  1. Let's see, funny first time RUSH concert stories...hmmmm...oh, yes, I was tear-gassed when the security people at the gates wouldn't let anyone and a bunch of yay-hoos started climbing the fence. I screamed in agony for over an hour and threw up several times. Ahhh, those were the days. I think that was the moving pictures tour if I'm not mistaken... Ray? You were there right?
  2. QUOTE (thing2jordan @ Aug 12 2010, 07:25 PM) http://a.imageshack.us/img29/9136/dscn0170cx.th.jpg My brother and I at Duke University. I was a Duke Tip Grand Honoree for making a score on my ACT that was equal to/better than 90% of high school students while in seventh grade. Tried to post full size, but Imageshack is being snarky. My son got into the same program for the same reasons 2 years ago. He's now starting high school in the Engineering Program and will graduate HS with a AS degree. I love smart kids! And Smart kids who are RUSH fans!
  3. did not see that. you are indeed a wise one....
  4. I just came back from my second viewing of Inception, and I never go to movies twice. Seeing it the second time gave me a whole new impression on the depth of this film. It is simply brilliant. Regarding the ending; There is a scene early on where he spins the top for the girl and it falls. I listened to it carefully because I wanted to compare it to the end on this second view. I can tell you it is clearly my impression the top falls and he is indeed in real life. You can hear it start to wobble in the first scene just before it falls. In a later scene, where the top keeps spinning it does not wobble one bit. This belief also comes from the fact that there are many scenes where Cobb is in the real world and he knows his goal is to get home. Remember the early scene where he's on the phone with the kids? So if he was in a dream at the end, what purpose would it serve? He's doing everything he can to be with them for real, and he shuns Mol's attempts to stay in a dream world with her. Besides, why would anyone want to keep him in a dream world? Look, this movie is a masterpiece of complex story telling. The combination of story lines, action (albeit some of it unrealistic) and the MONUMENTAL scope of individual and intertwined complexities make this one of the most thought provoking films I've ever seen.
  5. QUOTE (Some Half-Forgotten Stranger @ Aug 11 2010, 05:17 AM) This thread almost belongs in "That's It"!!! I love that St. Pauli Girl look. Something similar happened at a show I attended. It was on the R30 tour July, 29 2004. THE 30th anniversary show (The anniversary of Neil joining and Geddy's b-day) The crew had a couple of local "hotties" bring a cake out to Geddy during some song, or in between songs. Well Geddy just sort of gave 'em a nod and off they went...I guess he didn't pay 'em much attention as they weren't as easy on the eyes as our two lovelies in this thread. was that at the WPB show? I remember at that show the cake coming out and the whole celebration with about 8-10 hotties. Great show!
  6. Right up the alley with Real Housewives of NJ. Nothing for a good old boy there.
  7. Three words can sum up my feelings on Lucas Jar Jar Binks I happen to think Lucas is one of the worst most-famous directors of all time. The first SW was good and they all got progressively from there on out. Sorry
  8. AWESOME! Brilliant Indeed!
  9. I'm sorry. I can't take it. That show is the most inane waste of anyone's life I've every seen. My wonderful wife, bless her heart, is addicted to this awful, awful show and I can't stand it. Self-absorbed, unrealistic, bitchy, back-stabbing mental morons screaming at each other, calling each other "Ho's" and showing their asses to the world. And it seems to run 24/7! HOW CAN ANYONE WATCH THIS CRAP!
  10. I have that same exact shirt that Alex is wearing! I'm gonna wear that and post a pic of me so I can be just like Alex
  11. QUOTE (Boots @ Jul 27 2010, 03:20 PM) QUOTE (danielmclark @ Jul 27 2010, 02:13 PM) Hearing shit about Kim Kardashian presented as "news" on once-respectable outlets like CNN shakes my faith in humanity. You took the words right out of my mouth. I thought I was the only one who felt this way. I can't even look at CNN anymore. It's like a tabloid now. I've been watching Fox News. It's not the greatest, but I just wanted an alternative. Thank God there IS an alternative. Ditto. The pop psychology of "news" editors is pathetic. Flip to CNN "Chelseas's wedding, Linsay Lohan, Bill Maher etc" , flip to Fox and it's all news. And the most balanced guest lists on the opinion shows.
  12. QUOTE (hope67 @ Jul 26 2010, 04:22 PM) I thought that it was great! I took my 14 yr. old son and it was nice to have a movie we both enjoyed and discussed on the way home. I want to see it again. this is exactly my experience....with my 14 yr old son, and we talked about it on the way home and for the next two days. He's asking me every day to see it again.

