QUOTE (GeddyRulz @ Jul 27 2011, 12:50 PM) Survivor "I Can't Hold Back" There's a story in my eyes Turn the pages of desire Now it's time to trade those dreams For the rush of passion's fire I can feel you tremble when we touch And I feel the hand of fate Reaching out to both of us I've been holding back the night I've been searching for a clue from you I'm gonna try with all my might To make this story line come true Can ya feel me tremble when we touch Can ya feel the hand of fate Reaching out to both of us This love affair can't wait I can't hold back, I'm on the edge (I can't hold back) Your voice explodes inside my head I can't hold back, I won't back down Girl it's too late to turn back now Another shooting star goes by And in the night the silence speaks to you and I And now the time has come at last Don't let the moment run too fast I can feel you tremble when we touch And I feel the hand of fate reaching out to both of us There's a story in my eyes, turn the pages of desire Now it's time to trade those dreams For the rush of passion's fire I can't hold back, I'm on the edge (I can't hold back) Your voice explodes inside my head I can't hold back, I won't back down Girl it's too late to turn back now Oh No! Please don't do that again! Those lyrics looked familiar so I looked up Survivor on Spotify.. I remember them but I had completely forgotten how many hits this band had.. now I can't seem to stop listening, cause I'm back in high school!!! ARRRRGGGHHH!!

I saw the U2 360 Tour last night in Pittsburgh. Here is my review. WOW! That was FRACKING AWESOME! That's about all I got to say. Here's a few pics of the crazy stage http://bit.ly/pizBIy (Also one random shot of the Mr. Rodgers statue that is in riverfront park by Heinz field.)

QUOTE (Unattractive Truth @ Jul 24 2011, 09:14 PM) QUOTE (MCM @ Jul 24 2011, 06:51 PM) I see U2 on Tuesday, feeling a little indifferent about it, hopefully it will be better than I expect and Bono won't preach too much. Have you ever seen U2? Whatever you may think of them or their music, they put on one hell of a live show. You'll definitely get your money's worth. Enjoy! Anyway, I had hoped my next concert would be Steven Wilson, but so far, nothing west of Chicago. Fingers crossed. I've never see them, but I'm sure it will be very good and now that I pulled out the discs we used to listen to in college I'm a little more excited about it than I was. We were big fans back in the day, but I didn't keep up with them and follow them like I do some others. They've been over at Heinz field building the stage since the weekend, you can see it from some of the offices and it's huge. I think Steven Wilson's schedule got kind of messed up when his dad passed away a few months ago, I'm sure he'll make it to CA eventually.

Don't forget that soda is also high in sodium.. just as bad as the sugar depending on any other health issues you might have.

QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Jul 7 2011, 09:25 PM) QUOTE (MCM @ Jul 7 2011, 06:49 PM) I have to pick the first one, it's just pure magic, every second of it.. although the lyrics for Don't Look Back are fantastic. I remember waiting in line at at National Record Mart in Erie for Third Stage back in the day. I saw Boston once many years ago, it was so long ago I don't really remember much about it, that makes me sad. I saw them a few years ago with Michael Sweet and "that other guy", it wasn't Delp's voice but it was a very good show. Michael Sweet is a true showman. That aside, that guitar sound of Scholz has not changed one bit over the years. Despite all the new players and the lack of Brad Delp, that guitar sound was exactly the same, and as good as it was in 1976. For what it's worth, Third State was worth waiting in line for. I own the other two, I've listened to one of them once or twice and the last one I haven't even opened yet even tho I've had it for years. LOL MCM! You have a sealed copy of "Corporate America!" You might as well just keep it sealed. I've done that too man. Hell I buy doubles of Japanese pressings just so I can open one and keep one sealed. That will be my reason then, it's so good I'm keeping it unopened cause someday I'll sell it on ebay for thousands of dollars to finance a Rush road trip...

QUOTE (01GT Eibach @ Jul 5 2011, 07:48 PM) Living in Pittsburgh, PA, I saw Rush twice on this tour (Pitt & Cleveland). But I ended up getting a work promotion that moved me to Scottsdale, AZ in May. Best of all, this allowed me to catch Rush for a THIRD time by catching the Phoenix show. Here is my overview ... 1) Ridiculously hot -- Does this venue typically have AC issues?? And $7 for a soda for the final temperate insult. 2) Geddy clearly said that Clockwork Angels "hoped to be out by the end of the year". 3) Geddy's voice was the most strained in the Phoenix gig compared to Pittsburgh and Cleveland shows I saw earlier. The Cleveland show was (easily) the best of the three shows, with Geddy's voice the tightest and overall higher energy performance by the band. No surprise there as it was the DVD filming. 4) Phoenix was also the most expensive. Because I got tickets so late I had to use a ticket service. I paid $240 (for a pair) including all fees, but tickets were excellent -- lower bowl right next to Geddy. Last I checked, that is why I go to work ... to earn money to buy Rush tickets. 5) Overall ... they were awesome. It was my boys. I also live in Pittsburgh and saw both of those shows, the Cleveland one was far superior to the Pittsburgh show from 2010. I also saw the Hershey show which was most excellent. I didn't see the Phoenix show, but did see the Vegas show, it seems as if they really did get better as the tour went on. They just don't seem to tire out.

