  1. You mean you look like an old man so you would look ridiculous in them? I've been told I look like a typical 50 something male so wearing Chucks would make it appear I would be trying to hard to hold on to my youth. Frankly, I don't care what people wear but if you're well into middle age and look like it, I'm going to laugh under my breath if you're wearing Chuck Taylors or have purple hair or are wearing a halter top or have numerous piercings or any number of other things. And if you're a woman of a certain age and are wearing those with a dress or skirt, I may laugh out loud. Roll the bones! What kind of shoes do you typically wear? At work I wear a couple of different pairs of running type shoes and outside of there, I wear similar ones or lace up casual shoes and the occasional boot. Thanks, I was just wondering. I'm not a shoe fetishist so don't worry about that! :D Personally, I like Merrells.
  2. I've actually never owned any Chucks but I was the first one at my high school to wear checkerboard Vans! :D

  4. Third pic from the top are the sub & diver I was talking about in my last post! Thanks for posting it, ORF-man!
  5. Little plastic snap-together cars, divers with a submarine (the diver hooked to the sub, they would descend together and when they hit bottom the diver would detach and the sub would ascend back up to the surface). Tiny telescopes, compasses, I even remember a styrofoam kite that came in a box of Lucky Charms. You put it together and tied to a spool of thread and it worked great, even in light breezes.
  6. Only The Brave. Everyone should see it.
  7. Every time I see Gal Gadot smile I fall in love a little bit.
  8. I bet you involuntarily orgasm when you go to that site! I simply happen to be a knife collector who appreciates a quality blade. I do not sexually fetishize them and personally find such an idea revolting. Edited to add: Please accept my sincere apologies if you were joking, I've been accused of sexually fetishizing weapons too many times on this board before and knee-jerked, it just bugs the crap out of me when folks do that. I WAS joking, because I own 4 handguns, two rifles and get a lot of that same kind of teasing myself. of course there ARE people who are weird like that, but I hope to NEVER MEET THEM! I can appreciate the collecting of almost anything, for asthetics and such. Brother, I feel like a complete and utter heel. Once again, I humbly apologize. Tell you what, anyone ever gives you crap about weapons ever again, shoot me a message and we'll school 'em together! I've got your 6! No pun intended? I work on a federal installation where they don't legally allow employees or visitors to carry knives or guns but I carry a Spyderco Chaparral (it's thin and only has a 2 13/16 inch blade) anyway. I also have a small 4Sevens light that has a couple of lumen options up to 1020. In the car, I have 2 flashlights, also from 4Sevens, 1 is small and if I need to find something under a seat or look under the hood or in the trunk, and the other is a 2000 lumen monster for defensive purposes. For CC purposes, I have a Taurus Millennium G2 in .40 S&W. I'd like to sell that and get a Smith&Wesson M&P Shield in .45 ACP, but it's such a pita to legally sell a gun these days. Have you seen where some folks have had trouble with Milleniums going when they're shaken or jarred? There was a big hue and a cry about it some three or four years ago. P.S. No, no pun intended, I always say that. I am familiar with the problems and there was a recall and a class action suit but I have a G2 which supposedly doesn't have those problems. I haven't had any issues with it, at least not like that. Also, 4Sevens either went out of business or was sold in December. The owner posted a video that seemed to indicate he sold the company, but I can't find anything else about it. An update To our friends and customers,... I am pleased to announce that Prometheus Lights has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the Foursevens brand and assets. The last few years have been an incredible journey for Foursevens (est. 2008), and Prometheus Lights (est. 2011). I’d like to thank David Chow, founder of Foursevens, for building an incredible company and strong brand in the marketplace. It is a humbling opportunity to build upon his great work and continue the Foursevens legacy. We both started years ago with the belief that innovative ideas and hard work could transform the humble flashlight into a powerful tool of the modern age. I want to assure our community that Prometheus Lights will remain focused on leading the market and fulfilling this mission. I met David back in 2012 and I have long admired Foursevens industry leadership, dedication to excellence, and customer-focused solutions while also contributing to a great community of enthusiasts. Some changes are in the pipeline, though I want to assure you that Foursevens will resemble the tried and true Foursevens that you have grown to love. We now have more resources to continue building products that delight our customers and deliver innovation for years to come. We are excited to share more about what we will be working on in the coming months. The possibilities are unlimited, and we are just getting started…stay tuned! Onward, upward, and thanks for your support, Jason Hui / founder, maker & owner Prometheus Lights The day before to posted this, I bought three Gold Armor Tactical Flashlights for use to find the miniscule parts I sometimes drop into the carpet in front of my chair so I can finish my models! I can't see ever needing another flashlight, these are so GREAT! Sorry, I would have tried your stuff before I bought had I known! Do you wear a headlamp when working on your models? If so, what kind? I like Petzl.
  9. Gotham By Gaslight, a really good "what if?" Batman story with a super-cool twist.
  10. My Aunt saw the Monkees & Hendrix when they came to NC. She says at the time she couldn't really get into Hendrix as she'd never heard music like that before and it was odd to her ears. However in retrospect she says that Hendrix was amazing and the Monkees were "merely okay".
  11. Just a heads-up. veteran's cards are now yours for the asking from the VA. You'll be able to get on your local bases and stuff like that. I look forward to shopping at the PX and comissary and saving some money.
  12. I remember the first time I heard that epic solo on "When The Heart Rules The Mind". It gave me chills and made me want to take up the guitar.
  13. Agreed on all counts and a big "me too!" regarding having those albums in heavy rotation back then!
  14. Oh God, mando-fun. Ugh. Not talking about the album, it's a military thing: "There will be a morale party this upcoming Saturday from 1400- 1800. All personnel not actually on duty are expected to attend." That kind of thing.
  15. I have relatives who live in Summerville, very near the Colonial Dorchester State Historic Site. That's about 5 miles away from me.
  16. 211 miles. Born in Greensboro, NC, live in Summervlle, SC.
  17. Earl, I'm thinking your member title should be "The college of musical knowledge"! :D
  18. Jack I didn't see you chime in with your opinion on Last Jedi. What was your grade? That The Biography Of Jar Jar Binks would have been a better concept. tough crowd. I loved Last Jedi but am finding Rogue One to be more tedious every time I watch it, which I think has been 4 viewings so far. Opinions are like a-holes I guess :) :D It'd be a boring old world if we all liked the same stuff.

  20. The greatest twist ending in the history of Hollywood.
  21. :D well, just becaue my EDC is mostly survival-related doesn't mean I expect everyone else to do the same. In fact, you carry survival gear and don't even realize it. Take your phone. If you're ever stranded and your phone goes dead you'd probably think it would be useless. The screen is highly reflective and could be used to signal a pasing plane, boat, or vehicle. Carefully smash it with a rock and remove the battery and then pierce the battery with a knife. In about five seconds it will combust and burn hot enough and long enough to gate a fire going. Also, remove the circuit board and shape and sharpen it on a rock and you've got a spear or arrowhead. Take your wallet and cut the biggest diamond-shaped pisece you can from the outer part. Use the wire from your ear pods and you can rig a sling (the rock-throwing kind) for hunting small game. There are also lots of survival manuals apps that are completely free. Download one or two and read a little every now and then when you're bored. He can’t do a lot of that as he already listed that he doesn’t EDC a knife Then he should start. Every man worth his salt should EDC at least a small knife. Go order one of those Christy knives I talked about on page 2.
  22. I'd like to make one of the things I just told Disk everyone's "homework". Like I said, there are a lot of free survival manual apps available for download. Everybody go and get one on your phone or tablet and read it every now and then when you're bored. The best free one is the US Army survival manual, so get that one.