QUOTE (danielmclark @ Jul 26 2010, 03:51 PM) Every now and then she does something where she looks simply pretty, and I think she's attractive. Then the other 95% of the time, she's caked in heavy makeup and trying to look sexy, but merely comes across looking like porn star plastic. I have no problem with Pitt, I rather liked him in most of what I've seen him in. I liked his performance in the Ocean's # movies. They're actors. Stick to acting, I say. roger that

Brad Pitt's an alley cat? Hmmm, a little schmutzy with his beard thing he had, yes. Alley Cat? nah. Good actor. Now her on the other hand, freaky-deekie. And quite frankly I think she leaves a lot to be desired in the looks department, she looks exactly like her dad. yech. Now I don't care much for their politics either, but I don't pick my friends or my actors based on that. They have done a lot for the NOLA area so I give them their due for that.

Most of the reviews Ive seen on this were pretty much 'meh', but wifey likes to watch films where girls kick the crap out of guys so we went. Story was pretty pedestrian but engaging with a couple garden variety twists. Some pretty good action scenes. I thought it was worth a trip to the cineplex. My son kept nudging me to stay and see Inception again. For you pervs out there, not much to drool at in this one . she's pretty much dressed head to toe the whole movie. excpet for the first couple minutes while she gets tortured in her underwear. not sexy
  16. After warning him about his eventual loss of brain function,a friend once told me about the benefits of his partying habits... It's like the lion and gazelle. What? The lion and gazzelle? Yep. You know how the lion stalks the weak, infirm, old or young? the easiest prey? It's like that with brain cells. The achohol and drugs i take kill the weakest brain cells so in fact, I am getting smarter with every drink.
  17. QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Jul 21 2010, 07:02 AM) You should read my posts more carefully before you rip me my apologies. I read it as "i ignore popular movies".
  18. Hate family guy. Stupidest, basest show ever.
  19. I'll bet there's been a bunch rants backstage at the friggin engineer or guitar tech who keeps wrecking Alex's mojo. Better get this shit fixed and fast!
  20. ah, so you just want to be a rebel? Doesn't matter if it's good film, you won't go see it because it's popular. Brilliant! Nothing like keeping an open mind!
  21. QUOTE (JohnnyBlaze @ Jul 20 2010, 06:46 AM) I just didn't get the boner that nearly everyone else seems to have acquired for it. well some of us only get to see movies like Toy Story and The Proposal from time to time so anything remotely exciting is a great film. Really I watch a lot of movies and haven't seen anything this good since The Dark Knight. That was two years ago. Before that, uh, LOTR?
  22. keep checking TM up to the morning of the show. I hear that can be quite fruitful.
  23. QUOTE (metallithrax @ Jul 19 2010, 03:32 PM) One of me and a couple of friends on holiday from around 1989. http://www.metallithrax.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/1279571377.jpg And a more recent one - from a few years ago on the Ramada Express train at Laughlin. http://www.metallithrax.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/1244842368.JPG you guys look like trouble I see three guys like that and this comes to mind
  24. That would be a barracuda! trash fish. don't eat them. We caught about 20 dolphin all day. I got skunked which is a rarity, but on the way in I nailed this one on a weed line about a mile off shore. I wound up with big fish of the day and off the hook for buying drinks! Yay!
