  1. Some sort of Bender/Allison combo. Depended on whether I was being more introverted or extroverted that day.
  2. I've heard that American Black Sabbath remark before. I don't get it. They're both cool, but totally different. It's like comparing, I dunno, say, Grand Funk Railroad and Rush. Kind of a weirdo band, so yeah, they got my attention. They played one of the casinos here, but there was only a handful of tickets. $200, I think. Must have been the VIP seats or something, huh? Kept me from going.
  3. ...Ever feel like you've dropped the ball on ignoring a certain band? I'm beginning to feel that way about Yes. I bought a copy of 90125 on tape in highschool. Pretty cool, OK. Not Earth-shattering, though I wonder what I'd think of it now. Haven't heard it in a couple of decades. I didn't listen to anything further, or previous. Part of it is from getting into some seriously heavy metal for awhile, so I wasn't gonna be bothered with a Yes album... Hell, I didn't even listen to rush for awhile back then. Y'know, the synth stuff. I'm still catching up on that. Sooo... I'm in a band and the guitar player tells me he can't beleive I'm a bass player and don't know about Yes. My wife tells me She doesn't know why Id love Rush so much and not be into Yes. Bought a copy of Classic Yes on vinyl. Wow. These are a loose collection of songs, imagine what an album sounds like. This'll keep me busy for awhile. The record shop has a copy of Tales Of Topographic Oceans... any good? I do have a good attention span for long songs and thematic albums. Maybe I've totally missed something here, folks.
  4. I don't know anything about these guys, but then I'm just finding out about Yes...
  5. I guess it was mostly the vocals I didn't like... I had a friend back then who played the album NONSTOP. If you got into his car that summer, that's what you were gonna hear. Another reason I didn't like the '80's.
  6. He had a rough go of it the last couple of years. He deserved better. I'll miss that hearty guffaw of a laugh. RIP
  7. Roll the Bones. Why are we here? Because we're here.
  8. Oh, Rapture! In general, New Wave and skinny tie music, NO. It was part of the ugliness of the '80's. However, Blondie (and Debbie Harry... ), yes. They're Atomic.
  9. QUOTE (Jack Aubrey @ Jun 10 2009, 12:16 PM) QUOTE Walt Kowalski: Take these three items, some WD-40, a vice grip, and a roll of duct tape. Any man worth his salt can fix almost any problem with this stuff alone. Man law #1. Yup. Just bought it last night and watched it for the first time. Eastwood is losing nothing with age. Love the barber shop scene with the kid...
  10. Neil Purt is the best drummer ever! And I can really get into his lyrics! Neil Purt! Neil Purt! Neil Purt! YOU'RE overrated, dudes!!!
  11. Thanks for posting this! I knew which episode it was instantly from the title. I'd forgotten about it.
  12. My sister ruined my Lite Brite. Pushed the pegs into every hole until all the sheets were filled. Ruined my Slinky, too. Pulled on it and sprung it. Anyone remember something called a Merlin? It looked kinda like an early cell phone and was red.
  13. I'm tired. There's a piece of fuzz on the floor.

That opening on "Fast As A Shark" changed my life as a young rocker back in 1983. I was at home on a Saturday afternoon cleaning my room blasting the local radio high school station called KVHS. They were great, playing all the metal and hard rock all the time. Anyway I heard that opening and I paused for a second and listened. Then UDO comes in like a bat out of hell and that frigging insane double kick and those killer guitars blew my mind. I hopped on my bike right after I heard that song and went straight to my local record store called "The Record Exchange" and picked up "Restless And Wild" on vinyl. I drove my parents insane that night. I must have played that record 4 times in a row before going to bed. Love, "FLASH ROCKIN' MAN" The first half of the '80's were a great time to be a metalhead. You or one of your buddies would bring in the newest cassette to electronics class and say "Dude, check this s**t out !" Pop it into a Walkman or a ghetto blaster and blow your brains out. I was introduced to a few bands this way in that class. Including Accept. And you just had to love that name, Udo Dirkschneider.
  15. Hmmm, more fun with lists... OK Black Sabbath Ozzy Osbourne Black Label Society Soundgarden The Melvins Megadeth Motorhead Pentagram Tool Judas Priest Faith No More Mr. Bungle The Sword Monster Magnet Tenacious D Have fun with that one...

My buddy bought this and I listened to it in his Firebird. No go. These guys were spent. And I defended a couple songs from Asylum. Oh well, back to Guns N Roses... You're on the 'cruise strip' or yer cruisin' the strip?...Man, have you gotten so old that you've forgotten the old lingo? lol. Maybe... I'd hit the boulevard in my '70 Nova looking for a race. That's what I meant. Listening to tunes most of the time.

  19. QUOTE (lerxt1990 @ May 9 2009, 11:22 PM) Yes - we were there when VH was the NEW thing, it was exciting, it was different. Thats what was so different. But... One has to admit that when 5150 came out, Eddies guitar could kill small animals - there was some good stuff there. But, yes, different... Hit the nail on the head there. How many Old Rush fans are there that don't like newer stuff, for example? 1984 encapsulated my senior year pretty well (I actually got in trouble for pulling the "I don't feel tardy" stunt on a teacher.) Gotta admit I played OU812 in my Chevelle the summer of '88 til' it was ruined... It's just that the albums after that were kinda lacking. Every band goes into a slump.
  20. Yeah, Parasite was skull-rattling on this one, wasn't it? And I thought the 1975 picture of Beavis and Butthead on the back was funny.
  21. QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Apr 26 2009, 05:57 PM) QUOTE (Steevo @ Apr 26 2009, 05:18 PM) QUOTE (nappy2112 @ Apr 27 2009, 12:46 AM)hate them both..........next. Know nuttin about The Elder. Dont bother going past Unmasked either, it's all shite after that. That's simply not true... I could vouch for a few tunes off of Lick It Up and Asylum...
  22. Hmmm... sounds like a KISS album I might actually like. I've never even seen a copy of The Elder. I have maybe a half dozen of their albums. It'll be interesting to see your take on their first album.. I like that one.
  23. Well... did anyone see the finale? I don't quite know what to make of it. It kinda seemed like something from a Red Dwarf episode. Huh.