QUOTE (Phantom @ Jul 4 2011, 06:56 PM) love the solo... but... Is it just me, or does anyone else notice that on the electronic kit, I don't hear any sound when Neil hits his cymbals... Thought I noticed the same thing in Cleveland... Hey Phantom! How are you? Hope all is well.

They are both so adorable in this picture. I'm particularly fond of Geddy, but Alex can stop by any time!! Great picture...I haven't checked Arrowsmith's photos for a bit. Guess I'm missing out on some great pictures! (Not to mention the sausage fest going on under those guitars. ) Speaking of sausage fest... that's an excellent reason to bring back the robes.. the longer robe would cover the sausage fest, thus making it less distracting for us when we're in the front rows.. Just saying.

QUOTE (Presto-digitation @ Jun 28 2011, 07:48 AM) QUOTE (RUSHHEAD666 @ Jun 27 2011, 11:23 PM) QUOTE (1 of the 7 @ Jun 27 2011, 09:08 PM) I like everything I've ever heard by them, and I have a friend who was into them, so he played me more than just what they had on the radio. I even like Mr. Roboto I went to see them last summer and enjoyed the show. I don't have any of their albums myself, though. I love "Heavy Metal Poisoning!" "Kilroy Was Here" is a very underrated record. However I must say that "Edge Of The Century" is a piece of shite. Glad Tommy Shaw stayed and Dennis got the boot! Just To Get Through The Night is sublime. Agree...Kilroy is gets thrown out too often because of Roboto. Although the end of Styx as we knew it began with Cornerstone, Kilroy was the final straw.. I really dislike that album. I've got it on vinyl, but it's the only one I never replaced on cd. I will give it up for Just Get Thru This Night.. that's a nice sappy ballad and pretty good for what it is. I miss DDY's vocals now and then, and I miss what he brought to the band in the area of production, but I don't miss his posing and cheesy-ness on stage. Larry's a little out there and all over the place, but he's not pompous (sp?) like Dennis so it doesn't seem to bother me as much.

I listened to this album over and over all the way from Pittsburgh to Vegas on the plane, it gets better every time. Absolutely amazing! I knew it would be good before I even heard it, but it far exceeds the first one.

QUOTE (fledgehog @ Jun 27 2011, 09:56 AM) from Wikipedia: Pop and rock ballads The most common use of the term ballad in modern pop music is for an emotional love song. When the word ballad appears in the title of a song, as for example in The Beatles's "The Ballad of John and Yoko" or Billy Joel's "The Ballad of Billy the Kid", the folk-music sense is generally implied. Ballad is also sometimes applied to strophic story-songs more generally, such as Don McLean's "American Pie". Power ballads Simon Frith identifies the origins of the power ballad in the emotional singing of soul artists, particularly Ray Charles and the adaptation of this style by figures such as Eric Burdon, Tom Jones and Joe Cocker to produce slow tempo songs often building to a loud and emotive chorus backed by drums, electric guitars and sometimes choirs. According to Charles Aaron, power ballads came into existence in the early 1970s, when rock stars attempted to convey profound messages to audiences. He argues that the power ballad broke into the mainstream of American consciousness in 1976 as FM radio gave a new lease of life to earlier songs like Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven" (1971), Aerosmith's "Dream On" (1973), and Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Free Bird" (1974).[35] Other notable examples include Nazareth's version of "Love Hurts" (1975), Foreigner's "I Want to Know What Love Is",[34] Scorpions "Still Loving You", (both 1984), Heart's "What About Love" (1985) and Whitesnake's "Is This Love" (1987). I think the writer of this Wiki is confused between a ballad and an anthem. Some of these are ballads (in the modern sense of the word) and some are stadium anthems.

QUOTE (Unattractive Truth @ Jun 26 2011, 11:48 PM) QUOTE (MCM @ Jun 26 2011, 07:11 PM) Wow, you got better pics than me, I should have taken a real camera and not just my phone. Here's a link to the one's I did get, hope it works. It's the Vegas pics from my facebook page. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1...18&l=fab4fa111a On to the details.. What a great weekend! Got to meet Unattractive Truth and his lovely wife, Rolinda Bonz, Pedro and many more (special mention to the RIAB'ers who's "handles" I can't remember and who hung with us on Sat), Kelly D, Weatherman, etc.. Could someone who took pics at dinner send me one of them?? Seems like I remember two people taking pics, but I can't remember who. Rushcon was great fun and entertainment. What good people Rush fans are! Big thanks to those I spent time with on Saturday night, a good time was had by all! The show was FANTASTIC! My seat was great, the closest I've ever had for a Rush show. Right smack in front of Ged, whoo hooo! I didn't notice any human errors during the show, possibly they were out of sync for about 30 seconds on "Time Stand Still"? What do I know. Did Ged have to switch out his bass at the beginning of the show where he normally doesn't? It seemed like he had to switch out for some reason where I didn't remember him doing that before. Neil's solo was absolutely spectacular, I don't know if I ever enjoyed his solo as much as this time. Every time I see them do Working Man it seems like Alex is more on fire than the last.. Can't wait for the next tour! I'm glad you made it home safely, and that you had a good time. You are a Rush Warrior! Now, you have to start making some more of those t-shirts. If I could generate more than one T-Shirt per week, then maybe I could make a second career out of it to finance my Rush habit.
