From 1975 to 2002, 27 years, Rush released 16 albums, with tours to support each record. In between that, Neil suffered a major tragedy. I don't question his motives for retiring. He owes us nothing. And I think he's fine with the other guys in the band. In comparison, someone like Tool has released 4 albums in 24 years. Rush were animals the way they released and toured pretty consistently. Old school rock n roll maniacs.

The Beguiled is an under appreciated gem.

Saw it on Saturday. The dialogue sucked. No real plot twists. Meh.

I'll let that one slide. Their intentions were good but it's not a song they play all the time so LaBrie forgetting the lyrics isn't that big of a deal to me. Heart was in the right place. Yeah I get that. But you could also say that perhaps they were jumpin on the tribute bandwagon. I could see DT perhaps not diggin Soundgarden style music. Every other tribute I've seen seems much more heartfelt and personel. Well the fact they forgot the words makes me think this could be the case. It might have been an awkward situation where you are damned if you do, damned if you don't. Why not have the lyrics in front of you? Someone like Labrie, who's no rookie, should know better. It just comes across as amateur hour.

Yeah, I think the suicide angle may have been premature. I'm waiting for a complete report before jumping tonthat conclusion.

Really shocked and sad about this. Huge part of my twenties. Soundgarden was a unique force among those early nineties bands. I'll be playing Soundgarden all day. Damn

Yeah, just f**k that and do something else. So easy right? You clearly know nothing about mental illness and depression.

I think Rush is different than other bands from their era in that they are truly sincere with the music they make. It's not forced , or influenced by management or record companies. The Bostons and Foreigners ran on a formula. I don't think Rush did that. Test for Echo and RTB are my least favorite albums by them, but I wouldn't say they are bad. It's still high quality. Just not up to my standard for their best stuff.

Good late career album. I like the acoustic aspect Lifesons playing. Solid songs.

He's two years older than me and rock music has been amazing this whole time. Yeah, I know I'm being the old guy here. I'm basing my opinion on conversations I've had with him and a few guys he's played with. They just don't know much about the history of rock music in general. Who influenced who, what albums are important etc. I realize that's not true across the board with all dudes his age.. but I just find it strange

My piano playing nephew is 28. He grew up in what I consider the worst era of rock music. So for guys of his generation, the bar is real low. They just don't " get " rock music.

My girlfriend and I watched the first three episodes the other night. Good stuff. Looking forward to more.

Two Underrated Guitarists: Paul Masvidal vs Vito Bratta
Xanadoood replied to fraroc's topic in Music Of The Spheres
Masvidal was in the band Cynic with fellow Aeon Spoke member Sean Reinert, and both of whom played on the Death album Human. Great album. -

I don't classify guys like Eddie and Rhoads as shredders. They were part of bands who wrote SONGS. Vai, satriani and malmsteem arevwhst I consider to be shredders, with the guitar being the main focus of the music.

Xanadoood replied to Xanadoood's topic in Random Samples
Just to clarify, I meant fan forums in general. Not just Rush. -
