  1. I'm on my 9th listen and it's even AWESOMER than before!
  2. It makes sense for them to do it front to back. But I agree that Geddy's voice won't make it. A better question might be which parts would they NOT do and still keep the storyline intact?
  3. QUOTE (English Muffin @ Jun 14 2012, 02:36 PM) I'm thinking it will surface when Rush decide to retire Yep. And probably only on Blu-Ray.
  4. Interesting..... QUOTE Neil Peart (born 5 October 1958) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood, Richmond and Footscray in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1980s. Initially a VFL player at Northcote, Peart was a key defender. He spent the 1982 VFL season playing for Collingwood before being traded to Richmond the following season. In 1984 he was twice voted best on ground at the Brownlow Medal count, for his efforts against North Melbourne and Hawthorn. In 1985 he found himself at Footscray, with whom he would play nine VFL games, including a qualifying final and preliminary final. By returning to Richmond in 1986, Peart had switched clubs four times in five seasons. He could only add another nine games to his career tally in his second stint at Richmond.
  5. I guess one way to look at it is at least I can't break this case. Besides....I've already got a high quality rip of the thing, which likely means I will be shelving the CD anyway.
  6. This is nearly impossible for me. It's like having your 12 children in front of you and being asked to pick your favorite 4. I just can't do it, at least not now. It's all one family of songs to me.
  7. This thread now officially sucks. I'm tired of participating in it and will no longer respond to any posts in it.
  8. I'd probably like it a lot more if I hadn't been listening to it for about a month and a half now.
  9. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Jun 14 2012, 02:24 PM) Nope...it's actually been pushed back another 2 years now. Neil became a born-again Christian, and now has to re-write the entire story.
  10. QUOTE (Xanadoood @ Jun 14 2012, 02:20 PM) I dont find what trenken said to be all that inflammatory. He doesnt like some aspects of the album. And he is being accused of being a troll. I dont blame him for his attitude toward certain fans on here. I give a shit when i see people being douchebags to others for having a different opinion. And guys like you who feel the need to police the board with your 10 year message board expertise. Got it all out now? Thanks again for singling me out, when there have been loads of other people saying the exact same thing I have been. Whatevs, but your "I don't give a shit" stance is anything but. Otherwise, you wouldn't bother to post.
  11. QUOTE (eshine @ Jun 14 2012, 02:19 PM) Fanbois deserve to engage in a big circle jerk around this album. It's excellent, better then any of us really expected - and a giant middle finger to all the naysayers who have been ripping Rush to shreds on this and other boards for the last decade. Incoming in 5....4...3...2...
  12. QUOTE (SignofEth @ Jun 14 2012, 02:01 PM) I have to say I'm disappointed with this album. I've listened to it a handful of times now and I can't get into it. It's a great piece of work, just not one of my fav. S&A and Vapor Trails were incredible. But somehow this album lacks something. I found myself putting this cd away, and pulling out Hemispheres and Caress of Steel. Perhaps it'll sound different in a few weeks. For now, not something I'm dying to listen to when I have a moment to relax. Note to everyone who is confused on the topic.....this is NOT a troll. Now that we've cleared that up....... I hope you grow to like the album as I have. I see Rush as putting a lot of hard work into this album, as it really moves me at certain points. And it's growing on me.
  13. QUOTE (Gompers @ Jun 14 2012, 01:32 PM) QUOTE (losingit2k @ Jun 14 2012, 01:29 PM) QUOTE (barney_rebel @ Jun 14 2012, 12:14 PM) This album is the best album ever recorded by Rush... Except when Snakes and Arrows came out (then it was the best album ever recorded by Rush). Actually the next album will be the best RUSH album ever! Nah, the mix will be muddy.
  14. QUOTE (KenJennings @ Jun 14 2012, 01:23 AM) With CA now front and center- I'm left wondering if the ride is over. Don't get me wrong, I'm greatful for every moment of it. If 'The Garden' is truly the last unique Rush song I will ever hear, I will be a satisfied man. I almost can't imagine a better way to end 'er. I'd love to hear more Rush. They're my heartfelt favorite band, but something is to be said for leaving on a high note. I know there's only three guys in the world who know if they're done, but I almost gotta hope this is the fitting end. Just too good. I tend to agree. That's probably also why I appreciate this album so much.
  15. QUOTE (EmotionDetector @ Jun 14 2012, 12:29 PM) QUOTE (Rush Cocky @ Jun 14 2012, 11:49 AM) This is inflammatory and will be called out as such by me most times when I see it. It also adds no value to a discussion. RC...I'm usually with you on many things, so let me run this by you. That line I quoted from you...do you not think that applies to this entire thread? I mean...really, what was the purpose of this thread in the first place? Does it really add any 'value' to TRF. Nope...at least, I don't think so. I don't know.....what's the purpose of a treeduck 40-option poll? Or one of the crazy threads that Tick has started in the past? The answer to both of those is nothing really, but it does help to lighten the mood a bit. Personally, I took this thread when I saw it as very funny. As in trolling the trolls, what a twist. But it's a novelty thing, and if we start 3 more threads like this one, it's no longer funny. I was content to make my one comment in this thread and let drop to page 2 (an into oblivion). GR79 was not, he threw gas on the fire with his comment, and that's why we're still hashing it out in here. My 2 cents.
  16. QUOTE (marblesmike @ Jun 14 2012, 12:13 PM) I'm sorry, I was being a little oversensitive myself. You never personally attacked me (that was someone else...) although you did sort of insinuate I was a troll but who cares. In a week I'll probably go back into lurker mode and we can forget this happened. No problem here. I like your thoughts, even if I don't agree with some of them. If we all agreed on everything, there'd be nothing to discuss. So I'm good and ready to move on.
  17. QUOTE (rushgoober @ Jun 14 2012, 01:15 PM) QUOTE (BigBob @ Jun 14 2012, 10:12 AM) Still can't hear "the pedlar II" maybe it's a problem with your equipment. what do you lack? Brilliant.

    The Garden

Listening to it now. Totally awesome.......
  19. QUOTE (marblesmike @ Jun 14 2012, 11:57 AM) QUOTE (Rush Cocky @ Jun 14 2012, 11:52 AM) QUOTE (marblesmike @ Jun 14 2012, 11:36 AM) Then people need to grow up. Yes, most notably the people who incite such rhetoric. Either grow up, or check into a clinic, I don't care. Apparently you do care. No reason to argue over such trivial crap man. I am just trying to express my opinion about the sound of the new album with other Rush fans without being attacked for it. To be fair though, besides you and LosingIt most people are engaging in an interesting conversation. List one post where I have attacked you. I'll wait.
  20. QUOTE (marblesmike @ Jun 14 2012, 11:50 AM) So what if they do? It's an internet message board. It's not like they're killing your wife and family. Boo hoo, someone on an internet message board not only disagrees with me, but they called me names! I'm not trying to be a jerk, but come on man. It's a nicer place when people can express varying opinions without being called out for disagreeing with the main conforming opinion. TRF is never been a board that has had a lot of namecalling, which is one of the reasons I love the place. There are other places where the mods look the other way when the discussion gets personal, but traditionally this has not been TRF. And frankly, I'm surprised that this thread is still open, because we're not really covering any new ground here.
  21. QUOTE (marblesmike @ Jun 14 2012, 11:36 AM) Then people need to grow up. Yes, most notably the people who incite such rhetoric. Either grow up, or check into a clinic, I don't care.
  22. Congrats TupeloBarchetta! I still remember, and enjoyed, meeting you in Alpharetta for Time Machine. Good times. Have a great day!
