QUOTE (theworkingman @ Mar 30 2009, 10:57 PM) QUOTE (HisCounterpart @ Mar 30 2009, 11:37 AM) Much as I love Queen and LZ their live recordings sound not nearly as good as their studio albums to me Live Killers That's all I have to say The recording quality is awful on that one... Although I have to say I have a soft spot for the fast version of WWRY
  2. QUOTE (PuppetKing2112 @ Mar 30 2009, 08:35 PM) QUOTE (HisCounterpart @ Mar 30 2009, 11:37 AM) Much as I love Queen and LZ their live recordings sound not nearly as good as their studio albums to me Really? Because I'd certainly say How the West Was Won is one of the all-time great live albums. Well each to their own, I suppose. Although I have to say How the West Was Won definitely sounds better than The Song Remains The Same. It's a great film but it's impossible for me to listen to it as an audio.
  3. Jethro Tull - A Little Light Music PG - Secret World Live Roger Waters - In The Flesh Zappa - The Best Band You Never Heard in Your Life Much as I love Queen and LZ their live recordings sound not nearly as good as their studio albums to me
  4. TBIII is by far my fav Oldfield effort. Far Above the Clouds.... ethereal!
  5. Marshall McLuhen, casual viewin', head buried in the sand
  6. R-Rated. I might end up owning all albums in the end, but I don't think they will ever be my number one fav band. That spot is firmly and hopelessly occupied.

  8. Watched it last night quite accidentally - bf wanted to watch about 20 mins of it before going to bed. We sat glued to the screen for the whole 2.5 hours. Loved it. Very well done. Didn't find it particularly gory - let's say it had as much gore as it needed.
  9. QUOTE (Prince Sphinc-Tor @ Mar 19 2009, 12:26 PM) My wife watched it all the time and always complianed that no questions were ever answered. Usually for me it's a good thing? but I have to admit those mythology episodes got a bit frustrating to me for that reason, that's why I loved the last episode so much, where it was all brought together, or rather summarised, quite nicely - for those like me who couldn't be bothered working it out in the course of the 9 seasons.. As for the 1998 film, I thought it extremely boring... I hope the second one's better...
  10. Yes! I DID search first! And I only found a couple of topics on the movie sequel (which I've just ordered on DVD). Soooo, I have just made my way through the 61 discs of the box set and what a great time I had! I've loved the X-files since mid 90s I suppose, when I first caught an episode, but I never followed them religiously, I was just happy to catch an episode when I could... That's probably why I developed a slight dislike for the mythology episodes - couldn't make much sense of them not watching them in order (I have to admit though now that I have watched all in order - it doesn't help much - I still prefer the standalone episodes better). At the time I used to watch the X-files for the stories. Now having gone through the whole 9 episodes I was for the first time able to savour the delicious Mulder/Scully sexual tension and.... other nice things... So what did you watch the X-files for? Mulder? Scully? Monsters? Alien mythology? Any favourite episodes/monsters? Mmmm the flukeman... Favourite secondary characters? Mmm developed a thing for Skinner... Krycek. Love or hate? Doggett. Love or hate? Mythology or standalone episodes? BTW, a friend of mine who is an X-Files fan but knows nothing about Rush upon me showing her a pic of Geddy pointed out that he looked a lot like Langly of the Lonely Gunmen. Which made it ever so much sadder for me to watch the episode in which the Lonely Gunmen perished...
  11. So sad.. I liked her films.. She reminded me of someone I knew..
  12. QUOTE (Jaye @ Mar 17 2009, 10:24 PM) Mike is my fave, but Tony is a close 2nd. Steve is cute too. My present day Genesis preferences are as follows: Phil Peter Steve Tony Mike There were times when Tony was No.1. I dunno what happened. I just don't find him sexy anymore. Handsome yes, but not sexy((( Now him and Phil traded places on my list. I read that Phil once topped the list of the sexiest men based on a survey conducted among Scottish women. Maybe living in Scotland has influenced me! But Mike stayed where he was - last, I'm afraid.
  13. Your Mike fetish bewilders me)))) Stick with Tony)))) Or how about Steve? http://www.rocklibrary.com/images/EntityImages/1700/1704/steve%20hackett%20promo%20charisma%20RRL%20ready.jpg
  14. QUOTE (OriginalFan @ Mar 17 2009, 05:50 PM) Another QUOTE (edgyspice @ Sep 2 2008, 10:50 PM) Fripp looks pissed off in this one, hahaha. Fripp is always pissed off. It's his natural state of mind
  15. QUOTE (Janie @ Mar 15 2009, 12:38 AM) QUOTE (Jaye @ Mar 14 2009, 04:09 PM) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v250/Jett_Moonwing/Geddy673.jpg Geddy keepin' the rawk! OMG! Oh wow. Oh... wow. Wait, ImaAlexFanGirlImaAlexFanGirlImaAlexFanGirlImaAlexFanGirl. Must... stop... staring... at Geddy. In a few minutes. This picture is phenomenal. This picture alone could tempt me over to the Geddy side. It is indeed AMAZING. Thanks for that, Jaye.
