QUOTE (myturn2drive @ Apr 9 2012, 08:35 AM) QUOTE (Gompers @ Apr 9 2012, 09:26 AM) QUOTE (druid13 @ Apr 8 2012, 09:09 PM) I have not heard Headlong Flight yet but I can confirm it sounds much like a fine blend of Bytor, Cygnus X-1, Rivendell, Freewill and Speed of Love..... Having not heard it, you are just making a random guess? I don't think I will be putting my money on your assertion. Not 100% sure, but I think that post is not 100% serious I'm 90% sure you're 85% correct.
  2. QUOTE (ghostworks @ Apr 7 2012, 09:25 PM) QUOTE (ghostworks @ Apr 7 2012, 09:22 PM) QUOTE (Rush-O-Matic @ Apr 7 2012, 08:16 PM) The outer ring are the images used on the Caravan cover. What are the next two rings? All I can make out is the skull and crossbones. let's see sun/moon in the center... the next ring out is four quadrants (I see water, clouds, what looks like a swirling vortex and... a mountain range?) so: Earth/Wind/Fire/Water Ah, the basic elements. What's in the next ring, the one with the skull & crossbones? And, why was the image taken down again? GW, you obviously saved it for your mock up. Can you post the unedited version again?

  4. QUOTE (lifeson90 @ Apr 7 2012, 11:36 AM) QUOTE (RushIslander @ Apr 7 2012, 07:58 AM) All too often, artists depict a crescent moon near the horizon with the illuminated portion opposite from the angle of sunlight depicted throughout the rest of an image...like this one. could indicate another source of illumination like another sun but the observation is noted Binary star. The reflected light from the moon is what's illuminating the foreground. A lighting mistake. All are plausible options. It's still a really nice image, though.
  5. QUOTE (drbirdsong @ Apr 6 2012, 05:42 PM) Bands have been issuing radio edits forever. The hysteria is getting out of hand around here. I'm not sure how long you're defining "forever" in your comment. Because, indeed, there have been radio edit versions of songs since there has been radio. But, how often have 2 singles been sold from an upcoming album release well over a year ahead of the release, then included as live versions for purchase again, and then the next single edited and available for sale, and then the album available? I'm sure it's happened before, but it has not be Rush's MO in the past. And, since it's the diehard fans that will be the repeat buyers, not the casual fans, it seems a bit . . . off. Fans being frustrated about the length of release, the timing, and the failure to get any official confirmation of anything at all is hardly hysteria. Which, by the way, that "hysteria" is what's going to drive the sales of the radio edit anyway. If Rr thinks casual fans are going to double-buy, they're insane.
  6. QUOTE (Dylan2712 @ Apr 6 2012, 08:14 PM) in regards to the clock; now all you have to do is modify one of those clock do-hickies that makes it chime a different tune every hour. You know, they make those birthday cards with the little sound things in them. They have one that you can record your own message, too. Some of the clock works you can buy have a chime feature. It wouldn't be that hard to record a rush snippet, like the intro to Limelight or something, and replace the chime with that. Ha! Now that I think about it, my grandmother had this bird clock that chirped a different tune on each hour. I bet you could modify something like that!
  7. QUOTE (treeduck @ Apr 6 2012, 02:19 PM) Is this deja vu, or are you guys a little behind the times here? Didn't you already ask that?
  8. Yeah, well I'm so tired of waiting for something new I made a clock. Well, "made" may not be the right word. Okay, I "improved" an existing clock. (This is awesome and you won't be able to convince me otherwise.) http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/5121/rushtime.jpg Now, in my office, it's always time for Rush . . .
  9. QUOTE (Snaked @ Apr 6 2012, 11:09 AM) thats fan art, it's been around a while. And the big ALTALAMATOX.DEVIANTART right in the middle sort of gives it away as not being anything official.
  10. QUOTE (Lost In Xanadu @ Apr 5 2012, 10:21 AM) There is a hidden teaser on Rush.com. look at the bottom of the page. Click the blue wire on the right, then the orange-ish red wire to the right of the blue. Then the green wire on the left. Click the middle vacuum tube thing, then the white wire. Click the left vacuum tube then the steering wheel, the right vacuum tube and the speedometer at the top left. One minor correction: I had to double-click the white wire to make it work.
