), and I'm not going to judge the novel too harshly on just the sampler.

  18. Unless one of the band members has some extended illness or some other unforeseen issue, they absolutely will do a second leg in 2013. 1. They have stated several times in several ways that to be a band, they must play live. 2. They have shown they are in no hurry to get back into the studio. 3. Touring is too financially lucrative to NOT do it. 4. They missed a number of locations that they usually hit, like: Nashville, TN Jacksonville, FL Ft. Lauderdale, FL Birmingham, AL Raleigh, NC or Greensboro, NC Austin, TX I'm sure there are others around the country, but those in the south came to mind. I don't think they've been to Birmingham in a while. They hit Chicago early on in the current tour schedule, so they could easily do a second show there and in NY, where they always do well. No worries. There will definitely be a second leg for this tour. Expect an announcement about it around the same time Universal / Mercury puts out another compilation album for the Christmas buying season.
