  1. QUOTE (softfilter @ Aug 14 2011, 08:12 PM) QUOTE (Scars @ Aug 14 2011, 08:03 PM) What about "I Think I'm Going Bald" That's not a instrumental... Light hearted and silly attempt by Rush at a hippie anthem of changing times. Good guitar jam by Alex (Plus i guess it's title is aimed at Alex who had concern he was losing his hair) Please read the original quote. The poster said "worst title of ANY Rush song" not "worst title of all Rush instrumentals." So I brought up ITIGB as an example of a song that possibly has a worse title than WMT
  2. QUOTE (laughedatbytime @ Aug 14 2011, 12:59 PM) Where's My Thing? gets my vote. Also gets my vote for the worst title for any Rush song. What about "I Think I'm Going Bald" or "Leave That Thing Alone"?
  3. QUOTE (ColdFireYYZ @ Aug 10 2011, 06:39 PM) Also, is everyone who bought tickets in the 1st 30 rows eligible? I bought them from the official website, not from scalpers. Just making sure I was supposed to get the package. I'm not sure what you mean there...If you bought the VIP package then you're obviously getting the VIP package (which are in the first 15 rows, not 30). If you bought a ticket in the first 15 rows but didn't specifically buy the package, then you're not getting the package. I think that it is possible to have a seat in the first 15 rows without getting the VIP package, so you may need to check on that if that could be the issue.
  4. It's one thing to say that maybe MalNar, Limbo, or WMT aren't exactly the greatest Rush songs, but how could anyone consider those full-on band efforts to be worse than just Alex droning on for 2 minutes on an acoustic?
  5. QUOTE (Mara @ Aug 3 2011, 09:43 AM) I'm curious: of those of you who've had this done, did you adhere to the "no solid foods, clear liquids and/or hard candies" rule the day before? Or did you cheat just a little? Can ANYONE suggest something I can drink that actually has some nutrition in it besides sugar? Is there a clear liquid protein drink out there? Because I really am not looking forward to the fast. If I remember correctly (it was a while ago), I stuck to the no solid foods rule 100% (better safe than sorry). The only thing I remember having aside of the prep (albeit very little) was some beef stock and Gatorade. I've seen many differentiating reports on what is truly allowed during the "cleansing" process, but there are overwhelmingly very little non-sugary products allowed. Water, assorted broths, coffee and tea (without anything added) are probably your best bet--you could also shoot for a sugar-less clear soda or gelatin.
  6. Been a faithful Zune user for about 3-4 years (not so happily the past year though). Ever since the enormously overpriced ZuneHD came out what seems like seconds after the original 120, I've sort of lost interest. When Zune first came out it was "on-par" with iPod at best and at no point in it's life did it ever make a significant attempt at outdoing the iPod (besides catering to Apple-haters). I've owned two 80GB models for as long as I've had a Zune and never did I feel like I was holding something better than anything else on the market. I use the Zune software today as my primary source of playing music from my PC (probably just because I own a Zune and I love the layout of the software). The fact that there is no EQ to be found on the device or the software is COMPLETELY ridiculous though. I've also ran into a million-and-one problems with syncing, deleting, tagging, organization, even playing. I suppose I've just learned to deal with it since I'm stuck with it as long as I have a Zune. I loved the look and feel of the Zune, I loved the idea behind the Zune. But Microsoft absolutely refused to do anything that would make people go "I could get an iPod, but check out what the Zune does better!" They rushed out the HD and simultaneously pissed off those who realized the HD wasn't all it was cracked up to be and those who owned the original models who realized that they're being ditched. I'm not an "Apple-lover" at all, but if you look at them, you'd see that they managed to create a completely efficient and versatile software (iTunes) and also were able to fully support 4 different models of iPods (which in turn were constantly kept relevant by iTunes). Microsoft never bothered to even fully support their original 2 Zunes when they were current (before the HD, us Zune owners had to download a crapload of third-party apps just to play someones homemade games) before jumping to the HD. ...Sorry, I'm ranting.
