QUOTE (Cosy Toes @ Jan 28 2011, 05:12 PM) QUOTE (Tony R @ Jan 28 2011, 11:45 PM) QUOTE (shail @ Jan 26 2011, 03:51 PM) neil took prog drumming to a new level back in the day. he's the god father of prog drumming. no doubt in my mind about that. gavin harrison has done something special with prog drumming. he's played a ton of pop gigs. that was his thing for a while. mike portnoy didn't have that much to offer. bill bruford has some some great phrasings. mark zonder played some really nice stuff with fates warning. i'm sure terry bozzio could play some sweet stuff put in a prog rock vibe. so many good drummers. You can't be serious! Classic Prog was to all intents and purposes on its way out by the time Rush recorded 2112 and to refer to Peart as the "Godfather of Prog" is just plain silly. Look to the likes of Bruford, Collins, Palmer, Barriemore-Barlow and Michael Giles who had all drummed with distinction on major seminal Prog albums before Rush even recorded. Rush were a crossover Prog/Heavy Rock band who stood astride both camps without really being typical of either, hence Peart's broad appeal. The major classic Prog drummers were heavily influenced by jazz whereas whilst Peart was a fan of Rich and Krupa, stylistically he was influenced by those Prog drummers as well as Moon and Bonham. Peart then went on to influence the more technical metal drummers, especially in the genre that was to become Prog Metal. U R a Cock. Pert is like so the apotheosis of Prog Drumming. Without Pert and Rush there would be no Prog Rock, and we would all be thinking that Uriah Heep were so far out.

No, I just don't think she's attractive, she looks like she got hit in the face with a frying pan when she was young. -

QUOTE (shaun3701 @ Jan 25 2011, 01:12 PM) QUOTE (Oracle @ Jan 25 2011, 12:31 AM) Possibly lost my best friend who just called my crush 'f***ing stupid'. Mess with the person I love and you get it, but now I'm regretting every single word. so wait, is it a "crush" or are you "in love"? To lose a friend over someone you're just crushing on seems a little silly. This.

QUOTE (Xanadu93 @ Jan 23 2011, 04:25 PM) Got friendzoned today by the girl I've had a crush on for three months. Wanna know what's even better? A mutual friend told me, not the girl herself, which really pissed me off. on her face.

I think the majority of metal drummers play pretty generic things. I think that jazz drummers are probably better than prog drummers for the most part, though prog drummers tend to be better than metal drummers. Bruford is probably my favorite drummer from any genre.

QUOTE (slappa_da_bass @ Jan 22 2011, 08:46 AM) QUOTE (In A Tidewater Surge @ Jan 22 2011, 03:32 AM) QUOTE (Kenneth @ Jan 22 2011, 01:19 AM) 93 - Totem This song has a nice variety of sounds. I like Geddy's "woahs" throughout the choruses. 6/10 92 - The Stars Look Down This used to be my favorite song from VT. I personally think they're on fire on this song. Only problem with this song really is that it's a bit repetitive. 6/10 91 - Manhattan Project 0:14 - 0:30 = Barney Music! Cheeseball song with a cheeseball concept, good thing it has that awesome synthy PoW instrument sound to save it big time. The ending guitar solo makes for one of the most memorable Rush moments. 6.5/10 Enrico was all about his cheese I thought Enrico was all about playing with bonfires? That too, Enrico was a man rather fond of his fondue as well. -

You know you're a Rush fan when your name is Tim and you complain daily about not having a girlfriend, but you look like a gopher with an afro and a mustache. Umadyet? -
