  1. Dear Flight 604 Seat-Mate, It's been nearly 2 full months since we shared a plane ride to the Rush concert and I find myself still thinking about you all the time. I felt so comfortable and at ease chatting with you, just casual stuff about Rush and other small talk, that I now sometimes want to kick myself for having had my Flirt-O-Meter set so low and not having learned more about you -- like where you work, your marital status, your NAME! But then again, there was a reason I was playing it on the cool and reserved side. And that's because I had just come off from a 25 year marriage and knew that I am not ready to even think about dating much less get involved in another relationship. Not to imply that our conversation was heading in that direction, just saying that I was taking emotional precautions to insure it wouldn't. So I guess what I really want to say to you is "thanks". Thank you for reminding me what it feels like to have that little flutter of the heart and, more importantly, thank you for giving me something that I haven't felt in a very, very long time -- HOPE. Hope that there is still a ghost of a chance that someday, if and when I am ready for it, there will be someone as kind, witty, and handsome as you out there for me to meet. And for that I owe you a debt of gratitude. Wishing you a wonderful life, The Mile-High Stranger
  2. I just conferred with my daughter who went to the Seattle show with me (her memory is much better than mine) and she says that his shopping cart was filled with rubber chickens which he put in the time machine and threw one out to the crowd. Later he came back and it looked like he was putting raw meat into a meat-grinding type machine which came out as linked sausages. I like your idea about the album covers; there was so much to watch onstage it was hard to take it all in.
  3. I like Neil's idea of having a revolving floor where the first 20 rows rotates throughout the evening.
  4. WTG Rushchick, I didn't know you had won a song contest for that pass. But I don't doubt it for a second because you were singing EVERY single word of EVERY single song when we stood together at the White River show. And I was MUCH impressed! I'm not seeing the picture you posted here though, just getting the little blue box with question mark in it. Maybe cause I'm on a MacBook?? Back to topic - I actually thought their energy level was considerably lower at Vegas than Seattle the week before, especially from Alex. Geddy's voice sounded nearly identical at both shows. He seemed to strain a lot during the first 2 songs which brought out the mother instinct in me, made me want to go up there give him some nice hot lemon tea and rub his shoulders. But I needn't have worried, he sounded in beautiful full voice the rest of both evenings. Both concerts were PHENOMENAL!!!!! Edit to add: Now I can see the photo, WOW! Hmmm, is that a lipstick kiss on Alex's cheek?
  5. QUOTE (quickfree @ Aug 15 2010, 06:05 PM) I don't think he's mad at the song but it just looks plain weird that way. His concentration during the acoustic solo is near perfect and he didn't distracted. I don't know about that. He may not look "distracted" but he seems visibly upset throughout the entire song, even the acoustic part. His jaw is clenched so tight! Makes Neil look downright chillin' and relaxed in comparison, LOL. I watched a couple other earlier songs on youtube and he didn't seem his usual cheerful self in those either. Anyway, for whatever reason he lost his cool, this is the total opposite of the Alex I saw at the Seattle show last week where he was all smiles, all night. He was far more subdued at the Vegas gig which was the night after this Irvine show (wasn't it?).
  6. QUOTE (PariahDog @ Aug 4 2010, 09:43 AM)Hi, just wanted to let you know that I will sell this at 15% below my cost, in hopes that it goes to a TRF member. This will also be about 33% below the price of the closest equivalent currently on StubHub. Please PM me for details if you're interested. EDIT: I'll be travelling to Seattle this weekend for the Auburn show and will have limited access to TRF, but will try to check here every couple of days. This is a first for me, two road trips for Rush on back-to-back weekends. Same here. Are we getting too old for this? Nah. It would be cool to meet you at one of the shows.
  7. It's mine!! Yayyyyy and thanks again Mr. 311. I will be in Rush heaven for the next 2 Saturday nights. Life is beautiful.
  8. Great pics! But are the photos in reverse image or is it just Geddy's shirt that's printed backwards? I think the reason you had trouble posting pictures is because when you click on "img" it automatically puts the "http://" part in. Then after putting in the link url, it has http:// in there twice. I always delete the one that's there first and then do a copy & paste of the whole url. Hope that makes sense.
  9. QUOTE (Kenneth @ Jul 30 2010, 03:49 PM)QUOTE (test4eggroll @ Jul 30 2010, 01:10 PM) Geddy's hair is still fairly long. I wish he'd just cut it off already!!! Blasphemy!!!
  10. How far in advance of the show do they let you know if you won the meet & greet? Is it by e-mail?
  11. First thing I noticed was how awesome your picture looks next to the one of Geddy in your avatar. You two would make a good-looking couple. So now I have to switch my favoritism from Ged to Alex; he & I have more of that resemblance thing going on too. Anyhoo, it's a cool story & cool pic you shared.
  12. QUOTE (danielmclark @ Jul 14 2010, 07:10 AM) Scalpers do suck, even the 'sanctioned' ones like Stub Hub. That said... $600 for a pair of front row seats sounds pretty reasonable to me... is it not? That sounds reasonable to me too, wish I could get that here. But the OP said "$600 each for a pair of tickets" so that would be $1,200 - more than I care to pay.
  13. What if Rush were able to start the show and play for an hour but then had to cancel the rest because of torrential downpour and lightening strikes in the area? Would they normally reschedule and, if not, would folks such as Chris be justified to start a class action suit and demand 2/3 of the ticket price and travel expenses? The math could get tricky, eh?
  14. Major bummer! I'm so sorry for you and all who had to walk away Rushless.
  15. What an incredible collection of Rush photos and memorabilia! You just mentioned Van Halen, so I'm wondering what other bands you saw in the 70s. Led Zeppelin, perhaps? And do you need an assistant to help you catalog all this great stuff?
  16. The pictures are far-out, man and your running commentary is hilarious (DAX!!!! YOU BASTARD!!!) This is the best thread ever, thanks so much for giving me lots of smiles. Now if I could only quit worrying about Alex......he looks like he forgot to use sunscreen and may be quite uncomfortable this evening.
  17. QUOTE (hazlnut @ Jun 17 2010, 09:51 AM)just got an email, they are on the way. Same here -- for the Aug. 7th show in Auburn, WA.
  18. I was rooting for the Celtics but with Lakers winning at least I got my good laugh for the day when Artest said "I'd like to thank my psychiatrist". Love that honesty! And true that ^^ defense wins championships.
  19. Thanks GhostWorks, I knew there would be someone here who could read my mind.
