  1. It's actually one of my fav '80s era Rush albums but yes, that dated echo-y everything-drenched-in-reverb sound... I'd love to hear a modern sounding remix from the master tapes. Lose the reverb and dry out the sound a bit.
  2. I think a lot of the lesser songs on RTB would've sounded a LOT better if Alex wasn't using that damn tinny single coil echo-ey guitar sound. It's my least fav Alex album of all. Not so much what he's playing but the tone and how Rupert Hine shoved it back in the mix. Ironically years later he would overdo it the other way going overboard with thick too loud too aggressive distorted wall of noise tones on Vapor Trails
  3. Vapor Trails for both good and bad reasons
  4. I dunno. I really enjoy the songs I mentioned but God Almighty does that album lack power or a sonic edge like a lot of the other records by other bands at that time. Thankfully they corrected course on Counterparts. I think RTB is even more wimpy sounding than HYF or Presto lol
  5. If RTB consisted only of Dreamline, Bravado, RTB, WMT? & Ghost it would be one of their best albums ever songwriting-wise. But unfortunately the other half of the record is mediocre at best. Rupert Hine's wimpy soft as a marshmallow production was insult to injury.
  6. Actually I was wrong..not a missing lyric but a very odd transition not on the original release going into the second verse. It sounds terrible actually. And it is an obvious mistake to my ears. Other than that I love the Sectors remaster of this record. More bottom end, the string section in Mission sounds glorious and some cool little guitar blasts from Alex on High Water. Explain how and when...I've listened to the sector HYF a bunch of times and never picked up on this
  7. There's a subtle difference between original and newer releases of the Exit video. The older one has audio of Geddy saying "Thank you very much...goodnight!" at the end while the newer releases have "Thank you very much Montreal! Good night!" Don't know why someone felt the need to alter it but whatever

    Vapor Trails

I'd like VT a lot more if they shaved at least 3 or 4 of the weaker songs off it. Rush's last three studio albums were all in dire need of trimming and overlong with unnecessary weaker material just to fill up space
  9. I totally agree with what one of you said about the Snakes cover. The inside photo absolutely should've been the cover photo instead of that butt ugly one they went with which looks like somebody ate a bunch of Chef Boyardee and then threw it up
  10. What lyric is missing on the sectors TSS?
  11. But Geddy once also named HYF as a "dark horse" record meaning it was overlooked and underrated in one of the many books about the band. I don't think he dislikes it overall
  12. I've wondered that too. Also on a similar note why only one video for RTB. Dreamline seemed like a no-brainer to promote the single and MTV was still relevant
  13. My skip button use increased exponentially every album starting with Test For Echo onwards. I can honestly say I've never listened to any of the last 3 or 4 Rush albums start to end. I just can't do it, its too much like work
  14. The lyrics energy and passion of Vapor Trails with the much better quality sound of Snakes and toss in one of the better instrumentals and we could've had one hell of an album instead of two very flawed ones
  15. Kid Gloves
  16. Lyrically & production wise, Everyday Glory sounds really out of place on that album. Like a leftover from the RTB sessions. And I like that song. It just doesn't go with the theme of the rest of the record and the bass is noticeably louder than the other songs and Alex's guitar is drenched in Presto/RTB Rupert Hine era reverb
  17. The original Mercury issue, the 1997 remaster or 2013 sector 2 remaster? They all sound similar. I enjoy most of the songs (insert standard issue Rush fan joke about Tai Shan) but God, that thick layer of '80s reverb over the guitars/drums/vocals which make it sound like cardboard as one person here put it
  18. I'm 99% sure the extra unused footage from the ESL/GUP/ASOH concert shoots were lost destroyed or tossed out decades ago
  19. Dreamline was always a great opener
  20. I love Neil's drum sound on FBN. Some here complained that they sound like cardboard but I've always liked them on that album. Who doesn't want to air drum like a spaz during Best I Can & Beneath Between Behind?
  21. Feedback :I *NEVER* listen to this CD and only have it because I'm a fan. I forget it even exists most of the time Snakes:Rush decides to go folk rock fusion and (except for Far Cry) end up boring their fans to tears Clockwork: Too long too dense too chaotic poor mix and Geddy can't sing well anymore
  22. Test For Echo is heavier than Vapor Trails? Those need to be switched around
  23. I enjoy bits and pieces and random moments from CA but simply can't listen to it start to finish. Its too long, loud, dense, & chaotic plus I can't understand half of what Geddy is singing
  24. Faithless. Unimaginative music and Neil's lyrics just rehash what he's already said before on the subject. BU2B is the same. The heavy main riff is so generic sounding like they composed it in ten minutes flat
