  1. You're taking Neil's words out of context. Maybe he's just super excited for this album and he's anxious to get it out there so they can start touring on it? They're getting older, but I think they still have another decade left. There are bands far older and in way worse shape than Rush and they're still rocking. Either way, they're time is winding down. But if this album is awesome, they'll keep going. It's in their blood, they wouldn't know what the hell to do if they retired, they've never known anything else. And of course, I could be completely wrong about this too, but if I were a betting man (which I am lol) I'd put down a lot of cash that this won't be their last effort.
  2. Moving Pictures 2112 Permanent Waves Hemispheres Snakes and Arrows (quite possibly replaced by CA in the future)
  3. If Geddy is saying it's gonna be out by Christmas, then I have a feeling they have been far busier behind the scenes than we think. I mean, it's been about 1 year this month since Caravan and BU2B were released, they have had a lot of time to work on it even if it were small bits at a time, it adds up. Sorry, I'm just optimistic about this.
  4. I think everyone is giving Eddie a little too much credit. He's not that good, I know a ton of amateur guitar players who can make eruption sound alright, but almost no one can play the opening lick to Spirit of Radio correctly.
  5. What I said was an opinion? Really? I just thought the radical statements made it clear I was already expressing my opinion. "100x the guitarist" is obviously a real statistic, not one I threw out there by opinion. It's already clear on this thread that it's all opinion-based anyway. If you wanna discuss something, how about discussing the actual matter rather than pointing out that I didn't clarify my ridiculous claims as opinion. It would make for much more interesting chat rather than me having to post this instead. I feel like the internet has been around long enough that I don't have to put "IMO" after every sentence... IMHO ALEX > Eddie (yes, this is a freakin opinion, what right would I ever have to make the claim as fact? It's who is better in my mind.)
  6. All Eddie does is 'weedle-dee-doos' all the time. He's never written a song that I love. Alex writes the best music I've ever heard. There is simply no question on who I think the better guitarist is. Besides, I think Eddie is a straight-up jackass and has been most of his career. I was quite apalled to find out that he replaced Michael Anthony (one of the coolest bassists ever) with his fat, Roy Orbison look-alike son... until Chickenfoot happened. Now Mr. Anthony is DEFINITELY playing with a better guitarist than Eddie. Satriani is about 100x the guitar player/musician Eddie could ever be. Don't get me wrong, I like a few Van Halen tunes but they really just aren't my kind of music. ALEX FTW
  7. How do you mess up the opening line from a song you've been playing for 30+ years? He must have been pretty that night!
  8. Workin' Them Angels for Analog Kid (always wanted to hear this live) La Villa for Natural Science (probably my favorite tune)
  9. My father took me to my first Rush show 4 years ago. Rush was not my favorite band at the time, but by the end of the show they certainly were and I've never looked back. Also, I should say that Rush is not my father's favorite band but he's enjoyed them over the years enough and knew I had an interest in them from non-stop Tom Sawyer riffing in my bedroom for months that he thought it would be awesome to take me. I have since been to 2 other Rush shows, sadly without my father because he often works out of town for months. He bought us tickets for the show in Cleveland in December not knowing if he would be able to make the show in April. He lucked out and got a 2 week break and was able to attend the show with me. So, when the band came out and started Spirit of Radio, I did in fact tear up just a little. The energy of the place was extremely vibrant and I believe also contributed to my teary eyes for those first few moments. Just the fact that everything worked out perfectly and we had amazing time was enough though. I'm 23, some moments in life are just beautiful and time does, in fact, stand still.
  10. I'm a Rush fan at a strictly Rush website, what kind of question is this? Of course I'm gonna buy it! Plus I was at the show, so it's a must have for me. Can't wait for it! (Though the bluray should be free to me since I paid to see the show once already)
  11. I had no idea Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn were at the show! Must have gotten to my seat a little late
  12. There's no words to explain why Cleveland was the most amazing night of my life, I guess you just had to be there to get it buddy, you just had to be there.
  13. At least I know my enthusiasm was genuine, one of the best nights of my life. Alex's solo for Working Man blew my mind, my jaw was on the floor. I've never seen ol' Lerxst shred like that before
  14. YES! Theres NO way I'm missing this show, I've never been to a concert that was filmed with anything better than an iphone camera so this should be awesome! So glad they picked Cleveland! (though they should have just done it in Columbus and saved me a few bucks, but oh well not complaining)
  15. I don't care if you people think I'm selfish, I don't even know any of you and none of you are Geddy, Alex, or Neil so I'm not out to impress...just to be myself. If you don't like it, tough luck. Yes, I am selfish but so is everyone else with an opinion they believe to be the right one. Look at it that way.
  16. Call me stupid and selfish but I don't have the time to re-read the same posts over and over and still try to make the same passionate argument more than once. If this was the first time someone mentioned pot on this board I would be willing to have a conversation, but this is like the billionth time this tour someone has brought it up. Guess I should just start ignoring all these threads. I admit, and easier and less offensive reply would have just been to simply say: POT IS AWESOME
  17. Oh jesus christ, grow up and don't take your kids to rock shows if you don't want them to be around drugs. Otherwise, stay inside your house and never go out if you're so damn afraid of everything. This gets so old. And like posting about it on the rush forum is going to get anything done about it. You're complaining to the wrong people.
  18. No doubt, Geddy's the worst singer ever. Why would anyone ever go see that big nosed geezer squeal like a cat in a blender? Terrible. He should just give up.
  19. I think they will film a show this tour in South America, I don't see any reason why not. And I don't believe any 'source' until it actually happens. Nothing is certain. This tour is just too epic to not be filmed. And if you don't like the fact that they put out dvds from each tour I got a simple solution: Don't buy it. No one has a gun to your head. Just be happy that the option is there.
  20. Wow, Janie. Is someone spoiled a bit? There just ain't no pleasing some people.
  21. Eh, I'll pass and just make my own playlist on itunes rather than waste money on a bunch of songs I already own. I have no use for cd's anymore really.
  22. I don't know what you're talking about, he was spot on in Columbus this year. He nailed the bridge to Freewill and ALL of 2112/Temples (though I know its in a lowered key). All I'm saying is his performance was so good that his voice was never even an issue the entire night. He's heading on 60 and has been touring for 35+ years. Give the man a break.
  23. I saw this at Wal mart the other day. I took a pic of it on my phone but I was too lazy to post it. It looked weird lol.