  16. Trainspotting is amazing. So powerful. They showed it to us at school I remember, for educational purposes))))
  17. I have always been sooo fraidy, could never watch a horror film all the way through without averting my eyes and walking out of the room (tried to watch a film at a cinema which wasn't even that scary? but had one moment that made me jump to the ceiling - never again am I watching creepy stuff at a cinema - you've got nowhere to hide!! )))). I hate it when they build the fear up and then some nasty thing jumps out at you. Boo! God, I hate that. But that doesn't include gory/torture/cannibal films. I quite enjoy that kinda stuff - liked The Hills Have Eyes, and Hannibal (which of course in in a different category altogether but can be disturbing to people). Hostel I quite enjoyed as well, although it was slightly unnerving, but not because of the torture itself - it's one thing when you got mutants and ghosts, but it's different when people do things to people... For no reason. That's scary. But that's scary when you contemplate it, not when you watch it, so it didn't stop me from actually watching the film. One film I remember I couldn't watch till the end was the Japanese version of The Grudge. Not even averting my eyes and asking my bf to tell me what was happening helped! The Hollywood version is not remotely as scary. I wonder what the Japanese version of the Ring is like. The Hollywood one is watchable for me, i. e. not that scary))). Another scary film I remember gave me bad nightmares was a Spanish horror film called The Baby's Room (or the Nursery Room) about a young couple discovering a ghost through baby monioring system. Creepy stuff.
  18. QUOTE (Jaye @ Mar 6 2009, 09:11 PM) QUOTE (HisCounterpart @ Mar 6 2009, 04:03 PM)I have to say that guy who sang on Genesis Calling All stations - something Wilson. Rob? Blaaaaand. Bland bland bland. And dead annoying. Irritates the hell out of me. Ray Wilson. I wouldn't say he's a bad singer though. I've only heard the song Congo, but I like it quite a lot. Congo is catchy enough. But its good qualities have nothing to do with the vocals. It would benefit from a more original vocalist. I am not saying he can't sing. All people menationed in this thread can sing))) We're just talking about the irritating qualities of a vocals. Ray (that's it!) Wilson has this Jamesblunty, Ronankeatingy boybandy blandness with pretence to emotion in his vocals that I find extremely irritating... I am a big fan of instnatly recognisable vocals, those with character, like Geddy or Jon Anderson or even Dan McCafferty (the guy Axl Rose based his screeching on, but I prefer the original)))
  19. I have to go for Bob Dylan. Oh and if we leave all the modern crappy "rock" scene like Coldplay and Snow Patrol, I have to say that guy who sang on Genesis Calling All stations - something Wilson. Rob? Blaaaaand. Bland bland bland. And dead annoying. Irritates the hell out of me. As for gems like Pantera and alike, I don't even consider them voices as such
  20. I dunno if I'll be spelling out common knowledge but contrary to what some ppl might think looks are ALMOST completely irrelevant to whether someone has sex or not. It's all about psychology. I thought I'd be an 32 year old virgin one day but I also knew it had nothing to do with my looks. Fortunately, I only managed to be 21 year old virgin
  21. On the topic of x-rated fan fiction.(or non x-rated for that matter - there's no real difference, it's just making things up) I say let them have their fun. It's not hurting anybody. And if in your opinion it's garbage (which is fair enough) just steer clear of it, but don't deny others their bit of fun and their status of fandom by castigating them. IMO there's absolutely no disrespect to artists in writing fan fiction about them. It's a natural expression (or venting if you like) of somewhat over-zealous fandom. Quite harmless. WAY better than stalking for example. I'm sure Neil would prefer you to write fan fiction about him in the comfort of your own home than chase him for an autograph, eh?
  22. QUOTE (Janie @ Feb 24 2009, 02:19 PM) Oh, and just to throw it out there, Alex is actually the good-looking one. Geddy's the cute one. Little oversight there. What's Neil's status then? Gorgeous? Hello, Mishimon
  23. QUOTE (baxtrice @ Feb 24 2009, 05:49 AM) http://i609.photobucket.com/albums/tt179/faye_faye09/lolrush/lol_neil_1.jpg Love it!
  24. QUOTE (PanaceaFish @ Feb 22 2009, 06:37 AM) Glad ya liked them!! Sis loaned me her copy of ATWAS, so I scanned some pix! http://i456.photobucket.com/albums/qq287/PanaceaFish/Geddy%20Lee%20Pix/ATWASGeddy4.jpg They didn't turn out as good as I had hoped, cos the scanner's not that good... That one's great!
  25. Don't look at me I'm not your kind - I'm Rael!