  7. I may not be a "New World Woman" but I did have a colonoscopy about 2-3 years ago. As you said, the worst part is definitely the prep (unless you're a complete wuss like me and are deathly afraid of needles, in which case that will be then ). I don't know if the stuff has changed but the prep liquid was pretty much the equivalent of drinking plastic syrup a thousand-times in 24-hours (to which I was allowed to add *some* powder "flavoring"). As you've been told, you should definitely continue on with the procedure the way it's set (you have no idea how badly I wanted to just cancel it). A day of sitting on the toilet and drinking the prep and eating nothing can ONLY be worth it once the procedure is over and done. If it helps, I watched a few YouTube videos of people going in for a colonscopy (LenEdgerly had a particularly notable few videos). It helped me knowing that their were people who were able to make light of the entire experience so I could realize there's nothing to fret over and only good comes from going through with it
  8. While the "retrospective" is cool (except for the cut-off parts)--in the context of the black guitar, it looks absolutely horrendous. Is that an Ibanez? I'll give the guy credit for going the extra mile to make it look authentic, but the true problem here is that it's clearly NOWHERE near authentic. I would absolutely love to see this "full page letter complimenting us on our design, dedication and craftsmanship." Craftsmanship? The thing LOOKS like it sounds like crap. Also, note how the description says that two of those guitars were made, but on the back of the head-stock, it reads "1 of 1." Please guys, make all effort to report this item before some poor sap buys into this crap (literally). QUOTE (SignatureAurora75 @ Jul 31 2011, 07:20 PM)QUOTE (mrbarlint @ Jul 31 2011, 03:37 PM) Plus, he took a huge gamble by not taking Sig's offer of $250. LOL. The ad never even mentioned exactly what kind of wood was used to build this. Any guesses what it might be? Plywood? Balsa?
  9. His covers are absolutely flawless. I watch his videos of songs I don't even know or like because that is how spot-on and amazing he is.
  10. It was a tough decision between WTA and Faithless, but I went with Faithless. What would I replace it with? Anything. Realistically, something from one of the untouched albums this tour, probably "Test for Echo."
  11. EDIT: Double post, forgive me.
  12. QUOTE (hughes&kettner @ Jul 2 2011, 08:32 AM) QUOTE (Scars @ Jul 1 2011, 07:09 PM) ONLY two? I think if given the option, I'd be dumping half the setlist... OUT: Faithless Workin' Them Angels The fact that S&A has 3 songs yet Fly By Night, Caress Of Steel, Grace Under Pressure, Roll The Bones, Test For Echo, and Vapor Trails don't even get touched ticked me off. So to compensate for at least some of those albums, I'd put in Test for Echo and Dreamline. dreamline??... Well I wanted to get the Roll the Bones album in there somehow--the only logical choices they would play anymore though would be Dreamline, Bravado, Roll the Bones and Ghost of a Chance. Scratching Bravado and GOAC (to maintain a more upbeat tempo) and it was a toss up between the remaining two.
  13. ONLY two? I think if given the option, I'd be dumping half the setlist... 14. So everyone complains about the production of Presto, RTB and VT, and when one of those three is going to be remastered, it's still not good enough?
  15. Are you sure about that "c-c--" word?

I had been listening to Rush since 2008 (I'm currently 20), idolizing them and being inspired by their every song. When I finally saw them live for the first time last July, I'll admit I got teary-eyed during the opening of "The Spirit of Radio." No, I didn't breakdown and cry, but there was something working up. Just seeing the band that had become my life musically and hearing those notes I had become so familiar with--it was overwhelming for a moment.
  17. QUOTE (tcbroonsie @ May 25 2011, 03:31 PM) Perhaps it was Max Webster opening for them and the boys joined them on stage to play that song. Max Webster opened for them on the Moving Pictures tour, not the ESL tour. According to Wikipedia (take it how you will): "Among the highlights of the band's career were their New Year's Eve shows at Toronto's Maple Leaf Gardens. Geddy Lee of Rush joined the band onstage to sing & play his Rickenbacker bass guitar for "Battle Scar" on December 31, 1980 when the band headlined the show."
  18. It's definitely on point with video and sound...the only problem is that it's a pretty bad performance--they look and sound bored as hell.
  19. If Rush does decide to do a farewell tour, I think it's only appropriate they call it the "A Farewell to Kings" tour.
  20. QUOTE (smocs @ May 2 2011, 02:22 PM) One more question: anybody know if I could find the tabs for the acoustic solo anywhere? I did a quick google search and search of this forum and didn't come up with anything You're better off watching a video of the piece on YouTube or waiting until the DVD comes out and figuring it out on your own (not just because the chances of it getting tabbed are slim-to-none, but because there's no better way to learn something than by figuring it out for yourself ). It shouldn't be too hard either since the video should be 100% focused on Alex.
  21. I named it "boring."
  22. Interesting, just checked for curiosity purposes and now only the 300-level seats are available. On the seating chart 114 and 120 are greyed out, which I assumed meant that no tickets would be on sale for those sections.
  23. Being from Illinois yourself, have you tried Craigslist yet? There are probably many people trying to sell them last minute, just make sure it's not a scam and that you're not paying too much. The only reason I say that is you're more likely to find a non-fan selling their tickets there than you are a fan selling tickets here. All in all, I wish you the best of luck with your ticket search. EDIT: Just checked Ticketmaster and had 2 seats come up in section 311. Maybe they're being released last-minute, but as of right now, they're there.
  24. Seriously, what is wrong with wearing the t-shirt of the band you're going to see? I've never heard about that being something uncool until I read this thread.
