  1. Xanadu in it's entirety followed very closely by A Farewell to Kings - so preferably both!
  2. Open Secrets and Cut To The Chase would definitely do it for me! Available Light would be good too.
  3. QUOTE (s_b_g @ May 17 2012, 01:59 PM)quite simply there is no excuse i love rush and given i get to see them rarely i am willing to shell out crazy money to see them. but anybody trying to justify the ludicrous ticket prices and scalping of ticket agencies to be in the "front rows" cuts no ice with me give me standing freesale anytime - it worked fine for me when i saw them in the 70's and 80's and if you are so old that you can't hack that and want a seat now well .. hell mend you you can have the seats at the back and sides. no seats = no scalping and no pricing structures suited for those with the money d Once again I'm in complete agreement with you! Have to say I am very surprised there aren't more people on this forum who see it that way.
  4. Hearing anything from this album live would make me happy but Open Secrets would be my top choice with Prime Mover and Lock And Key close behind (imagine how awesome the latter would be with an orchestra!)
  5. La Villa Stangiato (with the classical guitar intro, NOT the polka one!) The Spirit Of Radio In The Mood Just about the ultimate encore I think!
  6. QUOTE (s_b_g @ May 17 2012, 02:09 PM)loving a band should never be about how much money you have. it was never like that when i was growing up .. if you were wanting tickets for a seated venue you kipped out overnight to buy them .. a great social leveller. if it was a non seated venue - all the better - we all bought our tickets and took our chance on the day. vip etc just stinks in my mind - fans should be fans - and there are plenty of bands i love who don't go this route d Couldn't agree with you more!
  7. Seems that opinions on the subject are quite polarised judging by the reaction from my thread! I've already made mine clear (see the thread) but what do you think? Note that the question applies to the floor area only and is also about Rush specifically (preferences might be different with other bands).
  8. QUOTE (SchemingDemon @ May 17 2012, 05:49 PM)QUOTE (CrossedSignals @ May 17 2012, 12:39 PM) http://www.therushforum.com/index.php?showtopic=73871 This No need for another thread, join our game! Umm how is that the same? This thread has each person making a setlist of their own, not copying the setlist of the person above them and changing one song as it is in the game. Anyways, my choices would be: Finding My Way Fly By Night Bastille Day 2112 (Overture/ The Temples Of Syrinx/ Grand Finale) Xanadu La Villa Strangiato Jacob's Ladder YYZ The Analog Kid The Enemy Within Manhattan Project Open Secrets Available Light (Changed my mind about that one - would rather hear it over Scars after all!) Where's My Thing Cut To The Chase Limbo Earthshine Armor And Sword Caravan (My favourite out of what has been released from CA so far)
  9. Anyone else tried the Live Nation presale? It took me to Ticketmaster and then said "Tickets are currently not available online". Way ta go Live Nation
  10. I feel a rant coming on... Why are the majority of Rush's shows all seated? I mean SERIOUSLY, who in the front blocks actually sits down in a Rush show?? You can see it on the Cleveland DVD there is NO ONE sitting in any of the front sections. Would it be so difficult to put out general admission standing tickets for the floor area (like for the vast majority of rock gigs I've been to)? That way the earlier you get to the venue the better place you'll have - simple! The whole system of booking seats online and it being left pretty much to a combination of luck and who has the fastest server annoys me to no end. I really think we as fans deserve better than that! Apologies for the bitter tone - I know I'm not going to be winning any awards for positivity here, but I feel it has to be said. Imo if you want to sit down at the front row of a Rush show, you've come to the wrong gig!
  11. Wow you're right! Never noticed it before as it's so low in the mix. Sounds like it's Geddy talking. No idea what he could be saying though
  12. Though I am a drummer, I have to say I find it's Geddy that inspires me the most of the three. But they're all legends so what does it matter really
  13. Presto's never been a big favourite of mine as an overall album but I freakin LOVE Scars! Such an atmospheric song and I for one wish Rush had explored that style of electronic music to a greater extent, in fact I wish they still would! The live version kicks ass even more! Note how even though the song is very electronic, Alex's playing still really shines through. I say bring this one back for the CA tour!
  14. Available Light would be pretty cool to hear (providing Geddy could do it justice vocally). But if they were to play something from Presto, I'd rather hear Scars. Anyone else want to see that one come out the vaults?
  15. Where's My Thing for sure! Really can't understand why it was dropped so quickly - especially as on the video bootlegs from the RTB tour, the band seem to be having an absolute blast playing it. I'd also be happy to see Limbo being brought back. And please, no more medleys like R30 Imo the band should either play those old songs properly or not play them at all.
  16. QUOTE (GangsterOnBoats @ May 8 2012, 02:28 PM)Surprisingly, part of me wants to vote for La Villa (even though I voted for Tom Sawyer) just because they aren't capable of doing it justice anymore. They really are playing it quite awfully and profaning the name of the original. Whhaaa??? You can't be serious. As far as I can tell it's sounding as great as it ever has done. Unless you were referring to the polka intro - hopefully they'll leave that out if they play La Villa again (which I hope they'll do). My choice would be Working Man simply because it's my least favourite song out of these. I'd also much rather hear Finding My Way/In the Mood as an encore. Freewill, Red Barchetta and Subdivisions have also had their day I feel. They're kinda staples but I wouldn't miss them the same way as I'd miss YYZ, Limelight and TSOR - now those songs should NEVER be dropped!
  17. QUOTE (likeclockwork @ May 2 2012, 09:46 PM)The Garden is one of the best and most inspired pieces of music I've heard from the band in many years. It's very much a fitting album closer and sounds totally like the final chapter in a concept story. It has a theatrical feel. From that description, I'm thinking maybe something vaguely along the lines of Available Light. Would I be somewhat right in saying that? There's no doubt that likeclockwork is legit - he/she quoted the first line of HF before it was released and also knew the date the song was going to be premiered when no one else did. Gotta say judging from the descriptions coming from likeclockwork, it's sounding promising
  18. Out of these, I voted not enough keyboards. Imo the keyboards were an essential part of the band's best work - often almost as essential as the guitars as they added so much atmosphere. I think that element has been missing to some extent from Presto onwards and I REALLY hope it makes a comeback on Clockwork Angels, though admittedly the songs released so far show little evidence of it. A lot of people here seem to believe that heaviness and ballsyness are everything but they seem to forget that the work Rush released in the late 70s/early 80s (considered by the majority to be their peak era) was really not that heavy. Certainly nowhere near as heavy as much of Counterparts and most of Vapor Trails - neither of those albums are rated as highly as Moving Pictures etc. round here, despite their heaviness. I see very little correlation between heaviness and good song writing - to me a good song is a good song regardless of how heavy it is. Btw if there was an option for lack of decent vocal melodies, that's what I would have voted for.
  19. Close call between The Analog Kid and The Weapon with the former just winning for me. I think the fact that The Analog Kid is winning by such a landslide just goes to show that a live show with Signals in it's entirety would be an unwise move for the band. And as already pointed out, this is the Clockwork Angels tour NOT the Signals 30th Anniversary Tour. Why would they want to take the spotlight off the new album? The whole rumor seems pretty absurd to me...
  20. Definitely Presto. I always liked it as a song but seeing it live really took it to another level for me. It's now my second favourite song on Presto after The Pass. In fact I think all of the songs from Presto/RTB that were played live sounded much better live than on the studio versions. Just shows how much better those albums could have been with decent production...