  11. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Apr 5 2012, 08:45 AM) Today's news from RIAB (Thurs, 4/5) is that the song will get "very limited" radio airplay on Wednesday 4/11, then "limited" airplay on 4/19, and all radio stations and iTunes will have it on 4/24. This news comes from RIAB. We're less than a week away from the supposed limited release. I honestly don't understand the point of the marketing campaign for this release. Why does that have to come from unofficial RIAB? Why can't Roadrunner or Anthem just officially come out and say those exact same things and an exact album release date? I mean, I'm not asking this in a "WHY? WHY?!" kind of way, but rather seriously curious. Are they worried that too much promotion will lead to a more likely leak? Are they busy working for other artists? Are the band members controlling when to say what, and it takes three votes to get it done? From Rr website: http://img862.imageshack.us/img862/5755/nickw.jpg The track list and the release date were officially publicized almost two full months before the album release date. For f-ing Nickelback. Why can't they do something like that for Rush? What's the big deal?
  12. QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Apr 5 2012, 08:45 AM) Well, I think I have my answer. Today's news from RIAB (Thurs, 4/5) is that the song will get "very limited" radio airplay on Wednesday 4/11, then "limited" airplay on 4/19, and all radio stations and iTunes will have it on 4/24. Screw the 4/19 and 4/24 dates, because once ANYONE plays it on 4/11 it will be all over the Net by that afternoon. There's our "tease," "leak," "snippet," "sample" or whatever you want to call it. Wednesday the 11th. Yeah, especially screw the 24th date if only the single Headlong Flight is available for download. I'm not buying that single and then buying it again as part of the album a month later.
  13. QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Apr 4 2012, 04:13 PM) oooh from RIAB We learned last week that Headlong Flight is the title of the first single that will be released from Rush's upcoming Clockwork Angels album. Roadrunner began shopping the single out to various folks in the radio industry last Wednesday setting the Twittersphere abuzz with reactions - all very positive. The track is about 7.5 minutes long and has been described as epic by those who have heard it along with some comparisons to By-tor and the Snow Dog and mid-70s Rush. You can read all the reactions in this post. I'd initially heard that the single will be released to radio on April 19th but now have some more details. Apparently there will be a very limited (probably just a one-off spin) preview release on select stations next Wednesday, April 11th. Then the track will be released on a limited number of stations April 19-20th. The general radio release along with a digital release on iTunes and other formats will occur on Tuesday, April 24th. More information as I learn it. I don't know why people keep saying "first single" from Clockwork Angels. And, I gotta say, if only the single is available on Apr 24, that's pretty crappy. They already got my money when Caravan & BU2B were released and would get it again when I buy the full album. But, this dribbling it out crap sucks.
  14. QUOTE (Unobtrusive Companion @ Apr 4 2012, 04:13 PM) EDIT: Two posters beat me to it, damn! Some people are excited and anxious to hear something new and are constantly checking teh interwebz for news. Not me, though.
  15. From RIAB: New partial info on release So, just the single then?
  16. Grover Collins is one of the radio people that heard Headlong Flight from a Roadrunner rep, then commented on it. A couple days ago, and again today, Grover Collins tweeted that "Headlong Flight" would be available on iTunes on 4/24. Grover All Over Some twit should ask him what the heck he is talking about. If that's true, I seriously hope they are not going to f-ing release this album one song at a time digitally prior to making the whole CD album available.
  17. The Rush.com website is always the last to post stuff because there are so many people that have to approve content before it can be put "out there." If the Roadrunner PR machine is going to do any pre-release stuff, teases or "leaks" or whatever, it will need to happen today. Otherwise, they might as well just wait until April 19. This is baseball's opening week, the Masters starts tomorrow, Titanic 3D hits theatres, it's Easter . . . anything released tomorrow or over the next 5 days is going to get completely lost in the news cycle.
  18. QUOTE (Mara @ Apr 4 2012, 09:57 AM) Can I just have the band follow me around playing the album live nonstop? You can . . . as long as "the band" is Vertical Horizon and you have $25,000. Purchase Here
  19. QUOTE (Tick @ Apr 4 2012, 06:45 AM) Call me old fashioned but I only buy 8 track tapes. Pfft. If it's not released on tin foil-wrapped cylinder, I won't even listen to it.
  20. QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Apr 3 2012, 05:41 PM) QUOTE (KenJennings @ Apr 3 2012, 03:24 PM) This is what it looked like. http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/8696/82961069.png dude you totally forgot the lens flare. And you forgot the dudes with bayonet rifles and the woman hugging on the dead dude. And, if you did that from memory, that's freakin' awesome. Actually, it's awesome anyway. Screw Hugh Syme - they should use that as the cover.
  21. QUOTE (treeduck @ Apr 3 2012, 04:19 PM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Apr 3 2012, 04:18 PM) This will blow your mind? Now the question is? Is the image of the Hydrant Appearing or Fading because of the dog pee? It could be water leaking from the hydrant... It means if you go take a pee break during the concert, they'll play your favorite Signals song.
  22. QUOTE (Tigershark2112 @ Apr 3 2012, 01:42 PM) The dressed hand is the watchmaker, and the arm with the ragged clothing is our protagonist in the story. Plus carnivals have been mentioned, and we see a ferris wheel in the background. Re: the dressed hand - it looks odd. When I wear a dress shirt with cuff links, they fall to the outside of my arm, not the inside. Just sayin' The cufflink - looks like a clockwork television or something. Who are the people that are dying/fighting? The ones that are "loved to death" by the loving watchmaker? Still skeptical about the authenticity, but it's really cool looking.
  23. QUOTE (Joesaracer @ Apr 3 2012, 01:16 PM) QUOTE (anchorman @ Apr 3 2012, 01:12 PM) QUOTE (danielmclark @ Apr 3 2012, 12:00 PM) QUOTE (H. P. L. @ Apr 3 2012, 10:51 AM) QUOTE (danielmclark @ Apr 3 2012, 06:32 PM) QUOTE (Storm Shadow @ Apr 3 2012, 10:28 AM) QUOTE (Rushman14 @ Apr 3 2012, 12:11 PM)here's the latest from RIAB http://www.rushisaband.com/images/201204/2250.f.jpg Trenken's gonna love all that bevel. It's a retarded cover. Just ridiculous. And I ain't buyin' it. It might have come from "a trusted source" but I refuse to believe that's the final art until I see it on Rush.com. The list of things wrong, or at least unprofessional, about it is pretty friggin' long. Actually, this could be the outer cover of a digipak cd box. Looks like a kind of prelude to the actual cover. You might be onto something there. Outer covers like that often only incorporate a few basic elements. I could absolutely see this being used that way... though I'm still not fully convinced if only because of the bevels on the symbols. It looks to me, and someone like trenken can probably weigh in, it looks like someone took the symbols from the Caravan artwork, overlaid them with a generic texture and applied a bevel. The problem with this is that putting a bevel on something creates a light source, indirectly. The reason the beveled side is lighter is because light is hitting it differently - but if the bevel isn't adjusted on a per-symbol basis, it looks like each one has its own light source. Instead of having a global source of light, it's like there's a little tiny light illuminating each symbol... which doesn't make much sense in this context. It might be a minor thing... but it's enough to make me think that this might not be official art to be used on a release. But I could be wrong. Those bevels just really bother me. You're being kind. The time is still wrong. The time isn't wrong. Look closely. The 9 is a trident. The hand on the clock next to the trident blends in with the trident to make it look longer. It appears as a near illusion. Correct me if I am wrong, but do classic clocks have a fancier hour hand than minute hand to ease confusion? The hands look the same length to me. It could easily be representing 9:12. The other little nubby thing isn't part of the hand pointing at 9, it's the second hand pointing at 3. Many Rush covers have "3" images.
